Joe, I bought a Dewalt 20-volt battery operated fan to help me sleep or survive if the power goes out. It works well and is adjustable. I too find it amazing just how fast the power companies work around here. It seems no matter the time of day or night they are on the job fast. Bravo.

I've seen one of those pole mounted transformers get hit by a lightning strike.Made one hell of a bang! The Thai Electric company got it replaced in a couple of hours.
Great Lunch and great price and friendly people ! :) That pole fire brings back memories, I worked at Monsanto HQ in St. Louis in the 90's and we saw a transformer glowing bright orange on a pole then explode and popped another one down the line, it was daytime but scary like what you caught on your video. Stay safe ! :)

Well i could not stop laughing Joe you were planning for all of you to go out to lunch until Gift showed you that she had started preparing food and then you said how long then she said about 1 hour Good old Gift said you will have to wait well looking at what she had cooked was definately waiting for 10/10.
So in a few days you will be reunited with your son David what a great family reunion all together again.

Hello Joe Gift & Mom! Unbelievable prices for such amazing food. Can't they use insulated wiring that is fireproof? Is there homeowners or fire insurance available in Thailand? The firefighters made quick work of the fire! Seemingly good response from them and the electric company to minimize the damage. First time seeing an incident like this from any vlogger's channels. WOW! Amazing containment and turnaround with the down time! Fortunately, minor damage only! Best wishes, good fortune, health and happiness to everyone. Stay safe
Thank you 🙏. There is homeowners fire insurance available in Thailand. I believe some of those wires were somewhat fire resistant.

The same thing happened in front of my villa at 1am. Not as bad as your vidio. My electric meter caught fire due to an animal. PEA was already at my house by the time I saw the fire. I text my electrician at 3am and he came at 6 to replace the wires to my house. By 8am, PEA had a new meter installed with electricity restored.

Those transformers on poles are always popping. I remember Buzz in Pattaya was doing a walkaround and one exploded right behind him up the road.
I think that it may have something to do with the moisture in the air but I’m not certain.
Glad you're all OK. Just watched a video today from "notime2bsad" Chuck was talking about the wiring in Thailand. I live in South Florida - We go through no electricity from time to time - hurricanes and just power outages.

Thank you 🙏. Unfortunately, with electrical fires 🔥 water should not be used. What they were using was Class C fire extinguishers for electrical fires.

Wow! that is bad electrical fire, when you see something like that you should turn off you main power to the house so you will not have power surge that will kill a lot of your electronics, then wait until the problem is fixed then turn on the appliances and the electronics back on one at time, not all at once.
BTW, the fire truck was so close to the power lines that may fall down anytime on to the fire truck.

Should be a requirement in Thailand for new builds to have some PV - solar battery systems, this would give you some backup if ever power supply goes down plus help to supplement existing and do your bit for climate change.
We are currently looking into the cost of solar. Unfortunately, some Thais barely have enough money to build just a small family home and adding solar to that price would be unaffordable for them.

I hope nobody was injured. I'm really surprised that there are not way more electrical line fires with all the rats nest of wire all over. I personally don't know how they would ever know where to start tracing any problems. It's crazy..
Thankfully no one was injured. Actually they did a real good job and had our electricity back on within 2 hours of the fire being put out.

There are rentals available but I would suggest that you just come visit, stay in a hotel for a few days while you look around for a place that suits your needs. Hotel prices range from 500 baht a night and up for decent rooms. While here, just ask around and I’m sure you will find a decent place. Hope this helps.

The way it is burning in one place on the pole you have to hope the pole doesn't break in half
I believe the poles are made to withstand fire. They are made out of steel and concrete.

No one was hurt and both the fire department and electric company did a great job.
It's a shame so many electricity poles have a bird nest of unused unsightly wires,it looks terrible and what's the use because there a bad fire hazard.
I believe a lot of those wires are from phone, internet and cable networks. Amazingly them seem to figure it out.
