    Next level light and ingenuity with taping the mesh to the fly.
    How many nights have you slept in it and how has it held up?
    I've heard of pinholes developing in the .57 DCF material Zpacks uses. It seems you're using the lighter weight material than that.

    • @vanCapere
      @vanCapere  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, I actually did use the .34 oz material for the fly and it has held up fine so far!
      Been used only for 4 trips though with 6-7 nights in total.

    Thanks gor sharing this. Gonna give it a go next time i'm in the market for a new tent. Question: could fold tape over the edges instead of sewing them?

    • @vanCapere
      @vanCapere  Před 2 lety +1

      Should work but you would still need to find a way of attaching the perimeter netting (e.g. sewing it to a DCF strip and then taping it to the edge).

    Nicht schlecht! macht bock selbst eins zu bauen :)
    Würdest das leichteste DCF empfehlen (nehm an 18g/m²), oder doch lieber 26/m² zwecks Reißfestigkeit in Stürmen, wenn man mal länger unterwegs ist?
    Was hats Material denn ca gekostet?

    • @vanCapere
      @vanCapere  Před 2 lety

      Mit allem drum und dran so 300€, wobei da auch bisschen Zoll & Versand dabei war. 🙊
      18g ist schon ziemlich robust. Das 12g bei meinem ist schon deutlich fragiler und hält trotzdem bisher ziemlich was aus. :)

      I have only 'sold' to friends and family so far, since I sadly don't have much time to sew. :/
      It would also be pretty expensive since DCF itself is really expensive in Germany...

    Is this based on a zpacks design? Did you look at the Tramplite in UK?

    • @vanCapere

      I based it on multiple tent designs. So yes, the pocket tarp did play a huge role in it.

    How much strenght has the dct tape compared to normal sewing? If I do not care about making it the lightest possible it's better to sew everything?

    • @vanCapere
      @vanCapere  Před 8 měsíci

      Well, that depends. In extreme cold tape will fail. However: DCF can rip or elongate along the stitch holes when sewn!
      So if you want to make it as reliable as possible: Sew it and then put dcf tape over the seams! :)

    Hallo Capere, aktuell arbeite ich an einem Nylon Bug Bivy für mein Dyneema Tarp. Dazu wollte ich nach einem Tipp fragen welchen Boden ich benutzten sollte (ohne Tyvek). Braucht man den 75g 10000mm von extex, oder reicht da auch was mit 2000mm Wassersäule? LG
    Ps. Mega geiles Projekt! Ich bin neidisch auf deinen Lasercutter!

    • @vanCapere
      @vanCapere  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey mein lieber, 2000mm wäre mir beim Boden zu wenig. Ich denke so 4000-5000mm sollten es schon sein, damit es da keine Feuchtigkeit durchdrückt. ExTex hat da zumindest auch noch einen mit 65g/m2.

    • @MrRealyzer
      @MrRealyzer Před 3 lety +1

    • @vanCapere

      I use an old school Pfaff 1212. Personally I would look into one with double or triple transport, as it makes sewing elastic materials easier.
      Old domestic machines are perfect, as they are plenty sturdy and mostly not too expensive.
