I use an old school Pfaff 1212. Personally I would look into one with double or triple transport, as it makes sewing elastic materials easier. Old domestic machines are perfect, as they are plenty sturdy and mostly not too expensive.

@@vanCapere thanks very much for mentioning that! After your comment and then seeing pfaff 1200 series mentioned in a Ripstop by the roll podcast by a vintage sewing machine expert that certainly helped pull me out of a rabbit hole. Just found/bought pfaff 1229 in good condition

@@FOXMAN09 it’s called N-Shell. Don’t know if it’s available any more. I’d just go with the 6D WPB from Adventurexpert to be honest.

@@vanCapere I just bought a 1 person Campal tent with a single threaded pole. Haven't used yet but cheap, light and fully waterproof according to youtube reviews.

No, completely solo. There is no guide requirement in the Khumbu region. ;)

I’m 5ft10 but mostly use thin EVA mats like the thin lite or zlite. ;)

You’ll need to really cherry pick your camp ground. Also: If the temperature is supposed to go sub zero I’ll double up on the mat or go for something more substantial.

There are only few accomodations along the way, so it could be rather tricky without a tent (or bivy). Depending on your planing and organization it could still be doable though.

Well, that depends. In extreme cold tape will fail. However: DCF can rip or elongate along the stitch holes when sewn! So if you want to make it as reliable as possible: Sew it and then put dcf tape over the seams! :)

I use an old school Pfaff 1212 with different sewing foots. :) And my patterns are developed with a mix of my laser cutting software and trial and error with prototyping.

It’s MYOG as well. :) A tarp is a nice beginner project! ;)
