Lyrics:
It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone, I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
'Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby, where did I go wrong?
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they'd only remind me of you
I went to the doctor, guess what he told me
Guess what he told me
He said, "Girl you better try to have fun, no matter what you do"
But he's a fool
'Cause nothing compares,
nothing compares to you
All the flowers that you planted mama
In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

My mom had me at 15 in 1985. I remember in the late 80s my mom and aunt doing their makeup and hair getting ready for something and just laughing and singing along to this song. It’s probably one of my oldest memories. I couldn’t have been more than 4 or 5 years old. Rip mom Christine Angela Manica 9/22/69-10/11/22 I love and miss you every day ❤
😮😮God, so early she's gone away😢
@@nss4472 yes she certainly was. The somewhat of a silver lining tho is, she passed away in her sleep in her own bed. It wasn’t a painful long thing fortunately. We were very close because I was her oldest kid, and with her having me so young, we went through a lot of struggle together. I didn’t always have the best things growing up, but I sure had a lot of love.
I saw her in concert with my wife , about 35 years ago. We were both big fans. My wife passed away about 10 years ago. RIP Sinead and RIP my wife.

The fact that she remains the only artist to refuse a Grammy award til date is honestly empowering. She stated that music was supposed to help people and not to draw attention to the artist. Prince wrote this song and performed it before he gave it to Sinead O"Connor. He was a genius. After she finished her version, Prince said " I knew this was yours". He never performed it live after that. Sinead had such a beautiful and powerful voice. Her story is tragic, she is the modern day Joan of Arc. She stood up for something, I wish i had her courage. NOT entirely true, Tommy. Prince wrote this in 1984-85 for one of his side projects, The Family. Sinead's far more superior version wasn't released til 1990.

I would have to agree. Although I heard this song and thought it was peaceful and soothing when it was new, I was busy in college back then. I never really knew who she was as a person. All I ever saw was the craziness that was portrayed in the mainstream news. And although I probably still disagree with a lot of her views as well, I recently watched some old interviews since she has passed. Meh, shredding a likeness of Mohammed on stage during a live national broadcast - that would have been brave ... the leader of a religion whose tenets include:
'Love thy enemies', 'Forgive others' and

lol she said Ireland was better off under British rule, and that the ROI should be disbanded. She was a good singer but she was nuts and most of her opinions were insane. I mean she called out the Catholic church and organized religion, but then converted to Islam, I mean wtf.
🙏🏾
@@cyborgdurden5720 Context is everything and her comments were in relation to a choice of being colonised by Britain or effectively being colonised by the Catholic Church.
If someone asks you if you would prefer a dead arm or a kick in the balls, choosing a dead arm does not by default mean you think that is a good thing and only the least worst option.
All religion is nonsense anyway, so I am with you on not understanding why she chose to convert to Islam, but totally understand why she left the Catholic Church,
And I say that as an atheist with a mind of my own, despite being christened as a Catholic via the choice of my parents.

Prince wrote this song.
I think everyone is simply reminded of when Sinead & Prince fought.
Sinead O’Connor & Prince - The Fight They Had In Los Angeles
This is from Far Out Magazine in 2021.
While most young and impressionable singers would likely do anything to impress Prince, O’Connor has always been an outlier, and her fiery Irish nature stops her from being submissive. “We tried to beat each other up,” O’Connor told Good Morning Britain in 2019. “This is not a joke, it was a really frightening experience. It was in LA, he summoned me to his house and foolishly I went along. He was uncomfortable that I wasn’t his protégé and he wanted me to be. He was wanting me to be a protégé of his and ordered that I don’t swear in my interviews. I told him where he could go”.
According to O’Connor, the mood changed after this comment, and then the situation descended into violence: “He went upstairs and got a pillow and he had something hard in the pillow. I ran out of his house, hiding behind a tree,” she claimed. “We meet on the highway in Malibu at five in the morning - I’m spitting at him, he’s trying to punch me. I had to go ring someone’s doorbell, which my father always told me to do if I was in a situation like that”.

