    The 6xx or HD650 and the Bottlehead crack with speed ball are worth at least a thousand dollars more than you pay for them and can be an end game set up for any audiophile.

    I’ll always have and enjoy my OG Sen’s 650’s …tho when I want a more intense experience..LCDX 2021 Creators Package ( my personal endgame) but the Sen’s will always have a place in my headphone stable.

    I had the 6XX and 650 and ended up keeping the 650, but would be happy with either. Agree with everything you're saying here. On a smaller scale, I think the Koss PortaPro falls into the same sort of "keeper" / "reference" standard but for portables. The PortaPro even does scale a bit on better equipment. It makes headphones a lot more fun when they change as you go up the chain.

      I typo-ed here. I had the 6XX and the *600* (not the 650) and kept the 600. It's my understanding there are no consequential differences between the 6XX and the 650. @@HimalayanChicken

    After watching this I had to pull mine out. These still amaze me. They like a lot of push to make them go, they seem to work best for me with the magni piety amp. This is an awesome pairing. I have an amp that boasts 8 watts output, but the piety blows that amp away as far as output and sonic replay😅

    Hi, great and interesting video, the price currently is $199, I bought mine at the price recently, it did used to be made in Ireland mine was made in Romania and you get a 1.8m cable , its comes in a plain box not the nice hinged box previously and a 3m cable, I have fitted the custom cans mid which Inproves the bass on lower end. I now prefer these ones compared to my hd660 s1. Overall it's a great headphone fir the price , regards mark

      I would also love to review it, and all their other stuff I haven't heard yet. Last I talked to them they said they were suspending sending out review units because they were struggling to keep up with demand. That's made it hard to review pieces of Schiit. Either I have to buy one myself (which I certainly don't have the funds to do regularly) or get a loaner unit from a 3rd party (happens occasionally but not consistently). I can reach out to them again and see if they're in a better position.

    There are many a time I actually preferred the hd650 on a tube amp over the Utopia and the Susvara. Utopia's tone is slightly off compared to hd650, the Susvara is more natural than the Utopia, but Susvara does not have that dense voicing of the hd650. Of course there are things the Utopia and Susvara does better, but the hd650 is nothing to scoff at when plugged into an appropriate chain. It can hang with the big boys all day and then some.

    @enjoshi-godrez8775 Před 10 měsíci +21

    Nah, its bass is mushy, overly warm, and has very poor extention for me to own. Effectively, sennheiser saw all the subjective problems of the 600 like its poor, left front right imaging making everything sound too closed in, and instead of making a better headphone, they just put a vail over it so it wasnt as intense. Its still the best tuned warm headphone in existence if thats what you want, but it has way too many problems to be universal. Its a headphone for people that think they listen to a wide genre of music, but actually don't come near that description.

    I thoroughly hate the HD6XX, HD650, and HD600. I don't think they are even remotely capable in general, let alone some kind of miracle with mids. They have good midrange timbre but not tuning. That is literally it. Nothing else. Couple that with the veil they have, total lack of bass, total lack of detail, total lack of soundstage width height and depth, total lack of any convincing imaging and what you have at the end is a whole bad headphone that does almost nothing right. Their hype is the most overblown hype in the history of audio and it will never be eclipsed by anything else ever again because it was a total anomaly that it got so much praise in the first place.

    • @soulfulfool

      @pokrog Před 2 měsíci

      @@soulfulfool And that's what I'm saying. I'm not saying they should compete with the TOTL end of the market, but I am saying that praising them like they're the greatest entry level headphone and acting like they're impossible to hate is just thoroughly braindead. I personally actually do think they kinda sound like shit even at their price point and even with EQ or tubes, their technicalities are honestly extremely lacking, especially the way the market is nowadays. They can't slam with any authority even with EQ, they can't stage, they image like trash, they have too forward mids, lack detail and treble extension, and have a pretty thick veil in the mids that obscures a lot of texture and detail and while the mids timbre might be very decent, the tuning and veil definitely makes them come off as almost honky and hazy. I totally get why people like them, but I really really don't think they're anything special at all and certainly don't deserve to be a default recommendation, especially when they're downright bad on entry level signal chains which kinda excludes them from entry level hobbyists. I understand their place in the hobby and I do agree that if you're deep into the hobby and are trying to find your perfect headphones that you should probably own and keep the HD6XX for comparisons and direction when reading/watching reviews so you can get a really good idea of the comparisons since they're so common, but to me, that's basically their sole purpose anymore.

      @@pokrog yes I agree, those and any of high impedance headphones are not for amateurs without decent gear but if you notice what mainstream users do like which is mostly bass you got there obvious answer 😅 they dont care about details or bass texture, layering etc with headphones veiled like that they never gonna know that details exist in their songs haha but also like I said they dont care
