  • Hey guys this is my new Denix non firing replica, it only fires capped dummy rounds from denix, It's a lovely piece; great for display, your western gun collection, and cosplay. The overall length is 11" with a 5-1/2" barrel and weighs in at 3 pounds. It's nickle plated with faux ivory grips. I purchase it from www.discountcutlery.net
    Note: Please do not take this toy/replica out in public it can be mistaken for the real thing and you can get hurt or arrested, keep the displaying/playing in your home or any private property with permission from the owner, be safe and enjoy your new replica. Please note that I am not responsible for any injuries or any legal actions taken for mistreatment of this replica.

    A LITTLE TIP- if you risk breaking your dummy bullets when dry firing, here's a solution. You really need one spare set of dummies for this.
    After you have fired six of the supplied caps, use a touch of superglue to stick them securely in the six(dry-firing only) dummies. They should then act as a cushion so's not to impact the two castellated extensions on the ends of the cap-firing dummy cartridges. Replace the spent plastic caps as necessary.

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  Před 2 lety +2

      Great tip, I think even a dab of hot glue behind the taps will be even better, since hot glue is rubbery when cooled it will give it even more cushion. Yeah you really do need spares, I bought 6 packs to ensure I am always packing caps. LOL Thanks for watching my video.

    Thank you so much for the video. It’s the only one I could find on this particular version of the peacemaker. I just ordered one myself. Also, how has the replica held up after spinning or usage over time? Also, would you recommend any stands or other display tool for the replica?

      Hey James The Person, Thanks for watching my video I'm glad I was able to help. Lets see so far all of my peacemakers have held up great, this one also and I have dropped it twice while I was spin it and it did not break or chipped at all. For a stand, I never bought one, but I did find this one on amazon www.amazon.com/Denix-Wooden-Pistol-Dagger-Stand/dp/B00BCDXRAE has some nice customer review pics and for a wall plaque I would make my own, I would buy the wall hangers www.discountcutlery.net/DX28-Denix-Replica-Sword-or-Gun-Hanger_p_34736.html and a piece of white pine board 1"x8" by 2 feet or bigger, which really measures at 3/4"x7-1/2" x 2' cut them down to 15"-16" long and stain or paint and add any add on's like this display here gunsofold.com/pat_garrett_dk.jpg you can do a google image search for pistol wooden wall displays and get ideas from others. How this helps and if you have any other question please feel free to ask.

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey LetHal_Snail 92, It's ok that's why I make videos to help. Technically any holster for a single action army revolver should fit well, the problem is how they are made, finding one that is made well will cost a bit more then finding one that will fit but looks like crap, with unfinished edges, and machine sewn with thin thread vs hand sewn (which is much stronger) with thick thread, is it made from veg tanned leather or a softer leather, denix makes holster also but they are ok for the price but they will not last long and doesn't look so good and made with thin leather. I myself have been making some holsters and have been thinking of make them for sell, they are handmade and hand sewn using thick veg tanned leather, or single action armies, and modern revolvers as well, I'll probably make a video showcasing them.

      Well technically its a non-firing replica reproduction for anyone 18 years old or older, it just so happens that Denix makes dummy capped bullets to pop plastic caps to make it into a cap gun, but these are not labeled for children and it weighs to much for a young child, and to purchase you still have to be 18 years old, but assuming you or your guardians are 18 years or older and live in a state or country that allows replicas of this manner then you can purchase them.

      Well, that's a little disappointing. I've always found the model 3 interesting, as it predates the SAA by a few years. I've own a few modern, and real Smith and Wesson pistols myself, so there may be a bit of personal bias as well. Do they have any dummy spent casings? Seems only appropriate that if specific dummy rounds exist, spent casings should also be available for possible film purposes. Because the replicas can't fit actual rounds, I assume they can't fit genuine spent casings either.
      Edit: is the cylinder movable with the hammer uncocked? I've seen some other videos on the Denix replicas that suggests so. The actual revolvers don't do that.

