Q.1. What is Potassium Hydroxide ?
A.1. Potassium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula KOH.
- It is commonly known as Caustic Potash.
- It consists of one atom of Potassium (K), one atom of Oxygen (O) & one atom of Hydrogen (H).
- It is colourless, odourless & white or slightly yellow, flakey or lumpy solid which is often in a water solution.
Q.2. What is the Uses of KOH ?
A.2. It is commonly used in lab for see the fungal elements present in skin, hair, nail & sputum sample.
- It is also used in making soap, as an electrolyte in alkaline batteries and in electroplating, lithography, and paint and varnish removers. Liquid drain cleaners contain 25 to 36% of Potassium Hydroxide.
Q.3. How to Prepare 10%, 20% & 40% KOH Solution ?
A.3. e.g :-
For 10% KOH Solution : 👇
Measure 10g KOH Pellets
Add 100 ml Distilled Water.
