They're making some premium products for budget prices. Great work SpeedyBee!
Amazing, SpeedyBee brings FPV Hobby back to life!
Hi Lee, WoW Speedybee is killing it with their new products. I can't wait until my next build to try it out. Thanks again for the video and information about Speedybee new products.
1:56 - I like these coloured pins a lot. Always provides an additional orientation to avoid to mess up things.
Agreed, they look sharp too :)
I use the 90 degree pins, and ground is oriented towards the earth (ground).
Finally, the battery pads in the front. In my builds it seems like the battery is always forward of the flight controller, the ESC pads are hit more miss when it comes to location, however the ESCs connections don't need to be moved like the battery connection. Seems like there is always more room behind the FC than in front of it. Plus seems like in most of my builds, most of the servo connections come from the back of the plane, not the front.
As a total novice, I was very impressed with the quality and presentation of their F405 wing board. I remember fumbling the soldering of AWG 14 power wires and needing to re-solder; good quality board and pads, since they didn't 'lift' off. Quality all-round.
This looks like just the ticket for my ZOHD Drift. Thank you for the review!
Great product, i have a couple normal size ones and i love them, will deff get some of these as well
good quality, good price (including cables etc) and small form factor. there's nothing to dislike
Love it so much, my next build going to use this mini version
Excellent review very helpful thanks Lee. for less than $40 that little thing can do all of that simply amazing .
Great Video as always , i mean Speedybee is really doing an amazing job with those FCs for wings
Very nice. Looks like great fit for Nano Goblin. I wish F4 AIO and F7AIO were in stock though. Great FCs for drones that use 4 ESCs.
Thanks Lee! I am absolutely dumbfounded that this board is $35! Wow! Talk about entering the market with a bang! I just ordered one off of your link.
Wow... If it's not more expensive than the other SpeedyBee wing FC... Then it's a non brainer, Lee! 😮
Great review as always!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The most interesting thing is the possibility fo connect an external bec !
thank goodness i ordered one of these yesterday, they're probably out today
Well I know what I'm buying next! Thanks Lee!
Wow! Just as i install my first 405
Interesting video, thanks.
The pricing is insane. Super stoked for this
Looks like a strong competitor to the Matek F405- WTN....🤗
This must be SpeedyBee's answer to the Matek F405 WTE. Just in time for some smaller scale builds
I mount my fc with heavy duty velcro it is sorta tough to remove but if you need to remove it is still doable
Having the PDB board at the top is acually a great idea. I'm using the normal sized Speedybee F405 Wing with the PDB at the bottom; needed to cover the soldered leads as sometimes it touches the bottom pins.
I'm still figuring out on how to expand the number of PWMs on the F405. I'm maxing out all 9 after putting in the pan/tilt headtracker on. Haven't found any good solution including on how to remap the 2nd motor to servo. Any ideas Lee?
Small version of the cursed YRF-4E, might benefit from this tiny unit, as it is powered by two 45mm fans . Not that itvwould ever reach a way point....lol but the tiny version is foam and is very light . 3gram servos seems wires keep getting smaller , and those darn tiny pads , ah this comes with wires major benefit. If I get it put together I'll send a picture. If it flies it will be the first model of the plane ever flown by R/C , thus the quest to build it. Original went in for new paint at museum about 12 years ago, I have some brushes in the garage perhaps I should lend a hand ..air force said no ....lol. Take care.
Hi Lee, love all your videos and all the info and teaching you share, want to ask you, I'm having problems with the speedy bee f405 wing with a t1 Ranger hee wing. It connects and start working properly, but at some point, al servos and motors stop working, fortunately I was able to discover this in bench testing before maiden. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Would love your input on this. 😅😅
Without a lot more information, it's tricky to guess. I'd do a thorough visual insoectiin and start unplugging things to see which ones stop it running... Best of luck
These boards are really good not only for wings, they're also good for land based vehicles such as crawlers etc. I do wish they'd incorporate a wing/rover setup to help being people more in to the car side of things.... They're almost already there with this kind of set up too!
Wait, you use this with a crawler? I assume just to do FPV part and not the stabilization?
@@shadow7037932 Yeah, I'm using something similar with my crawler, not for stabilization although it can be done if you want a camera gimbal. I mainly use it for the servo outputs, OSD and GPS data which comes in very handy for long range
I’d read that Speedybee was going to be releasing a V2 version of the “big” wing FC with a revised power board which supported Pinio for the VTX power rail. Hope they include that update in the mini.
Perfect starting point for a little tailsitter vtol ?
Thanks
Thank you! That was very kind!
I see they still haven’t fixed the one flaw in the TX1 and RX1 pins not bring on a nice lockable plug like the GPS and LED JST locking plugs.
Well, damn! Just after I bought 2 AtomRC F405 NAVI Mini... and those I don't recommend, at least as long as they use the wrong inav-target for this board (short: blackbox logging does not work on this board at the moment).
