    Thing is. If you spec up the ST to match the Swift Sport on spec. It's nearer £24k to buy. The Swift Sport comes with everything for £17,500.

      I don't know how people compare the ford st to the swift sport, it's a least 3-4k more expensive and has less things included in the package. It's like comparing my Tag Heuer watch to a Rolex, makes zero sense.

    The Swift is much more reliable than the fiesta, which some buyers will appreciate. The fiesta has been black listed by the highly respected consumer reports magazine of USA for its rotten reliability. I dont know if the fiesta sold in the usa is very different, but suzuki has been in the top 3 of What Car ? Reliability surveys for the past 3 yrs. Ford is way, way down on the list. Also, the upright windscreen in the swift and its lightness makes it more fun than many rivals .

    I’ve just test driven one of these today, as I’m looking to replace my ZC32S this year. There’s no way it was only 140hp 😂 I think Suzuki are telling little white lies and they make a fair bit more. I seem to remember several owners have dynoed their bone stock Sports and they’re closer to 160bhp. In a car that weighs only 975kg, it makes for a potent little hatchback 👍

  • @MrZekToR
    @MrZekToR Před 2 lety +3

    Having owned and driven this turbo Swift Sport for 2.5 years now. Everyone who hasn't driven one considers it to be a warm hatch - until they get dusted by one. I know for a fact that this Swift Sport - in stock tune, is as fast as a Mk8 Fiesta ST down any back road. The Fiesta might be nicer to drive. But that doesn't make the Swift Sport any less capable - even without an LSD. The Fiesta is a good 200+ Kg heavier than the Swift Sport. That's 200+ Kg more inertial weight trying to push you off the road when cornering hard. Do you know what, the Fiesta might be the nicer car to drive. But, in my opinion - there's a lot going for the Swift Sport that puts it above the Fiesta in a lot of ways. The Fiesta is a massive theft target for one. Reliability and durability are much higher than the Ford as well.

  • @davidgeorge9233
    @davidgeorge9233 Před 5 lety +10

    Really interesting. I don’t see it as a rival for the Fiesta, it’s more a warm hatch and has a place in the market for certain buyers looking for something different with decent performance/economy balance. I owned the previous Swift Sport and traded in for a Fiesta ST215 and missed the Swift a lot, the Fiesta was quicker, handled better when pushed but genuinely in the real world the Swift was the better all round car. The Fiesta also gave me chronic back pain which I never forgave it for, those Recaro seats were all style over substance!

    • @BOTBreviews
      @BOTBreviews  Před 5 lety +3

      Great input, thanks David! I agree they’re not on-paper rivals, but as I mentioned at the end, when you look at the numbers on finance they’re very close so the comparison will inevitably be made by the buying public. The Swift certainly has its own very endearing character though! - Tim

      @davidgeorge9233 Před 5 lety +1

      In The Headlights That’s a good point about the finance, and neither of them will hold value particularly well so I guess it comes down to which you prefer overall.

    Dyno in stock shows 155 take consideration that standard equipment !!!! If you go for fiesta you have to pay at least 2000 euros extra for the equipment !! So this gives a difference of around 5000 euros ! And I ask this who buys a car at the base trim ???

      My comparison in price was with the ST-2 which has a good level of spec, through admittedly not as good as the Swift. My thinking is that the looks, performance, sound and handling of the Fiesta makes it worth the little extra even when taking the equipment into account. - Tim

    Don't know why is so big need for 5 doors if everybody drives alone.
