Xbox One black screen of death after loading... Will not enter "safe mode" menu

- if I press and hold menu on the controller then I can see the console off / controller off etc screen.
if I press and hold sync / eject, it doesn't go to "safe mode" 4 option menu screen, it will either turn off when I let go or eventually start beeping up to 7 times (after around 50 seconds).
it's hard to film right handed but it doesn't matter how instantly I press the 2 buttons together or how quickly after pressing power.
ofcourse there is no disc in the console and all leads are fine (just HDMI and power connected).
Same console since the day of release, so if it is to die then it has done well. - Jak na to + styl
So I chatted with MS support tonight...and WOW...I want to say how awful that was. So like you El Gringo, I have the BSOD screen after the logo splash. I tried the same thing you did, which was the Bind/Synch + Eject + Power, and I tried the unplug power brick for a few minutes too, and no dice. I don't get that 2nd power on sound, just the one, and the splash and then the BSOD.
So I contact them, to see if there is some other fix/workaround/patch coming. I was first connected to a "Gamer Support" person, as in a fellow gamer to assist. Okay...whatever. They got right to it...and told me that this is likely a hardware issue since I went through all the steps to get the factory reset. So the solution to the problem they created via patch, was "buy a new XBox." It was fine and had no issues, but after their patch, I have to shell out $ for a repair/new console? F to that. I said...unacceptable and got connected to an official advisor. I go around and around with the processes I took. They go on about doing the update. But ultimately I'm told..."I believe sir we are already in 2021 and few months to go we will be on 2022." Their solution? Shell out $500+ for a new XBox Series X. WTF? You break it so I have to buy it? Unacceptable service. Needless to say, I'm calling during business hours to raise some heck.
Unforgivable 👎👎
Ultimately I accept that my console must be a little old and worn which is why I can't get the fix to work, but likewise, it was fine until they messed up my console with an "update".
I'm a little torn because I feel frustrated that this is forcing me to buy a new console, however, at the same time, I really cannot complain that the console lasted 8 years nearly.
Thank you for calling their support and reporting this back to me, it saves me from wasting my time (which I figured I would be).
I have decided that I will buy a Series X, reluctantly, purely because if that lasts the same amount of time then I will be happy with that.
I don't think they have done this deliberately as it is reversible for most people, however I still think they deserve a lot of shit for this.
Update to my saga: Called 3 times and disconnected while on hold for 2 of them and on the 2nd call was promised a supervisor would call. They never did after about 3 hours of waiting. I tried to get in on a voice call and kept getting the "something went wrong" when entering my phone number. I resorted to another chat with a gamer liason and no results there. I asked to be put through to a tech support and then my fortuned turned around. Mario B was great. Calmed things down...and we tried the Synch/Bind and the Eject with the tap of the Power. Took a few tries but eventually it worked. It might be that the synch/bind button is a little sticky as I use a wired controller and don't use the bind button. Others that use it a lot, that might the problem. As well the little itty bitty synch button can be hard to press an hold in. If the 3 button solution is not working then the synch might be the key part that is not working. I'd advise a pen top to press it and hold it in while trying this solution. That way you can really press that synch and have it making contact. If not, maybe a worn button replacement is needed rather than buying a whole new console. That is my tale...hopefully anyone else with this issue gets it sorted out. I feel lucky now.
@@captscarlet2654 thanks again, I really appreciate that.
I'll have another look at the sync button however I am confident that it was pressing in properly, I might take the button itself off and press the pad underneath it and try that instead. I pressed this button in so hard that I had 3 little banana lines on my fingertip for about a minute
This is happening worldwide, that's why I'm just going to leave it hoping its an xbox problem that they will eventually fix
yeah fix it by buying a new one....they are bending us over rn
It's a bug with the new update and the insider app apparently...it's happened to my step dad's Xbox..praying mines alr
Did anybody ever fix this?
Ya, I walked in and it was finishing an update after that, black after the start up and it only shows my name as it signs me in and the power off, restart, and turn off controller options. Tried the troubleshoot options and nothing.
Search "Sage's computer repair / Sage knows IT".
He has done a video on this for the best fix, unfortunately though it hasn't worked for me.
My Xbox one X is getting a black screen of death after the most recent update. The trouble shooting screen doesn’t work either.
It happened to me after a Microsoft update. If this was a nudge to buy the new console then we’ll done Microsoft, you’ve made my mind up, im off to buy the new PlayStation.
Lol if it isn't out of stock everywhere haha
I tried about 100 times with no luck, no beeps, no safe mode, nothing. It finally gave me the safe mode screen after I unplugged the power cord from back of console, waited 5 secs, plugged it back in, immediately hit power button, quickly held sync and eject. Held those two buttons about 5 secs and got the beep then safe mode screen. I tried unplugging it for several minutes many times, before attempting safe mode and it never worked, as well as powering on and off then safe mode, nothing worked. It only worked when I unplugged power from back and plugged it right back in right before the safe mode procedure. Good luck everyone.
Thank u it worked!
Go to the controller off, console off, reset Console screen. ... Select reset Console and as soon as the console turns off hold the sync and disc eject buttons down like you did and it should enter safe mode..good luck 🤞
It worked for me thanks ur a saint
Same issue as the video, God bless you for that little work around 🙏
Thank you
BUDDY I LOVE YOU Thanks this worked :)
dont get that screen :\
Happened to me after update today...and it won't go into safe mode...only black screen...
@@adriandaumar994hi. Do you solve it at the end?
Safe mode on xbox one fat it’s little bit tricky
Hold sync button then press and hold for 5s power button
Dudes after reading the comments I tried unplugging mine , powering up, and holding the two buttons and eventually it worked. Had to rip the power cord out a couple times and then boom it let me restore.
what do i do after
Wait is this happening everywhere today?!
Apparently Microsoft released an update *DEFINITELY NOT ON PURPOSE TO FORCE EVERYBODY ONTO THE NEW CONSOLE* which has caused this issue to be so wide spread. I've had this console since 2013 and it has never failed me and now the thing that has caused it to fail is a software update issue.
Did you come up with a fix? Mine is still sitting bricked
Kind of...
I bought an Xbox Series X with Xbox All Access 😂
my machine has practically no play on it. it used to reset itself the few times i tried it and it sat for months. tried again worked fine for a few days then back to resetting itself. now all i get is a green splash logo a hello and darkness. try the hold button shit but all it does is turn off and on never additional beeps or anything hate this system only got it for a few exclusives total waste of money
For everyone struggling in the comments, a factory reset should work for most people.
With the Xbox powered down and any discs ejected, press the power button and then hold eject and sync together until you hear 1 beep followed by a second a while after.
Then you should get an options menu, choose factory reset in the options and "keep games & apps".
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me as I can't seem to open this menu but it seems to work for most people.
Good luck.
try pressing the sync button slightly before the eject button
@@deafultfromwiisports4097 have done, doesn't work but thanks anyway
@NTO Techsmart try holding the sync and power button maybe?
unplug it from the power outlet and try again, it should work
@@elgringo1893 Yes try what Ernesto said. I couldnt get the menu like yourself but try holding the two buttons instantly after you power it on after unplugging it from the wall.
You are having the EXACT problem that I am. Let me know if you had any way that fixed things
Did you fix that? I got the same problem rn
@@yaripizzi5880do you fix it?
If your sync button is faulty it won’t work and your out of luck. Just happened to me and it won’t work no matter how much I try.
Same
Just turned on mine and it's a black screen to
So, what happened? I didn't see any results?
If there were any, I'd have shown them. Basically the update left my console unusable and I was forced to buy a new one
Can’t get the factory reset screen to come up any suggestions
Same have u fixed urs?
@@danemillers169 yes
@@tdripfiji7632 how u fix it?

