I bow in gratitude that Peter A. Levine exists. I wish I could meet this man as long as he is still around. Such wisdom and humility.

Dr. Levine is the. friggen. man. His work is paramount, and to doubt or envy this is simply a waste of everyone's time. I was on schizoid and depression meds through my 20's until Levine taught me how to fight medusa. It was one a hell of a ride for about 6months, but I stuck with it, and now I'm off meds. I'm mindful and abiding of my own senses and vulnerabilities. I am generally more healthy, "inteligent" & down to earth. Keep printing Levine.

So basically you went from Gandalf the Grey to Gandalf the White because of Dr. Levine. Glad you overcame.

    Can you discuss circumcision please??!
I was strapped down to a table and had my foreskin cut off, without anesthesia, and at the direct request of my parents.
Honestly I can't even think about my penis without becoming highly distressed. I think about how important 'body autonomy' is to so many people and I just cry.
    Thanks.

I am so so so sorry that it was done to you. I had the same tonsillectomy as lady in the story. Still I had experience much worse than that.

I have a lot of respect for Dr. Levine and this method. One of the undiscussed aspects of Somatic Experience is revisitation. Session one discover and acknowledge feelings as a result of trauma, release the pent up energy, improve feeling and function. What happens when the patient keeps revisiting the trauma and feelings manifest again? Lather rinse repeat? Redo the process? How do you handle trauma that keeps persistently emerging? That a person is having trouble shaking?

That's a beautiful process of healing, very creative and therefore... unpredictable as far as repetition goes.
I believe we all have great powers in us that just need the right sort of trigger to become alive and kicking.
The experience of being "put to sleep" with ether, to have the tonsils taken out, is something I remember well.
There's no after-effect in my life, but I remember the fury that rose up in me, for not being told what, why and
what for I had to have that big black rubber mask over my face and being asked to breath deeply.
I believe the fury saved me, for freezing is the opposite of it, isn't it?

This reminds me of some of the videos I’ve seen about the ayahuasca experiences done with Shamans. I wonder if this method brings about a person’s physic healing in a safer way? Interesting for sure!
