When I chase boxes into block work, generally it’s dot and dab which is 25mm to the front of the board. I use a 25mm metal back box to sit flush with the surface of the brick around the box I’m chasing in, just stops me chasing too deep!

You mentioned nail gun buddy, think.you should try tapping up hikoki, their gasless 1st fix nailer is brill, I use it for my 1st fix electrical noggins on new builds, it's the mutts, I had a paslode im360ci, can honestly say it's better. Great videos pal.
Should have utilised the top of the wall zone you don’t have to do any drilling through any joists just clip direct to the wall.

I would personally used capping over the cables far better job.

That first problem was never a problem. Easy solution
I agree could have dropped down in the corner within zone 150mm then horizontal to sockets or if wall is less than 100mm could of dropped down other side to sockets either all the way down or just below joist and burst through. But to be fair he did choose the best route. But the point is the regs allow for plenty of options.
Just don't drill middle of the joist, use normal drill n go at the bottom
