Been using these clippers for over a year now, personal use. It is doing an excellent job. I cut my hair weekly, after few months the battery still holding, it cuts thru hair smoothly, and the motor is very quite and strong, it never gets weaker while cutting. Keep in mind I had a Wahl Legend "Corded", and feel no need to go back to it, Kemei 1986 does the job well.
Just to let u know, I bought both clippers silver and gold and sorry to say but they have different blades on them. I would recommend people to buy gold ones, or buy blade replacement for silver ones.
I just bought this clipper today on Amazon for around $25! And not the 2200 mAh battery version either, I bought the original 2500 mAh. That's a hell of a bargain. Got these in the silver and they're my absolute go-to after swapping the blades out. All of the reviews have been fairly consistent. And the fact that they don't cost any near as much as some of the premium brands makes them all the more attractive.

I got the kemei 1987s and the Sokany/Kemei 1997s and have been using them for the past month and I love them, only negative I've found is they both suck at taking out bulk and almost always snag on clients hair, only time they dont is when clients have fine or thin hair then it cuts thru it like butter, I also just ordered the Kemei 1949 retro trimmers and I'm surprised other ppl knew about them, I asked Budd the Barber to do a review on them and hope you do to, also I noticed the 1996/7 have a bit more power to them compared to the 1986/7s, the 86/87s seem to hit much softer imo..

The lever was bugging me so I took lever screws from a Wahl but the threads are more spaced apart so it stripped the nut it screws into. The the lever is now floppy. I got a replacement on the way. But pretty much this is one beautiful surprisingly quiet machine. I have 2 magic clips and honestly it blows it away.

Does a fade blade come on it or a taper blade? Also does it come zero gapped or did you have to adjust it? Really just wanna know if it knock out a hard bottom bald line of if I’d have to invest in another blade
I ended up getting the KM-1986-AMZ on Amazon for $30.99 after a $6 coupon. They seem to be the standard 1986, but come packaged with the cheaper all plastic guards and USB charge cable. I'm not sure if maybe the "AMZ" is a model/package exclusive to Amazon, or what the difference would be. The clipper itself just shows "KM-1986" on the medallion. I haven't used them yet, but they do seem to be a step above the 1986 Pro. The "Pro" version isn't very good for bulk cutting. Hopefully these are a little better. My Babyliss would cut bulk like a hot knife through butter. I know... $31 clippers versus $200 clippers, but... here's to hoping.
Just cut my hair over the weekend with the Kemei 1986 clippers. Unfortunately when I engage the taper lever the clipper has a lot of vibrational noise. Do you know how I can adjust the clippers to remove this noise? Thanks for your vids!

Great review! Did you experience any overheating of the metal base with the 1986? Got the cheaper Kemei 707z and the metal base heats up after a while. My son would cringe when the base would touch his nape/neck so i had to let it cool first before continuing.

David Chacon I never change the blade on them I ended up liking the blade it came with so I have an experienced that yet if that’s a thing my only suggestion would be to oil them up and see if that helps
Cut a small piece of plastic bag and put it on the plastic piece which the blade fits on it. Then put the blade on it, cut the excess plastic bag with scissors, put and the other blade and the screws and its ready

Hello I’ve been following all your videos and taken your advice and brought the 1986 clipper a couple of months ago for fading my hair and I really like it, I was thinking of getting a wahl magic clip blade for it and was wondering which one I should get based on your brilliant experience ? I was looking at the original magic clip blade 2191 and the stager tooth blade 2161. Would one of these be better than the other and do they fit? All clippers will overheat if not in a cool area that’s why we keep the shops cold

David Chacon I never change the blade on them I ended up liking the blade it came with so I have an experienced that yet if that’s a thing my only suggestion would be to oil them up and see if that helps

Cut a small piece of plastic bag and put it on the plastic piece which the blade fits on it. Then put the blade on it, cut the excess plastic bag with scissors, put and the other blade and the screws and its ready
I'm finding them uncomfortable to hold because of their hard edges. Has anyone with these clippers had any success with sanding them down/rounding it off?

Thanks for the review. I just got mine today 👍🏼. Do you have any tips on attachment sizes. I’m looking to cut my kids hair and most videos use a 2mm and other sizes I don’t have. These came with a #6, 4.5, 3 & 1.5mm. You think keeping it open with a 1.5 is will give me 2mm or should I got with the 3 and work my way down? Thanks again

Hello I’ve been following all your videos and taken your advice and brought the 1986 clipper a couple of months ago for fading my hair and I really like it, I was thinking of getting a wahl magic clip blade for it and was wondering which one I should get based on your brilliant experience ? I was looking at the original magic clip blade 2191 and the stager tooth blade 2161. Would one of these be better than the other and do they fit? Yes both blades fit but I really like the blade it comes with so I never changed it
I haven’t got any others clippers to compare it with so il take your solid advice and keep the one it comes with for now. I Didn’t know if the cheap clipper blade could compare to a branded blade, but yes they do cut really well. Keep up the content and good luck with your channel 👍

I always like to know how my tools work so the 1st thin I did was open these up and build quality is surprisingly better the Wahl seniors.
