- Here’s how to fix the black screen of death on Xbox One X or the S.
Yes I’m aware this was an incident on the 30th of January 2019 but this isn’t isolated to that date.
There’s been numerous mentions of this fault in the past and this is how it’s been described to solve it on the Xbox support page.

Both my kids Xbox ones got this yesterday to.. No fix solved it, but today they worked again. Might have been an update going wrong.

Jay Sysum a.k.a Rat Master 3 ya well my luck is 10 minutes later power outage happens and it’s back to where it was and the same stuff won’t work sooo idk everything but the second beeps from holding the disk button and the controller connector thing won’t work

@@jaysysumakaRatMaster3 fair enough downloaded Titanfall 2 and it's completely fucked my xbox managed to get it to factory settings downloaded the game again and it did the same thing but I can't even factory reset my xbox anymore it just gets to the green screen and doesn't do anything
Think I’d just try unplugging it for 3 minutes, do a system update of the OS in the settings menu if you can get to it.

I just encountered this problem again. My game, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey froze on me last night and the console wouldn’t fully turn on or something. By meaning; my console would turn on, but not fully load and make the slight beep as if it was turning off at the moment. Then it would just sit there frozen in that pseudo-on state or whatever. I tried to do what you suggested, the ten second button method and plugged it directly into my wall outlet as well, that fixed it. Apparently Xbox Live TV, Music and Video streaming are having issues. Also there’s an update I’m downloading and installing right now, to be on the safe side (since in my humble experience the updates only help and not hinder my console).
It was odd, but this did happen to me a little while ago back in January as well, because this particular issue was system-wide. And now just last-night and today, again.

Jay Sysum a.k.a Rat Master 3 at a worst cast scenario, yes. It, the Xbox One X or S are thankfully, relatively easy to mend at home. But yes, I would also emphasize that if an issue or problem is beyond anyone’s capabilities or expertise, call in the professionals for repairs, assistance, or help at least.

My xbox one has done this to me 2 times past 2 days. To fix I would hard shutdown holding button for 10sec unplugging power from back of xbox for couple minutes then restarting and it fixed it both times. Nice video OP. I will also add my 24hz was NOT checked. So I’m not sure why I’m getting the black screen of death. Reminds me of the old days with the red rings ! 🤣👍🏻

Surely you could send it back to Microsoft for repair. Probably be about £80 - £100 or Free in some cases... check their website 👍🏼
The whole system should be hdr10 not just the games and app.when I was watching Netflixs it kept changing from hdr to black screen from time to time.its when it switch from one to the other. I was watching Netflixs when it when black. so I turned off my hdr10 on my system and keep on the hdr tv my monitor now.i dont know if it's the xbox one x or my monitor killed it. Make sure your monitor is hdr10 only not just hdr.
what if this solution do not help and console goes off? I tried change hdd, and that not help. other console work on the same power supply, and hdmi without any problem, fault one doing some sound when pressing combination of this buttons, and xbox do not start at all, cant do recovery, usb stick is ok, can recover other consoles, what can be wrong?

Amber Matamoros sorry... I’ve not got any other tips than what’s in the video.... other than that, it’s sometimes just a case of waiting for a patch or for Microsoft to fix something at their end.
You might just have to turn it off and go do something else for the day/night.
Jay Sysum a.k.a Rat Master 3 well you see I don’t really use my Xbox as much as before. so it did a software update when I turned it on and then it was updating pubg and was giving me network error stopped downloading the game & said it needed to be restarted the screen stayed like black w/ green in background real dim and did your steps and nothing :(

Sam Style Style no it still not working I think I need to replace the hard drive. I even got the software for Xbox and put on flash drive to do clean install still not working :(
i was playing arkham knight and in the middle of my combo my screen went to the "signal not found" black screen and i could hear everything but not see. i turned the console off then back on and i could hear everything but only see "signal not found" and it wont evenlet me get to the xbox factory reset page, idk what to do the xbox is new to im scared
Try having a look on the Microsoft Xbox issue website. Look through the forums to see if this is a know problem.

Check your hdmi ports some Xbox’s auto shut off when no HDMI is detected plug in HDMI to HDMI in when pressing power button then switch when your control is able to connect

I have the white xbox one X console , i too got the black screen when i booted it up . Microsoft said to hold the power button “ on the console “ for 10 seconds till the console shuts off , thus turn it back on your self , i exchanged mine for a different console . I have warranty .

