      The Toor and CRKT are tactical tools meant for breaching a car or building or splitting a bad guy down the middle. The Spyderco is a bushcraft tool for making a shelter. Not everything is a fireplace tool.

      @HickLif3 Pƙed 2 lety +2

      CRKT has some other axes that are more traditional and look like they would be a better option, like the Birler and the Freyr. The Cimbri is more of a tomahawk than anything but wouldn't be a bad choice for space/weight saving on a hike and just make a quick handle when needed

    The Spyderco Hatchet Hawk. It DOES look like an axe you'd leave in your vehicle "just in-case". So many companies market their product e.g. flashlights for "glass breaking", pens, ...what they fail to tell the naive nerds watching that flashlight video is....what happens after you manage to shatter the driver's side window and you need to get the driver out? and you need to clear away the sharp glass shards still lodgeged in the door frame? A "tactical axe" would be perfect.
    I recall looking a "tactical axes" years ago and a few models even had a serrated edge I think behind the "chopping edge"? Looking for an axe like that. I have an old SOG tactical axe....point on one end resembling a flat head screw driver and the chopping side....handle has a grip that has grooves and ia meetal "ball...squarish" at the base for leverage.

    The problem with these new takes on axes with polymer/g10/crazy profiles is that they don’t help the axe do axe things better. A good piece of steel on a hickory handle is all you need.

    Someone else mentioned pain from reverb on the spiderco it’s not only bad for that reason it is also slippery in EVERY WAY POSSIBLE ! not just a slippery handle that vibrates painfully on a chop but the hammer poll on the back is not flat it is rounded making any pounding of nails or tent stakes downright dangerous ! However it is extremely useful to impress people that have never used any tools at anytime in their life but are still axe snobs
.. for any actual small axe tasks this one is pretty much useless spend your hard earned money on any of the other tools and leave this safe Queen at the store
..
