C'est juste fantastique, ça fait plaisir que des Français se bougent autant pour des voitures de sport - et pas juste des voitures avec gros moteurs. Je parle bien de voiture entièrement créées pour le sport. Félicitations à Renault Sport, continuez comme ça, vous déchirez !
I'm glad Renault did this, and they still did it with regular road tires, not semi-slick ones like Seat did. So this is a double win. You can clearly hear the difference in tone when tires squeal, semi-slick tires have very characteristic deep squeal noise, regula road tires have a higher piched noise and they squeal sooner, since they're not such a soft compound. Not to mention Seat is not sold at all in the configuration that set the record. And also, Seat uses VW technology, and it's a new car, Renault uses their own stuff and it's a 6-7 year old car basically, but still fastest. Imagine the new Megane RS next year. I really hope Renault use their 4 wheel steering technology on the Megane like they did on Laguna. Man that Laguna GT with 4 wheel steering is like a mini Nissan GTR, that's how much grip it has and how it goes trough corners, like on train rails. Plus it's very comfortable and smooth.

I mean you cannot understand how much grip this family sedan has until you've driven it. It's one of the most nimble cars i've seen considering the shape and the weight of it ! What a job Renault is doing with their chassis mate
Kaisuke971 Yea I know, I still remember saying after I drove the Laguna with 4WS for the first time that it was fastest car around corners that I've ever driven, it just carries so much speed trough corners without any drama. I know corners on the road that I drive on daily where a BMW 320d (e90) is comfortable at 110-115 km/h and then starts to get wiggly, but with Laguna 4control there was not even a hint of tire squeal at 120.
What amazed me was how stable this car looked. Only got out of shape once forcing some big wheel correction. Big congratulations to Renault for putting this up among the exotics.

***** The Cupra was not a car you can buy in the first place,already had the modifications like this Megane for the lap,and if you knew something about cars you'd know removing the rear seats (about -25 kg) wont improve your lap time by 4 seconds.
Nue Rroku Removing the airco, changing the front seats, lighter exhaust. This all adds up to more than 100kg less weight. Which has a significant impact on a nearly 21km lap.

Meilleures voitures que Renault a construit dans la catégorie Renault sport (meilleures chassie suspension mi souple pour attaquer les virage, perfect tenu de route est je peux vous l dire que ces le joker de la Megane RS ,tu peux attaquer le virage son perdre la vitesse est vraiment chapeaux.. tu son qu'il tient parfaitement sa trajectoire j'ai eu la chance de conduire la RS 265 ch de 2013 sur autoroute est je peux vous dire que tu peux attraper n'importe quel véhicule (golf gti ou R ou bien une bmw 135 i) reprise fulgurante comme si tu conduise une 300 ch ou plusse, j'ai attrapé des pointe de 250 a 256 km a l'heur moteur impeccable dyne de sa marque sauf un peu faible dans les grande vitesse de 220 est plus .. j ai un avis pour Renault jcp si ils pouvons augmenter la puissance de ce moteur a 300 ou 320 ch et le couple bien sur a 400 nl puisqu'elle a un chassie sport je pense qu'ils peut bien tenir! jcp je ne suis pas experte lol .. reste a voir vc les cardons... les disques.. IMHO, Japanese and French had had or have the best hot hatches. Renault Clio RS & Williams, Renault Megane RS, Peugeot 205 GTI, Peugeot 306 S16, Nissan Sunny GTi-R, Honda Civic Type R, Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg RS, Mazda 3 MPS etc. Maybe not always the fastest, but definitely always had THAT THING. Not as dull as Germans or forgotten and soulless as Italians.

For some reason the video of the Seat doing the Nurburgring record looked more exciting (that may be due to the artificial engine note on the Seat) and I'm pretty sure if Seat stripped the car's weight by 100 kg it would demolish Renault's new record. Although I do love this Renault and might actually buy it once I test drive it as it is the right formula. If only Renault could make a new direct injected turbo charged engine to get better power delivery then they have nailed it.

Do the MRS have Öhlins suspension like when you buy it? Thats a huge différence....i do buy bilstein for around 1000€, where ohlins costed more than the double....for the car behavior, thats a big difference especially on those kind of track...