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  Před rokem

      @@WindowLickingDeer Denix do not sell spent casings, that I know of, but they do sell replica dummy bullets that look real; Yeah Id wish they would make most of their replicas shoot caps, I that that would be a great selling point, the only pre-1870 gun that shoots caps are the 1851, and 1860 colt navy and army, the derringer, the dragoon, and their 1825 Italian percussion cap pistols. Yeah the cylinder chambers are drilled smaller and the barrels are plugged so you wont be able to fire real live rounds, the cylinder on some denix models are a little loose, but you have to spin them by hand, and there is some resistance when the hammer is uncocked.

      Hey Joseph, thanks for watching my video, is a replica from Denix of a1873 western frontier revolver which originally only came in .45 caliber, now denix reduces the size of the chambers/dummy rounds so they pass international laws and so customers dont load them up with real live ammo, all of Denixes replicas are non firing, with plugged barrels and are only for show pieces and display to be safe.

      For what I read in most states you can own any non firing replica antique pistol, or revolver from 1898 and below., but just as long you don't take them out on public and don't menace people with it it'll be fine. Also in Kentucky and California you have to buy any non firing replica pistol with a wall plaque for it to be legal. Hope this helps.

    How I wish I could buy this (and other types) in NYC

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  Před 3 lety

      Hey xandershiller, Thank you for watching my video, well for what I could find online you should be able too, because under nyc code and nys code you are able to own any replica antique firearm from 1898 and below just as long it is for display purposes and its a non firing antique replica and it is not a gift for a child under 18 which if it is it has to be brightly colored, what's illegal in New York state and city is owning any replica modern firearms which is any firearm made to look like the real thing post 1898 and non firing and or demilitarize this are only allowed for military and police training facilities, movie prop houses, and theaters with permits. Now there are some companies that don't do their homework on NY laws and they will not ship out any non firing antique firearms pre-1898 at all like amazon and ebay but if you look around you will find companies that will ship to NY like discountcutlery.net and knifecountryusa.com assuming that they haven't changed their policy. But of course I will urge you to do your own google search on the subject and please don't my word for it because I am not a lawyer, and I am not responsible for any damages that may arise if you do buy a replica, but I have done my research on the subject. Hope this helps.

      @@JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen WOW I appreciate this so much. I'm from Brooklyn and I'm probably the last New Yorker to buy the last cap gun ( Detective special, snub nose.. bright green, orange and rainbow colored but it was also a very cheap replica of the real thing.. some CZcamsrs alter them to shoot airsoft. I just found out that Airsoft guns are actually legal in NYC but I'm skeptical. You see, my attraction to guns is very sentimental and aesthetic (as a kid in the Soviet Union, most of our toys were jammed guns or toy guns that were serious looking replicas) from WW2. So I love them just like ppl like other forms of art like cars or buildings etc..I love the design of guns (specifically revolvers, glock and a traditional pump action shotgun w real wood).. but it's almost impossible to explain it to someone without getting an odd stare.. I just can't seem to get my hands on either airsoft or bb guns idk. Or even a good looking paintball .I enjoy replicas in the same way. I wanted to tell n ask u a few other things but I have to run. Do you have any links to all the legal regulations u found? Again.. many thanks 😎

      @@XanderShiller No problem, lol Yeah me too, I've had a great admiration for guns ever since I was a little kid, so much so I wanted to become a police officer, I always had a full metal detective special cap gun with handcuffs and a set of chrome plated western revolver cap gun set with holster, I remember being a kid playing with my friends cops and robbers and army in the neighborhood, (late 80's) today we would be shot and arrested for crimes against humanity, LOL. Airsoft is legal in NYS but not in the city you need a handgun permit, I know stupid law, but upstate you can have pellet guns, bb guns, airsoft, and antique replicas of any type pre-1898 of course(antique replicas only). I to love the look of a traditional rifle and shotgun which you can own with permits easily if you are a hunter and hunt game in NYS. wow thats cool to play with ww2 guns like that, now those guns are a collectors dream and are very expensive, here we called them demilitarized and still very expensive. Yeah here in the city and in most cities you will be very oppressed and subject to crazy laws, you will have to move upstate, my favorite town is Chenango County and any town near it, the freedom you have to be the person you want to be plus the country side is so beautiful and quite, now if you really want gun freedom then Tennessee is the state for freedom. oh here the link its in section 2 newyorkcityguns.com/prop-guns/ any other questions then you can contact me from my email which is in my channel under about. later

