I agree with you i struggle the most mentally with my heroin addiction. After 3-5 days the physical WD starts going away but the mentally its a f*cking a struggle.

As a recovering addict myself, and a therapist, who has now been clean for 11 years, they have every single right to feel the way they do.
Yes, it is 100% true that she needs help and has a problem.
It is ALSO true that she has hurt her family very deeply and that pain is 100% real, regardless of whether or not she has a problem.
As addicts, we deserve empathy, but we do not deserve immunity for our actions just because we struggle with our battle, especially when they hurt others

Physically well. That’s all she meant. The fact that she is always in mental anguish is part of the reason she gets high, or tries to.
It is, I'm currently living it. Honestly I don't feel better unless I'm so high that I have a foot in the grave. It's going to kill me someday I know it.
You can tell she has a really strong physiological addiction along with the bodily addiction that comes with opiates because she felt better straight after she snorted it. It takes a while to come on from snorting but she felt great right away, meaning the act of snorting is just as bad as the actual high she gets. It's sort of like a pavlovian response.
She is extremely self - aware
I think the mental addiction is the hardest part to overcome I smoked weed multiple times a day every day for about 8 years and got clean for my pregnancy but I can 100% relate to the feeling that you cannot function without the substance. Although I know weed isn't as bad as heroin, I completely understand that addiction is a battle. I literally have dreams about smoking again even after being completely sober from it. I hate to admit it but even after my pregnancy I will most likely pick it up again. In her situation she needs therapy to help her, not her family reminding her that she's stupid for picking up the addiction
@Sup bro in her case I meant therapy such as being in rehab with a super good team of people who are dedicated to keeping her clean.

She had endocarditis. It's bacteria on your heart valves from shooting up. I had this and was in the hospital on IV antibiotics for 47 days. I was lucky and ended up not needing the valve replacement surgery but have heart issues now cause of it. Plus it went to my lungs as well. It was a wake up call and I can now say I'm 4 years sober.

@Blue 30's no I doubt it. From injecting only I knew people that got it. I smoked and did lines of meth for years no problems like that. But smokiing them blues are bad news man. Its all they do in AZ now
I see this every single day endocarditis working in a hospital with drugs and alcohol patients. alot of them have the heart surgery and still use so they end up dead. they always go back on it . even if they get a bill through the post urs an excuse to use drugs. you can't help them the only person that can help is themselves

I chose to cut my brother off permanently. I use to send him money all the time I decided I won’t contribute a dime to him getting high. I have to block him out my life bc if I don’t I’m afraid I might jeopardize my own sanity.

I know 2 girls who have had heart surgeries fron drugs. They both still use. They had to learn to walk again and everything it is dumb
This is not the child that I raised , the amount of times I hear this, I may not be who you raised but I am the same person. This drug is a demon and angel wrapped in a tiny piece of plastic. I can go without it for weeks sometimes months on end but I can never go without it forever

If you could buy pure heroin or morphine at the pharmacy and you knew exactly how much you were taking, it would be a much much much safer drug.
Illegal heroin kills people but legal morphine, hydromorphone, buprenorphine kill a lot less people than alchool or tabaco or cars.

I always what you call it when you try to stay sober during the week and then once you get that paycheck you do as much as you can on the weekends… just cause it scares ya that if ya don’t have no money then you can’t do what ya wanna do on the weekends or even the weekdays… I struggle with this but I work and pay what I have to pay and then do what I want to once I know I got that money to buy it
