- The Tiger & the PIG - 'Are you thinking what I'm thinking ?'
In todays video Ill take you through the steps I took to create a small vignette for my Vespid Models 1/72 Tiger 1.
I also take the plunge into the world of 3D printing my own figures and then how I went about painting these tiny 1/72nd scale faces.
I have a lot to learn about landscapes and dioramas however I find that these are the pieces that seem to attract the most attention when sitting on the display table...so it is totally worth the effort.

I just listened to your interview on the Plastic Posse Podcast. Gotta say, impressed by your take on modelling & the benefits to life & mental health. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Peter. It’s hard to know how deep to take that conversation sometimes, but the benefits of community and this hobby are incredible. We just need to look out for each other and lend a hand where we can.
Wishing you a merry Christmas 🎄 Thanks for reaching out today 🏆☝️🍺🇦🇺
Very nicely presented little Tiger there, mate. I've never been one for braille scale, but these new ones look tempting. The whole 3D printing thing is an amazing addition to our hobby, too...I really must get one!
I’d resisted the 3d print for a long time…but now I have one I think it’s a game changer for me. I love it.
Thanks for joining in the conversation 🙏☝️🍻
I love how you include your mistakes in your videos. Makes for a more relatable viewing experience. Have a merry Xmas and a happy new year.
Thanks mate. I try to share the journey as best I can, so it’s nice to hear people are responding to that. Thanks again for your support of the channel this year. It’s truly appreciated 🙏🎄🏆🍺
Great looking vignette, Clayton! The detail makes it look like 1/35 scale. Excellent step-by-step construction details as well!
Thanks Ken. Glad you enjoyed it. That beautiful kit was certainly a big head start. Made the whole process easy. Appreciate you joining in 🏆🎄🙌🏼🍀
Nice!A 1:72 figure painting series would be great!
Noted. 😁 keep the ideas coming. I note them all down…just a matter of having the time 🕰️. Thanks for joining the conversation 🙏🍺💪
Your skill in painting those micro figures is bordering on supernatural!!
Well…thank you, but all skills are learnable…just takes practice and patience. Thanks for connecting here of the channel 🏆🙏🍀

Thank you Steve. Looking forward to bringing you all new content next year! I’ve got some big plans!
First off, excellent finished product! All respect to you sir because my eyesight is such that I need magnifying glasses for 1/35th & 48th scale figures and small parts! Nice come back after the disappointment of the first base not working out the way you wanted. Enjoy your holiday break, Merry Christmas to you & your family!
Thanks Jim. Merry Christmas to you too mate ☝️🙏🍻
How could you not be content with this little guy, looks so good
Thanks buddy. Hope your modelling journey is on track? 🇦🇺🏆🍺

oathe mate! this is a bloody lovely scene with some great figures as well ( Also an awesome Tiger 1!) I have been 3d printing for about a year now and have loved every minute, able to use figures in my dioramas to the scale and exact way I want them is my favourite part! Also merry christmas mate 🍻
Glad you liked it 😎 Yeah, the whole 3d thing has really been an eye opener for me. So good!

A good presentation with all the steps to a great result. Wonderful work on the small scale. A cool diorama to present on exhibitions and a part for a showcase.

Thanks Clayton for another great video. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.
Thanks Craig. Merry Christmas to you and yours too mate. Thanks for your support 🙏🍺🎄🏆
Really nice work there! I feel a good 3D printer as the one you´ve got can make a big difference when printing those 72nd figures as with higher resolutions layers can get less pronounced. For example the Photon Mono I use definetly results in visible layer lines that become even more aparent when viewing a model closely... and I believe that is what a good 2nd model should do: invite to look closer to find more intricate details!
Also enjoyed your talk with the PPP so far.. and of course I wish everyone a great reminder of the holiday season and the year 👍
Hey 👋 thanks for connecting. Thanks re the podcast. That was a load of fun.
The 3D printer…yeah, so good. You can still see stepping under magnification but to the naked eye it looks fine.
Appreciate you taking the time to comment. Hope to see you in the new year 🙏💪☝️🍺
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it 😎 Appreciate you taking the time to comment 🙏🏆🎄
Your off by a factor of 10 in those shades of grey.
What do you mean? 🤔
Hmm Bacon 🤤😆 Great build series Clayton, informative and inspirational as ever! I've seen a number of these little Vespid models popping up on YT and they all look super cool. I'm very glad you include any stuff ups and failures along with your thought processes along the way. Super keen to see some wings in the future and thanks again for looking at my 38(t) @ Scale ACT. Have a great festive season🎄🥳🍻🍻
Hey Andrew. So happy to have you here as part of the community. Your pz38 was terrific. What are you planning to put on the table next year?
@@workbenchhobbies4316 Not sure yet, currently doing a Bf109E3 (Tamiya 1/48). However, I've got a couple of Tamiya 1/35 armour pieces that I'm going to tackle after that, including the SAS Pink Panther Land Rover. My daughter loved that it was pink so I'm going to construct it sans weapons for her. Just got to get building!!
That bf109 is a lovely kit I believe..and yes, always loved that pink panther 😂🎉 Now get building! 😉👋
Great work, at this scale ! I can hardly paint the figures in my 1/48 kits.... A note to the pig: Run ! Soldiers are always hungry ;-)
Thank you for joining in 🙏 And yes…the pig may be in a spot of bother! 😎😉💪
I like the simple yet powerful presentation of the diorama. I use oil paint on my figures. No hard edges that way. Happy holidays. Any.
Hey Any. I used to use oils on my larger scale figures, but 72nd is just too small. Maybe I should try again.
Must say though, the macro lens and digital photography tend to exaggerate the lines in the paint. Look a lot better to the naked eye.
Thanks for connecting today 🙏🍺☝️
@@workbenchhobbies4316 you can look at my figures, oils work really well in small scale. I do the basic painting with acrylic and then add many layers of oil paint. It’s true that macro lenses make dust look like a python in this scale, but you can take pictures of figures painted with oils and they’ll look just as well as large scale figures.
Cool. Send me through a link. I’d love to take a look
No problem.

Hi Any, so sorry for the delay, missed this link. Just took a look and the scene looks terrific and it looks like it is getting quite a few views! Congratulations 🥳
Another guy that came to your channel after listening PPP. I am mostly an aircraft modeller, but I dip my toes into armor from time to time. But what I am really looking in YT vids is quality and a good narrative and you deliver both! Happy New Year and looking forward to your future works. Luckily I have your older builds to check out :D
That’s great news. I had a heap of fun on that podcast. Thank you for your feedback. I’m kinda the opposite to you…an armour modeller that dips his toes into aircraft 😁 You can expect a set of wings at some point this year…but be warned I tend to weather my aircraft like tanks 😉
Thanks again for connecting 🙏🍺
@@workbenchhobbies4316 I build ships as well, and I am always looking for a challenge. And to be honest, a great looking model is a great looking model, no matter what it is. And even if you'll weather an aircraft as a tank - as long as you'll enjoy doing it, mission will be accomplished :)
I love all modelling too 💪 Except cars 😉
🤝🎥👍
😍
Looks amazing,i was hopping you will make a diorama some time soon, and i am blown away How you painted a 1/72 figure better than I paint 1/35,and the idea of a 1/72 base is something challenging to do,I am doing it right now and I also experience the same thing, starting it and hosting it and getting rid off it.Great to see I am not alone, and congrats on such a fantastic effort!
None of us are alone mate! Stick with it! Look for the lesson. Thanks for joining the conversation 🙏💪🍀🍺🏆
