  • I continue the work on the TAKOM missile kit as well as show you the steps I took to modify poses on the resin figures and then paint them in a complex Milticam camouflage scheme.
I then designs 3D prints for the mount and tried to get them to all work together in a vignette.

Good to see you adding figures in a fitting way - much better than a person just standing. Telling a story/ snippet of a scene is a great goal. Well done!

Good build and the story it tells (funny take on the bird and on the vodka bottles). Interesting how 3D printing allows for many things in this hobby (such as adding more things) and how it can be indeed such a game changer as well. Also , I agree with one of the commentators saying “anything to polish” because that is indeed such a time consuming process and it’s always good to get a model that has a straightforward build with almost minimal polish and sanding 😂😂

This was an interesting subject and build Clayton, and the final result is awsome. I was impressed by the figures as well, as my efforts to paint a presentable figure to accompany my own builds have been disappointing to say the least, and they tend to end up on the “shelf of shame”. This certainly was a subject that is out of the ordinary, but you nailed it. Cheers for now mate!

@@workbenchhobbies4316 I didn't mean for the comment to be a critique of your filming or production. I believe that all print and video media will fall short in displaying our hobby, in the same way it's better to go to the museum to see these pieces rather than just photos online. I think the turntable shot is the closest you can get to actually seeing it with your own eyes without being there

Great stuff. Very informative, eg: I finally learnt what wet palettes do. Thanks.
1 observation = please include straps and slings with buckles, etc (you can get away with just painting metallics for the latter) for figures, especially for small arms. It adds so much to the overall effect. Always. Insignia's always a big plus as well, although special forces eschew a lot of that.

Hey 👋 yeah, completely agree. Dumb thing is I added straps to my 72nd scale figures in the last diorama. Think I just got lazy with this one.

@workbenchhobbies4316 I'm not on social media, but if you have any other way of receiving communications, I'll gladly send you my diorama photos. Did a burning 1/32 Me 110 with pilot over a scene below with an E-100 in a very complex 2 different camo schemes,, 2 detroyed scout tanks, 40 odd German soldiers in multiple types of uniforms and weapons, lots of foliage, ammo dump, 1st aid Post. All weapons had slings, etc.
Did a large WW1 British captured Siegfried Line trench (the wide ones intended as tank traps (which worked) w/ partial concrete MG nest, and about 30 Brit infantry (1 Aussie cav officer included) festooned in trench consolidation equipment, weapons, ammo, etc, etc.
A very involved one has a 1/32 Ju-88 crashed on top of a long derelict bridge semi-covered in foliage, a zimmeritted Bergpanther and huge truck used as anchors to secure the Ju-88 in place & about 40 (and counting)figures all over the area, including Cossacks, indeterminate Gendarme (ambiguous uniform - "somewhere in the Balkans"), Luftwaffe Helferinn, MPs, generals and other brass, engineers, infantry, panzer troops (some in U boat lestgers), paras, Italian armoured car, infantry, signals, Luftwaffe, cine cameraman, partial river, a lot of plants, SS cavalry, propaganda posters, and a lit more besides. Oh, and a cat underneath the truck!
Making dioramas and vignettes is the only way to go for me. All else pales in comparison. At a certain point, the diorama takes on a life of its own, and you respond to it. Painters and sculptures say the same.

That's nice choise of figures. :) Btw, i usually make base layer of paint by airbrush and them pick up details by hand. It's faster if painting seseveral similar figures. Diorama looks cool.

I often do the same thing, but I don’t like spraying acrylics through my airbrush that I use for lacquers. I find it taints it and can cause spraying issues…so I tend to just brush paint in these situations.
