@@I.____.....__...__ yes, there’s a definitive answer to who is right in the film. It came out slightly more ambiguous than I intended, so I’ve made an effort to not give that answer. Some people have found real joy in the ambiguity, and I think it’s so cool that a movie can mean different things to different people.

Can someone explain the ending to me
You know when she says that looking at his face wipes your memory like wiping a drive, so we see that in effect at 8:41. Her memory gets wiped because she looked at his face.
but now because her memory is wiped he's no longer a threat in her brain. However Just before her memory was wiped we saw her scribbling with her pen, turns out she wrote kill him with her hammer.
So she decides to do it, even though she doesn't remember why, she trusts her handwriting maybe.
She kills him.
Buuuut to do that she looks at his face, so her memory is wiped again as she kills him, so when she sees the hammer again she has no idea why it says kill him and why she listened. And she steps on the tape recorder implying that now she'll never know why she did such a crazy thing as to kill a random person. Something like that.
