The Western Cape in South Africa has seen a phenomenal amount of rain in the past two weeks. This has caused multiple damns to open the flood gates and rivers overflowing.
Many towns are experiencing lots of damage which includes businesses, houses and farms. Lots of residents are sitting without electricity and even some towns that are completely cut off, because entrances/exits to these towns were swept away by the water.
I will try and cover more of the damages and flooding within the coming days. Be sure to like and subscribe if you don't want to miss out.

I live right next door in Wellington. Heard of Paarl being flooded but never thought it was as bad as this. Great video, thanks

I also couldn't believe how bad it was. So many businesses and people affected. And I haven't even been everywhere yet.
The current rain is also not going to help with making it easier 😔
      Thank you for watching 😁

    Thank you Christoff.
    Your filming has been great.
I am on floodplain farmland in Australia and am keen to know how bad this flooding is compared to average flooding, and also, is this anywhere in the same area that was suffering when Capetown had very little water.
It looks like the water was needed, but obviously the infrasturcture has taken a hammering.
We get little bits of information here about SA, but it is hard to apply it if you are not a longer time local.

Thank you so much for the kind words 😁
Oh wow, I love it there. Australia is the one place I would not mind living. Loved it there!
So the flooding we are currently experiencing is way worse than before. The closest date that we've had such waters, was apparently in 1995. And yes, this is the same area that experienced the drought back in 2017. One of the main dams that supply water is actually very close to me. All of those dams are now completely full of course. We have seen massive amounts of rain in the past two weeks, so yes, the infrastructure just can't handle so much water. And when they opened the flood gates, that also didn't help.
Within a few hours we are getting a lot of rain again according to the weather man, so we are waiting nervously to see what is going to happen.

@@ChristoffSmit thanks again, Christoff. Just the info I was hoping for, although it is tough going for you all. I am trying to become skilled at understanding weather patterns, and we are getting nervous over a posible el Nino event this year.
The area you are in seems to be similar to some of big open areas of Australia., but Australia is larger and more diverse than most people realise. I imagine SA is as well.
In the mid 90's I was concierge at an expensive Hotel in Brisbane, a more touristed area of Australia. A number of more worldly travellers told me they considered Cape Town as the most beautiful city in the world. Not sure if this is still the case, but no doubt your place is lovely.
Stay well, and keep up your efforts. Appreciated!

We are sitting with the same problem in Paarl / Wellington and I hear Cape Town as well. This is bad indeed 😔 I'll keep an eye out on any extreme floodings. Good luck there

Hi Christoff.... when did the floods happen? This is so terrible :(

It is absolutely terrible. The losses and damage is heartbreaking.
This started mid last week and these companies had flooding issues until yesterday still. Only from today it seems like everything is normalizing again.
