Sir the pressure gauge read 0 when you attached it to your cycle... but you already had some air in your tires if I am not wrong. It only starts increasing on filling more air, so does it count the extra air you fill in and not the actual tire pressure? A bit confused...

No, there was no air in the tire when I inserted it, for the demonstration, I released all the air from the tire before testing it. And, yes it shows the level of the existing air present in the tire.