Same here!
My Xbox is doing the same thing. To be honest I’m seriously considering changing to PlayStation. Sure I have friends on Xbox but at this rate they’re just scamming. The bumpers are horrible (LB and RB) and now this? No wonder PS4/PS5 players are so happy with their gaming consoles
The bumpers are definitely an issue on the later controllers. To be honest though I feel the controllers are better to handle than with the PlayStation, but that's just a preference.
I don't think Sony are free from their own issues with consoles though either... It's just a shame that these are the circumstances forcing people to move away from Xbox.
@@elgringo1893 Yeah
you not be happy when that ps5 breaks down after few mounth they are shit
@@bitsnbobs1969 Oh really? 😦
Is this happening worldwide?
Seems to be
I've had the same problem with the RRoD and now this?? Fuck it, I'm buying a PS5
I have thought about it but I think I'm going to get the Series X. I have Sony phones and their tech is absolutely top notch but I have a lot of friends on Xbox and I much prefer the look of the new console to the PS5.
SAME, NO MORE XBOX, ITS BS, SPEND HUNDREDS FOR A POS
This happened for me. I tried pressing the buttons the other way around, eject first then sync, and it worked. I also pushed a lot harder.
I do exactly that, I hold the buttons hard enough to make my fingers break and I get 1 beep, then nothing, then a second beep!!!!
Then when I let go it just powers off and if I don't let go it does nothing.
Also I just tried again and I was holding the sync button so hard that I had the imprint of it on the tip of my index finger for a whole minute afterwards
@@elgringo1893 i have the exact sane problem
@@danemillers169 sorry to report, I found no fix and instead I have bought a series X
Omg thank you so much that finally did the trick
unplug the xbox from the power outlet and then plug it back in and try to hold sync & eject, that should take you to safe mode!
I already tried that too 💔
I haven't tried to get it to work again in the last couple days to be fair so I'll give it another go
@@elgringo1893 i had to try a couple of times but it worked eventually, you kind of have to do it fast
@@comepinga44 I've just tried again, I just get random amounts of beeps, the Xbox tries powering on and off doing weird shit and it does something different every time now

F this shit man, am switching to pc or playstation, this shit happened to me today TODAY BRUUHHHHHH

Welp I'm fucked, dont know where I can find 200 pounds for the series s or x
Look into Xbox all access
You can get 24 months of Xbox Game Pass plus the Console for just £28.99 a month for 2 years, that's what i did.
Pull your power cord then try the the safe mode process. Then it will work
it won’t let me go into safe mode and both eject and sync button work perfectly fine do you know how to fix it?
It just means your console is dead aka sol
How I just bought my s new out the box and I my Xbox wont work after the new update