I know that he is a professional pilot but some corners are very easy to take specially with such a chassis and it is clear that he lost a lot of milliseconds delaying the re-acceleration in the phase of exit in some corners!
Fantastic video,great driving got lots of balls lol... Everyone saying the civic will beat this record then fantastic good luck to honda, it just creates more motivation to the RS team and others to beat it again... that's racing... remember all that's change 10hp and suspension oh yeah and weight reduction. Lets see if Honda gets it right... they haven't gotten it right for a long time in the hot hatch arena. And to the RS team people only pick on a tree that bears fruit. Well done under 8 in a FWD car very good and well done to Seat as well. Lets see if honda vw ford and opel can join the few under 8 fwd cars. For me RS thank you very fun car to drive keep up the good work Ill be trading in my redbull edition for this one ;)
Grand bravo à Renault sur ce coup, ainsi qu'à Laurent Hurgon. J'ai une M3RS avec options cup depuis 2012 et j'attendais du nouveau de la part de Renault pour m'encourager à imaginer une autre RS : Clio ? nop désolé trop jouet megane rs 2014 ? le losange à l'air trop gros, pas d'évolution mécanique, juste quelques bits différents dans le soft là où bluefin fait plus. J'aimerais voir une évolution vers le haut en terme de finitions et perfs, genre : -suspension active pour rendre la caisse un peu plus confortable quand on conduit mémé au marché ou qu'on a juste mal à la tête : astra opc -moteur un peu moins gourmand, les allemands on l'air de s'en tirer mieux sur la A45AMG avec une boite auto, injection directe ? aérodynamique? -coté échappement/admission un peu plus de drame quand même car la voiture étant si stable, pas évident de sentir qu'on va vite avec avant de devoir tripler la limite légale. -éviter les couilles genre plancher/moquette du coffre trop étroit mal ajusté et qui s'affaisse au bout de 3 mois qui fait un peu low cost. ou les petit problème dès la première année genre tuyau d'admission qui se défait, plus de CV, 1 support moteur HS, j'ai du faire 10 bornes avec le moteur appuyé posé sur les bras de suspension et la biellette qui claque mnt mais soit disant elle est encore bonne donc je peux plus avoir un moteur sans aucun bruit quand je switch frein moteur/acceleration. La caisse est à 99% nickel et elle encaisse énormément de punition sans rien casser mais le dernier % est important pour monter en grade et en réputation. Chez WV c'est sur que la GTI ou la R est livrée avec une finition au poil. Maintenant la megane s'est installée dans le top niveau sportif mais coté agrément finition les allemands sont loin devant. Faut trouver l'ambition d'aller les chercher car vous avez la chance de pouvoir tout rafler. C'est sympa votre prépa cuircuit mais nous qui avons déjà une m3rs, faudrait nous annoncer que vu que ya pas de nouveau modèle avant longtemps au moins on devrait avoir le droit de commander les pièces genre suspension et programme avec les 275cv direct chez renault sport pour éviter bluefin et la perte de garantie ou de chercher le modèle de suspension compatible et devoir le régler soi même. Du coup je me sentirais plus attaché à la marque RS (mini cooper S, le kit john works a été proposé aux propriétaires de rs normale quand le modèle est sorti)

Is it because of the video, or the car sounds terrible?
For some reason the video of the Seat doing the Nurburgring record looked more exciting (that may be due to the artificial engine note on the Seat) and I'm pretty sure if Seat stripped the car's weight by 100 kg it would demolish Renault's new record. Although I do love this Renault and might actually buy it once I test drive it as it is the right formula. If only Renault could make a new direct injected turbo charged engine to get better power delivery then they have nailed it.
Akrapovic and ohlins? That's not available on factory production cars hehe.

Do the MRS have Öhlins suspension like when you buy it? Thats a huge différence....i do buy bilstein for around 1000€, where ohlins costed more than the double....for the car behavior, thats a big difference especially on those kind of track...

good job RST but if you compare with the old record you can clearly hear and see that the car is a lot faster than the previous trophy in the straight clearly more than 10hp

perfect car for corners!
I know that he is a professional pilot but some corners are very easy to take specially with such a chassis and it is clear that he lost a lot of milliseconds delaying the re-acceleration in the phase of exit in some corners!

Fantastic video,great driving got lots of balls lol... Everyone saying the civic will beat this record then fantastic good luck to honda, it just creates more motivation to the RS team and others to beat it again... that's racing... remember all that's change 10hp and suspension oh yeah and weight reduction. Lets see if Honda gets it right... they haven't gotten it right for a long time in the hot hatch arena. And to the RS team people only pick on a tree that bears fruit. Well done under 8 in a FWD car very good and well done to Seat as well. Lets see if honda vw ford and opel can join the few under 8 fwd cars. For me RS thank you very fun car to drive keep up the good work Ill be trading in my redbull edition for this one ;)

J'ai une M3RS avec options cup depuis 2012 et j'attendais du nouveau de la part de Renault pour m'encourager à imaginer une autre RS :
Clio ? nop désolé trop jouet
megane rs 2014 ? le losange à l'air trop gros, pas d'évolution mécanique, juste quelques bits différents dans le soft là où bluefin fait plus.
J'aimerais voir une évolution vers le haut en terme de finitions et perfs, genre :
-suspension active pour rendre la caisse un peu plus confortable quand on conduit mémé au marché ou qu'on a juste mal à la tête : astra opc
-moteur un peu moins gourmand, les allemands on l'air de s'en tirer mieux sur la A45AMG avec une boite auto, injection directe ? aérodynamique?
-coté échappement/admission un peu plus de drame quand même car la voiture étant si stable, pas évident de sentir qu'on va vite avec avant de devoir tripler la limite légale.
-éviter les couilles genre plancher/moquette du coffre trop étroit mal ajusté et qui s'affaisse au bout de 3 mois qui fait un peu low cost. ou les petit problème dès la première année genre tuyau d'admission qui se défait, plus de CV, 1 support moteur HS, j'ai du faire 10 bornes avec le moteur appuyé posé sur les bras de suspension et la biellette qui claque mnt mais soit disant elle est encore bonne donc je peux plus avoir un moteur sans aucun bruit quand je switch frein moteur/acceleration. La caisse est à 99% nickel et elle encaisse énormément de punition sans rien casser mais le dernier % est important pour monter en grade et en réputation. Chez WV c'est sur que la GTI ou la R est livrée avec une finition au poil.
Maintenant la megane s'est installée dans le top niveau sportif mais coté agrément finition les allemands sont loin devant. Faut trouver l'ambition d'aller les chercher car vous avez la chance de pouvoir tout rafler.
C'est sympa votre prépa cuircuit mais nous qui avons déjà une m3rs, faudrait nous annoncer que vu que ya pas de nouveau modèle avant longtemps au moins on devrait avoir le droit de commander les pièces genre suspension et programme avec les 275cv direct chez renault sport pour éviter bluefin et la perte de garantie ou de chercher le modèle de suspension compatible et devoir le régler soi même. Du coup je me sentirais plus attaché à la marque RS (mini cooper S, le kit john works a été proposé aux propriétaires de rs normale quand le modèle est sorti)
