This cruise really surprised me!

  • I grew up in New England and thought a cruise to this region wasn't worth the effort, but this cruise really surprised me just how much I loved visiting Canada and Maine.

I’ve only been on 10 cruises but the New England/Canada was our whole family’s favorite cruise. We loved it. Sailed out of Baltimore and it was the easiest port to cruise out of. Definitely recommend.

Even as someone who lives in Canada, this is a cruise we want to do one day. Canada is so large that we have never been to the East Coast.Where we live it’s mostly very hot and humid until October sometimes. We are experiencing most of the Fall colors now, in November. I’d love to do that earlier in the Fall.
    Really intrigued!

Me and my daughter just did Liberty of the seas out of Bayonne from Oct 19th to the 28th. We were to early for the full fall foliage which was a surprise and a disappointment. However it was still such a wonderful cruise. Boston rained all day but our ghost and gravestones excursion was great as was Quincy Market. Bar Harbor was such a great little town and Portland was cool too. Though next time we'll do some excursions to nature parks. Both Canada stops, Halifax and St Johns were so nice. St Johns was our favorite port overall. We both agreed we would move there if we could!

I've lived in the Boston area since 1998. October, April are the two months with the most rain; March gets a lot of wet weather combining rain, sleet, and snow. Best time to visit Boston is May and June.

My family visited the Bay of Fundy, largest port city is St. John, New Brunswick on a road trip in 1991. It is famous for its dramatic tides, over thirty feet between high and low tide; also there is fantastic North Atlantic whale watching. Whale Watching is much less than in Alaska partly due to the fares being in Canadian dollars instead of US dollars and the endangered North Atlantic Right whale is only seen in this area during the summer.

We just did this cruise for the 4th or 5th time. It's the absolute best. Honestly we plan on doing it every year or at least try to. We always do the long 9 day cruise from NJ except last year we did a super short 4 day cruise to Halifax just to get our feet wet out of the pandemic and back to cruising.
The ports are all amazing! I'm glad people are seeing how great these cruises are.
Also immediately the first time we did this cruise and went to Freeport I said to my wife, sell everything we are moving here.

Sigh. I was just on the Liberty of the Sea's, New England/Canada cruise. It was great. I wish I was still on it. I ate with a large table of strangers and I was cruising alone. We became friends and had a great time. It was my first 'cold' cruise. Weather was great and the ocean was completely flat. Cannot wait for my next cruise. May do it again

Great One as always. It seems like many of the cruise bloggers did a New England/Canada cruise this fall. Tony and his buddy Don were on one a few weeks ago. Ilana from Life Well Cruised as well. I loved seeing the scenery and the coverage from you all. I live in South Florida and have only done one cruise so far. I have subscribed to approximately 15 or so Cruise You Tube Bloggers so far. My Top five are you, La Lida Loca, Life Well Cruised, Tips for Travelers, and Ben and David. Didn't care much for that Cruise Passion you mention once. No narration or person. Just music and tour. Boring!!! New England really did look awesome and quaint. Haven't been up there in years. I still give you the award for the best commanding voice. When I watch your videos I really want to join you. More than any of the others, I feel like I am living vicariously through your videos. Maybe it is because you are a Jewish guy too. I don't have Israeli citizenship but lived there for 8 months back in 77/78 on Young Judaea Year Course. I don't have notifications turned on because it's a bit annoying so I don't know if you've responded before to one of these comments just in case you see me repeating myself. I might not have seen a response. You got the life Bro. Wish I had a family of my own. It would be a lot more enjoyable cruising. I think. LOL. Here's my other awards so to speak. Tony really has the best personality and delivery. I find Gary Bembridge to be the most informative on all manner of cruising, Ilana Schatauer is just plain charming. And Ben and David are quite the comedy team. Keep up the good work. One of these days, I'd like to see what on the videos what your family looks like. They are a lucky group. I might have seen it before but I forget. Bye for now.

I live in Atlantic Canada and I have been tempted by the New England cruises. My main tip would be that pace in the maritimes can be slower and you don’t necessarily get the thrilling excursions but be have something for everyone. You can easily go on a hike or if you are not active coffee and and or breweries are a plenty and worth checking out. In Halifax Cabin coffee for example is right by the board walk. And then a few streets up there is some lovely local shopping. While the boardwalk is cute I do advise climbing the hill a bit and exploring downtown Halifax. If your stop includes Charlottetown don’t overlook just exploring the downtown it has amazing food and lots of shopping along with also a boardwalk area. Saint John I am not familiar with the cruise port so I would just check on the location but I would consider skipping the reversing falls tours it honestly isn’t as crazy as it sounds but that is just me.

I’ve just returned from the Quebec-NY cruise on the Jewel OTS. We started with snow in Quebec and had every kind of weather in between. Cruisers need to be prepared for the customs day in your first US port-it was a little disappointing that we had to wait until 9:30 ish to get off the ship (the process didn’t take long) because we’d planned a full day of sightseeing in port (no excursions booked). That said, we made the most of the short time we had outside. The ports were refreshingly easy and not all that selling of the same old junk in the Caribbean. In fact, one port, Sanguenay, specifically does not allow selling in its port building. Yay! Other ports had more of a custom arts feel-upscale or crafty. The Jewel OTS was the biggest disappointment-she needs to be laid to rest. Food? meh….

Been on three all in October to or from Quebec. I am not a dead leaf person so no big deal but all my cruises were not much of a leaf event.
Quebec is the best..French Epcot. Halifax was nice walk on the water front, good eateries and a walk to the fort. Portland ok, Boston full of history. Newport ok. New York fantastic over 12 hours in port. Crazy city. My last cruise was 12 days, Quebec to Fort Lauderdale…looking see if there is a cruise in the spring going back. PS I did not use RC.
