- A vertical plenum box is a type of ductwork used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to distribute conditioned air throughout a building. It is a rectangular box that is typically installed above a suspended ceiling and is connected to the main HVAC unit. The box serves as a plenum, which is a chamber that connects the supply and return ducts and allows for the distribution of air throughout the building. The vertical plenum box is used to distribute the conditioned air to multiple outlets, such as grilles or diffusers, that are located in various rooms or spaces within the building. This helps to ensure that the air is distributed evenly and efficiently throughout the building.
Just a tip from someone who has been doing sheet metal for over 35 years.instead of using reenforced ess strips for the top just do a reverse tap in.then you can fold all on the break.also cross break for pop noise.
Whats a reverse tap in?
Great video! Thank you! Question though if you have the time. How many inches over the measurement of the bottom of the air handler should I make the width of my box to sit correctly In A plenum such as this?
if you measure across inside the standing S cleats you will now see its smaller than 21" because of the folds of the Standing S cleats. You needed to have made allowances for that by about 3/16" or even more if your furnace jacket has screw heads in its construction. A plenum box that size should also have cross breaks. 21" wide furnaces are usually 4 ton blowers. Need cross breaks.
Very nice. I need to rip out my HVAC Heat Pump and insulate walls of the tiny corner room it sits in. Can't believe what some people get away with.
