    Apple always dominates all-in-one computers, but other brands have excellent offerings if you don't like the macOS ecosystem. For example, this HP Envy line has some impressive features, but it feels slightly a last year device, even though it's releasing this year. Nevertheless, it can still give remarkable performance.

    Holy smokes, is this an actually decent AiO? I'm honestly impressed. I didn't think I'd ever see something like this. I'm not the target audience for this, but as far as these things go, this seems really well put together. Also, it's kind of impressive that it manages to remain so quiet under load

      The fact that you can add RAM and a drive, which honestly is all most people would ever even want to add, with all that I/O makes this a really impressive AIO. I could easily see recommending this for someone's home office or the like.

      Also, the fact that it has a HDMI output means that once the screen dies, you can still use it with an external monitor. Which is something I always hated about other AiO where if the screen died, go buy a new one.

      People don't upgrade ram. It's been proven. The only time is happens in any appreciable amount is when someone buys the lower model, and more RAM at the same time, and immediately installed it. To save the $300 to go from the 8 gig to the 16 gig model, they buy 8 gig model and $120 worth of ram at the same time, and save $150. Other than that, people aren't upgrading ram down the road. This is the same as the comment about adding display in for AIO computers, so they can be used as monitors after that. The same as the tiny group of people that want sports cars and supercars to have manual transmissions. That tiny group of people are statistically irrelevant. Most of the time the vocal ones aren't even in the market for a supercar, so their opinion is even more irrelevant. Same goes for the ram and monitors. The vocal people are generally enthusiasts who would never buy an AIO anyways. So they would never be in the situation to use it as a standalone monitor anyways.

      Yeah, so much excellence in his Persona in fact, that he's saying stuff like "Apple used to care" to only spread toxic misinformation. He can criticize the SSD being soldered in in Macs, but there's a reason Apple uses soldered in memory in M1 Macs. The reason is they're using much faster and much more power efficient LPDDR memory. The LPDDR5 memory Apple uses in the new MacBooks and the Mac Studio runs at 6400MT/s, as fast as overclocked and much more power hungry DDR5. They can do that only because the memory is soldered in (not to mention in the same SoC package), so they can control the signal flow and integrity much better.

    11:00 I hate the fact that the deal between HP and B&O is heavily based on software. They do this on their laptops as well.
    The problem is, say you want to stream/record you game and you don't have other speakers or headphones plugged in(i.e. you have to use the speaker on the monitor/laptop). You will end up streaming the altered version of the sound that sounds right to you but might sound weird to the viewers. You need to turn off the B&O software so that your viewers can hear the REAL sound but then it will sound horrible on your end.

      What more do you need to know? But wait for 12gen. It will be hugely more power efficient. Otherwise I think it is a practical little machine. The screen will out-life the other components probably in terms of performance so from a sustainability standpoint not the greatest. Just a word of caution, I own the 340c ultra-wide and had to turn the screen in for HP to replace the Bang olafsun speakers as one of the channels died after just a few months. They were good with some tweaking but if they break, your machine is kinda screwed.

      This is a good AIO and some of the features it has is cool (like that auto-rotating camera, the I/O in the stand, and the wireless charger built into the base of the stand), but Anthony saying stuff like "Apple used to care" is just toxic misinformation. He can criticize the SSD being soldered in in Macs, but there's a solid reason why Apple used soldered in memory in M1 Macs.

    • @origosis
      @origosis Před 2 lety

      @@utubekullanicisi Nah you are just arguing 2 extremes. The answer Anthony is referring to is something in the middle. Apple's choices do indeed have performance incentives. But make no mistake they are making those choices with an anti-consumer mindset.

    In my experience, I wouldn’t diss the wireless charger on the computer. Reason being ever since I bought my iPhone 13, I noticed my old wireless chargers do not work with the iPhone. I’m assuming the magnets on there are doing something to mess with the coils. Since you both tested with iPhones, that could be a reason why?

    • @Underskore

      that'd be why, qi charging works off of magnetism.

    • @littlejackalo5326
      @littlejackalo5326 Před 2 lety +23

      It's because Apple disabled support for low powered qi chargers. New iphones with magsafe magnets use the same exact technology as every other qi phone and dock. The magnets have nothing to do with the qi coil. They did the same with the apple watch.

    • @MrRinre
      @MrRinre Před 2 lety +2

    • @ViXoZuDo
      @ViXoZuDo Před 2 lety +11

      I'm pretty sure the problem is that he didn't align it properly, and that charger is probably a single coil one. That's why Jonathan iphone started to charge while Anthony's didn't.

    Hosted by someone who is normal too. Cause I strongly feel that every tech reviewer I follower loses touch with the normal persons needs. Including LTT, unbox therapy, mkbhd, even the every day dad.
    I feel LTT is the only crew who can pull this off because any individual who starts a CZcams channel needs to ride the high of bleeding edge tech to gain attention and succeed but LTT has an audience already and funding to make such a channel.

    So in a dark room with a triple monitor set up, open Wikipedia or some website that’s predominantly white on both ~350nit side monitors and it actually gives pretty nice soft lighting for a zoom call. With this being a ring light and like 500 nits, I imagine in similar conditions it would actually be pretty effective - if it works with zoom/teams whatever and it also might be super annoying in that scenario as it takes up a lot of your screen. Cool idea though!

    I really like this approach of different staff coming to stare at a product and giving their impressions, especially Horst, who - as he said so himself - is mostly in this Apple world all day long which makes his input a nice contrast to the PC/Android folks on the team. Not that the awesomeness that is Anthony can be defined by being a fan of one platform or even seven.
    Something similar has already been done with a couple of monitors impressions as far as I remember. The number of people remarking on how other companies are copying the built-in webcam on the Studio Display is hilarious. First, this is an all-in-one desktop, not a monitor. It’s common for AIOs to have webcams. Second, the Samsung S4 monitor has a webcam and was launched in September 2021, before the Studio Display. And *before that* in January, Dell launched a series of monitors with built-in cameras. Both companies were targeting the WFH audience that ballooned all of a sudden… for some reason.

      @@MrRinre I don't have any server. I do play games, and I've actually stuck with 32GB of ram for two generations in a row. My next will probably be a step up though, as I won't be getting a new rig for a few years most likely.
      I don't really need 32GB, but I do play some games that get greedy, and including my other programs and the OS I've exceeded 18GB of ram at times. 24GB would probably be fine for me, but having some additional insurance is good.
      I do occasionally do video encoding too, though not enough for me to really need 32GB, I think (Handbrake, 4K/60 usually).
      Basically, better to have it and not need it, and need it and not have it. The cost difference between high speed 24GB and 32GB isn't that big, especially when you compare it to the cost of say, a flagship GPU.

    Could there be some GSync magic going on here with the built in mobile GPU? Some laptops support it (but only on the primary display for most of them). I find it suspect that it's exactly 60fps. Also, that's actually fairly decent for a mobile GPU for that resolution. Sure it might not be "5k" but (double?) ultrawide is plenty more pixels to render and works decently in most recent games (older games mighty need a mod, or custom configuration, or at worst, windowed mode or black boxes).
    Definitely would like Windows 11 to not suck as much for this sort of thing, the snapping and desktop organization functionality would be quite useful on such a large display.