Great informative video. What is the difference between the Speedybee 405 and Matek 405 and which is better? Thank you in advance sir.
Better in what way? czcams.com/video/LjRATn6FWFc/video.html
Hi Lee, thank you so much for your informative review.
I found this video looking for a stabilizer for my MPX Easy Star 3 (Trainer airplane). I have been considering options like HobbyEagle, Sparrow, etc. All these options are easily above 60 EUR. However, there is this fantastic full flight controller with tons of features around 40 EUR? This seems to be no brainer! Am I missing something?
Thanks again!
Nope, you're not missing anything. This is a bargain (like it's bigger brother)...
Nice video as always.
Wat do you mean by: "if you want tot limit the heat dissipation in to your video transmitter"? @6.45min
Many components have a voltage range they will work with. Those higher supported voltages need to be dropped to the level that the hardware actually needs. That excess voltage is dissapated as heat so supplying the much higher voltage just makes it much hotter. If a unit needs 5-12v, I try and run it at the lower 5v voltage levels for this reason. I hope that helps.. Happy flying
The Speedybee takeover has begun 🎉
i wonder if this will work for a micro vtol build
would be great to see a full build video using this
Yes, should be. See my other builds. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 will do. great videos btw!
All we now need is SpeedyBee to produce an HD FPV camera/transmitter/goggles system at a more reasonable price?
love the layout and instructions BUT only 4 servos show up in the mixer, cold solder on the pad for the servo rail power, vtx pad had solder but not bridged, other that that i still like it, mauby the next one will work right
How odd. They are working perfectly here for me. Happy flying
is it possible to run the O3 on a 2S bat with this FC? I mean it is possible but will it handle voltages under 7.4V what is necessary for the O3 air unit?
Not sure, I don't fly the 03.. Best of luck
A mini with two esc pads….nice!
Andrew seemed to think the power board could go on the bottom, or the top.
It can, by mounting the FC upside down :D
@@Painless360 :). You got me to smile on a Monday morning, not a small accomplishment.
hello sir nice video!! , mmm i actually have a question so i was making and rc fixed wing airplane and i wanted it to go fast and thought about using drone ESC and motors since they are powerful and light weight with a pixhauwk and flysky-i6x transmitter and receiver and i was wondering would i need a drone flight controller ??? cause since the ESC can be programed and it supports controlling each motor enviously and the pixhauwk have the gyro and every thing + i m not gonna do insane drone stuff like maneuvers and etc would it be a problem to not use a flight controller . and thxxxx very much !!!
the ESC velox-V50A 6S 4IN1 32BIT from T-motors
and the motor is VELOX V2812 7-8"Longrange Fpv Racing Drone Motor 6S KV925 with a gefan 8040-3 prop
Please check out my 'Motor and Prop' series that covers all of that stuff for you... Best of luck!
Can you connect a DJI Air unit to this and still use the DJI controller ?? if so how do you connect ??? thanks
Yes, same as any other flight controller. See czcams.com/video/kHm9mE_IDeQ/video.html for examples..
At minute 1:30, you actually dropped the pin bar from your hand when you realized it was the German version ;)
this is going in my fpv car
That would be a great use for it! :D
Hi there, do you know how can i control the led of Hee wing T1 with this flight controller? I have found one LED solder pad on the board, but where the other 2 wires will go? This led solder pad is for the signal wire right?
A spare 5v pad and a GND pad.. Best of luck!
Thanks very much for the quick reply. I have watched all of your fixed wing build and review videos so far. I am new to fixed wing hobby. Lot to learn. Thanks again.
Would this work well on a rc boat too?
It would. Happy sailing!
Does this support frsky fport protocal receiver
Not sure, I don't use that here.. Best of luck.
When are these hitting the US?
That's a question for your local Speedybee reseller... Happy flying
Will this fit in a talon 250g?
Dimensions of the board in the video - I'd measure the space you have... it might!
Hi. Ive setup my f405 mini on inav 6 as a rover, so i can use it on my rc car. And connect to dji 03 air unit on goggles 2.
Got goggs setup fine and have image.... also i have working steering servo at S3.
The issue im having....is arming the thing. Everytime i flick switch on my MT12 to arm...the blue light and buzzer repeat in short fast blinks... till i get sick of hearing it.
I cant find anything to tell me audio error beep meaning.
What is it an how can i rectify it please.
Cheers
github.com/iNavFlight/inav/blob/master/docs/Buzzer.md should help you identify the cause. Best of luck
Hi thanks for reply..it ok ive sussed it all out. Were all up n runnin on full power!
czcams.com/video/hEEdlsOV-fo/video.html may help...
My one wish would be a pit switch but that’s a tiny gripe considering all the features and the price. To me there’s almost no reason to use the bigger one for most situations, you’re barely giving up any features.