      @@JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen awesome.. I've been trying to get a ride upstate for years now hoping I can walk into a Walmart and walk out with at least a Daisy red ryder. Funny u mentioned the detective special.. in the early Soviet 90s, there was a metal one on display at a store where everything cost more than gold lol.. idk how she knew, but my aunt got it for me on my 8th bday and it was of the best quality I've ever felt.. the caps were as loud as a real gun, the metal was unbreakable, weighed a few lbs and was basically a lawless replica. I even liked it more than my double barrel shotgun which would shoot nails (lol it sounds crazy.. the toys we had,). Tyvm for the link I'll def check it out.
      P. S. I tried searching for an airsoft store in NYC and I believe I found one either in queens, Manhattan and/or Long Island (L. I. Would make sense but the other boroughs were either my mistake or an optimistic surprise) although I asked for spring powered items but they said they only carry electric and co2, which I personally don't like (I know it's more powerful and practical but I still insist on a more old-school look, feel and design.. and yes I get that it's silly. Unless I'm at a range.. then idc as long as I can hit the target.. but when it comes to my personal ideal collection, shooting is only one aspect of it ..the design is just as important if not more so.. I'm rambling I know lol sorry.
      Another thing - I'm an actor and was wondering what movies use as "prop guns" (blanks? Replicas? Remote control guns etc?) The one indie film I did was full of plastic airsoft guns which passed as real on camera.. and addiction the "bang" in post production. There was a story recently about cops arresting actors during a scene where there was a car chase with shooting out the windows lol so obviously the cops must've been on high alert. Apparently they didn't have one of the filming permits you need or something..
      Before Covid I wanted to get a job at the Mayor's office for media and entertainment or Governor's office for motion pictures bc (I assume that anyone who wants to film a project/movie etc in NYC must go through these offices to obtain the necessary permits and I thought.. hmm.. this might be a great opportunity for networking. My bad for the ADHD tangents and the typos..it's just great to meet people like yourself who seem to understand what others would label as crazy, dangerous, irresponsible, unnecessary, suspicious etc etc.. ironically I hate sudden loud noises so I'm not too likely to run around shooting or acting stupid. I've recently found that playing with revolvers and other guns (unloaded, on safety, etc ) has the same effect on anxiety as those stress balls, or those spinning toys.. so that's interesting..
      Hbu what do you prefer? Airsoft, BB/pellet, paintball, blanks, replicas, electronic, co2 or spring? Any favorites?
      Pleasure to meet you sir *shakes hand*

      @@JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen also, I had a metal replica of the revolver in this video (as a toy for kids lol) but I'm not sure if it was the same exact model tho pretty close. It was black. I'm almost sure it was real.. NOTHING about it said "not real".. don't remember the exact measurements but the revolving drum pulls out and one can load the appropriate bullets.. the barrel was devoid of any blocking adjustments like you'd see in one that shoots blanks.
      Kids in the US, used to trade baseball cards or action figures.. while we were trading real bullets and all types of "replicas" at recess.. everyone had a relative who had military paraphernalia..(I never heard of any accidents or shots..there's naturally a few idiots shooting each other with BBs or paintball but that was surprisingly rare). one day we had a test and the teacher went around collecting everyone's weapons..by the time she was done she had a mountain of guns on her desk..i can't make this s--t up lol.
