Remember to change the priority targeting on your mortars; they're powerful when they connect, but being left on the default "Progress" means they target the guy in front and he's usually dead before the shell lands thus leaving them to deal 0 damage a lot of the time. If you had them prioritize slower enemies or more heavily armored enemies, or most health, you'd get better bang for your buck out of them.
It would have also been worth placing the mortar on higher ground to give it more range, plus putting the ice tower in the center square of the castle points would ensure a full 360 hitbox on the loop.

Love seeing an older game come up. You should prioritize putting towers on +3 hills vs clumping them all together.
You can zoom out a bit to see the mortar radius, it is a huge radius! I would set your Mortar to strongest vs the first. Thanks for all the awesome videos! It keeps me going through my work day!
A few tips:
Adjacent towers only give the effect to houses/iron ore/mana cubes if they are at the same elevation.
Only place ballistas on 0 or +1 elevation, leave the +2 and +3 for more powerful towers.
Save corners and island placements for AOE towers.
Don't use the mana towers until you have bought some of the permanent mana upgrades.
Choose the place you expand to in such a way that it will spread out the enemies in the wave, preventing them from clumping up and passing the towers without taking any/much damage.
The banditry cards, while risky, are worth getting especially if you have a lots of mines, which are an absolute life saver.
Hey I am not sure if you noticed but your mortars were missing a bunch of their shots. Generally you will want to change the targeting for them. You usually want them hitting a bunch of enemies in the middle of the pack or focusing down the big targets. A good targeting order is Most Armor first, Most Health second, and Slowest last.
Also manually upgrading towers is a really good idea. Damage works like base (health, armor, or shield) x tower level. A level 20 tower will do at the very least 20 times more damage than a level one tower.
I love Rogue Tower. So much fun, especially when doing the multiple defenses.
Some tips:
The higher a tower is placed, the larger its range.
You can set towers to focus on different things: Most Health, Most Shield, Most Armor, etc
I love this game, got it back in the early days and it just keeps getting better!

Changing priority and upgrading turrets is key. Also you need to have more ice towers in your choke points with the mortars to increase efficiency. I would love to see more because I'm currently not able to play pc games but I love the content!
Thanks a lot for showing me this title, I just love this kind of games. I've played Defense Grid (I and II) to the point of addiction and looks like we have a very good replacement here.
You need to mix up the priorities a lot more. You're wasting a lot of damage by over killing a single target. And you want to combine it with manually upgrading you towers. For example, upgrade a towers damage against armour only, then have it focus most armour. And it will strip away that armour. Then have another turret focus least armour and most health. And upgrade it damage against health. It will then melt the targets after they have had their armour stripped from them. It a good thing to mix in a few "super" towers with all the spam towers by doing this.
On a side note, the tower level up based on what they damage. For example, if they are always damaging armour targets, then they level up their damage against armour. Which is another reason to change priorities on them.
Ohhh and one last thing. You need to utilise the +1/2/3 when placing towers. If I remember correctly (its been a long times since I played it) it increases the range of the tower.
When you place a tower higher up you see +1, +2, +3, etc. That is the increase of BASE power that tower gets on that spot, this calculates into ALL OTHER DAMAGE BUFFS affecting that tower (also increases range). Place tower on the highest spots for free extra damage.

There was a TD game called "Staunch Defence" that doesn't exist anymore (old iphone), and it completely slapped. super complex game design, but very simple graphics.
If you click on each tower, you can change their targeting, so instead of all progress. Set some to target most health, or ammo, or shield too, that way they aren't all aiming at the same enemy
the decision making though :D

Ya you can change the targeting to be near death and least health near base, most armor and most health near half way point and have most shields and most armor and or most health near the closest to expansion. It is possible to have a Ballista only run. But you need a shield only focus, armor only focus and health only focus. To do max damage possible. Shield lower damage to armor and health, armor lowers damage to health. So doing only damage to health is far less effective.
If you up grade manually you can have towers/ ballistas upgraded to do more damage to shields at the Far end of the track away form your base and upgrade to do more armor near the mid point and upgrade to health near base to specialized even more and do more damage then having jack of all trades towers.

Sorry have to comment again. I had been on the fence about this for a while and picked it up after watching this. I am totally hooked played for hours last night. Great game for the steam deck too.
This game as changed a lot since i last saw it
Notice the towers leveling up? By expanding down the path so fast, you are not giving your last defenses the opportunity to level up for the more difficult levels.
At the same time, adding brand-new towers helps in a lot more ways. Yes it lowers the exp the other towers get, but at the same time you're increasing your DPS, leveling up new towers so that you have more towers at higher levels, which decreases the amount of enemies and lowers the left over enemies health.
There are more pro's to adding more towers father down the enemies path vs the con's of adding them.