My Xbox still doesn’t work it just says no signal I have checked everything and replaced the hdmi chord and the power cable but it shows nothing

Bro mine isn’t even doing that.. when it starts it says Xbox for a looong time the. It is black with a greenish tent and when I hit the home button it just brightens
Guess it’s gonna be a case of looking on the Microsoft support page for a similar issue... or just try disconnecting the Xbox for 3 minutes at least. Totally unplug it, no disc in the Xbox and try rebooting it.
So my Xbox turns on but it gets stuck in the green loading when I powered it on for the first time in almost a week and after the green screen loads it gets stuck on a black screen

Idiot. It's the software on the console, sometimes hardware. Your TV would have nothing to do with unless no other connections worked on the tv, then it the panel is shot and tv needs to be replaced.

Sometimes you've got to bite the bullet and send it for repair.

Orlandas Gaming no it’s not your chip, the same thing happened to me. It’s what the black screen of death comes from. Try the whole ‘hold the power button for ten seconds thing’ and/or unplug the Xbox

Bro thank you so much! Its fucking november 2019 and I just got an xbox 1x and am still having this issue. I'm in the states and it's happened to me twice in the 2 months I've owned my xbox. I reset as you showed and I unclicked 24hz so hopefully that solves the issue. Thanks again man I really appreciate it

@@jaysysumakaRatMaster3 I'm still having problems with RDR2. The game starts up but then it lags really bad and even freezes n crashes sometimes. Also after a lag starts dialogue with other characters goes bye bye. Any help on this? Rdr2 freezing n lagging is what started the black screen for me on my 1x.

Mine stopped working today, haven’t had any issues (in the past 3 days when I turned it off it will stay flashing for a while) today it will just stay at black screen.
I did the video and downloaded COD and when it was like in 5% same shit happened
Federico Corral when I turn mine off it often stays on flashing for a while... I generally presume it’s updating something and just leave it to do whatever it wants now.
I already fixed it with some guy that fixed Consoles. Microsoft was gonna charge me $250, and I got it fixed for $50. Apparently it was a problem with the hard drive. Good luck

I’m not 100% sure but even if it’s out of warranty like mine was, you can still get it repaired by Microsoft.

Happened to myself and a mate yesterday also, took mine apart and cleaned it out then it worked. But I'm sure it was on micorsofts side.

I did all the things you see on tutorials to fix, unplug, restart, etc. I finally just reset mine today to factory default settings and that update was able to complete. Didn't want to resort to this but atleast I fixed it. Before I hadn't been able to play it for months. Oh well, I was only on level 7 of Borderlands 3 before it bricked up from that update. lol So I guess now, I have to create a new account on Xbox and set up the whole thing like I did when I got it. But hopefully I will be playing again today. Yay!

Have you tried a hard reset... pull all cables out of the back of the console for 3 minutes. 5 minutes to be sure then try to restart the console. Also try using a different HDMI cable.
@@jaysysumakaRatMaster3 yep, I changed the HDMI cable 5mins ago. Still nothing on my TV. I used both HDMI ports on my TV. Nothing happened. Hard reset does not work for me. I tried it exactly like in all the CZcams videos. Press all the buttons or only this or that button...nothing happens
Looks like you need to checkout the Microsoft support page online then and look at returning it for maintenance... or buy a new console. 2 bad options... not sure what else to suggest unless you try a different TV

Hi all! There's a problem with xbox one x. I have a 4k monitor, but in games the picture is a bit soapy and the font in the menu shows pixels. Tried to change the hdimi cable and rented the xbox for repairs under warranty, but to no avail.
What should we do?
Make sure you've selected 4k gaming in the display settings... I guess that's a no brainer if you haven't done it already
Just happened to me. I did everything and nothing has worked so what I ended up doing was following your steps until I got to the start up screen. Looked at your screen and selected Restart Xbox keeping all information and Spammed A (Cuz I still cant see since no signal) Xbox made another beep and now my TV is Constantly getting a Signal but drops. (STILL DONT SEE A THING BTW) Ive done everything and At this point I think the xbox is straight up dead at this point...

Normal cereal really not sure... there’s been some sign in issues all night in the U.K. Which have hopefully been solved now. If that was your problem.

I'm going try this I hope it works because I'm getting a xbox one x for 107 at a pawn shop and he says it probably a hdmi issue but the hdmi looks brand new it just doesn't show anything on the screen so I hope this works cause this b great and a steal lol