Thank you, for the music, the power, the fight for justice, the controversy and for being yourself in a world and industry that didn't want you to be. Love always, rest in power Sinead.
Rest in peace🥲
Très très belle chanson et très belle chanteuse
This song was written and gave to her from the one and only Prince.
Yeah but she executed it in a way nobody else could have. Rip Sinead
immensa stima per una donna che è sempre stata se stessa, andando contro chiunque gli si mettesse davanti, coraggiosa, coerenza allo stato puro! r.i.p. Sinead ❤️
This is a classic song from an Irish singer that will be sorely missed.Sinead O’Conner nailed it from the beginning until the end.Rock on forever Sinead!!!…Karl Schumaker 😢
Yes, was a hit🎵😎👍
The song is from Prince. Anyway the performance is great.
@@TheRickblaineshe has other great songs. Not just this one.
When Prince wrote this song for Sinead, she released it and it became a big hit. After this,Prince invited Sinead to his Hollywood apartment and abused her.Sinead had already got enough abuse from both of her parents. She didn’t need any more abuse from anyone else;especially Prince!!!…Karl Schumaker 🍀
Prince didn't write this song for her. He wrote it and recorded it with a group known as The Family in 1985. Sinéad later covered it for her sophomore album. Sinéad's version was spectacular. She sang it so beautifully. I think most people will remember Sinéad's version better. She really made it her own with her magic and voice. May she RIP 🙏❤️
One of the greatest songs ever recorded. Nobody could've sung it better. RIP Sinead.
what a woice, and Prince was solution to make the wokals, genius
RIP my love... seriously loved this lady when I was young
RIP to this wonderful woman who was and still is and will forever be my inspiration 🙏☮️
Rest in peace Sinead. I'm so sorry this world defeated you. You will always be remembered. Beautiful voice, beautiful woman...
I think she found peace towards the end of her life. We all go sooner or later she was a wonderful human.
With all respect, I don't believe she was defeated. Her soul and convictions were too strong for that. The world wasn't ready for the likes of her. May she progress in peace.
@@tlaloc210I agree with you. She defeated the world with her truth, and the world/media tried to shut her up. I believe if her son never died, she would still be with us💜
She was never defeated, she fought and never compromised.
Hard hard hard line to tow, to speak up against evil. She refused to be silenced for that she payed…but the cost of not speaking up is death.
She did as Christ did…I pray she at one time believed that God is a good God, a God that so loved the world that he gave his only son to die on the cross for all our sins and to DEFEAT evil.
May she be with the angels now…for she was a saint for the ‘least of these’.
God be with her family may they know His comfort as they mourn. 🙏👆🏼♥️
My, oh my... What a beautiful voice. And those eyes... She sure made her mark in this world. I will always remember you, Sinead. You rest in peace now, beautiful soul.
Simply, georgius. Rip fine lady 😢.

My favorite song ever. Definitively Sinéad's voice makes this song unique. The same with the cover she made of "sacrifice." It's much better than the original.
Yes. Sinead's version of Sacrifice is amazing. Also her version of The Streets of London is better than the original. Best singer ever. Sinead puts her heart and soul into every song she sings and makes it her own. Heartbroken she has gone.
@@PeterYates-kb4hp So am I. But her music lives and her soul lives in it.
All the flowers that you planted 😢and now I understand because I feel exactly that pain in this song 😔🕯️
🥺💐🌷
A woman that so many could relate to, but that no one would ever fully understand. Already a tortured soul, the loss of her son was insurmountable. Rest in Eternal Peace Sinead
What an absolutely heart-warming, empathetic, beautiful comment.
Bless you!
But why is her family being so cagey with the actual cause of her death? Natural causes? She was only 56, In today's world, that's not really natural.
Love you Snead❤❤❤❤
I lost my only son too ...
