I watched the 2017 eclipse sitting in my driveway. The clouds cleared just in time for us to see it.
Aww... But if you got to glimpse the totality of the sun for any time at all, I say it's a win! We were there and got very lucky, saw all 4 minutes of it mostly clearly right by a lake.

If you've ever actually been in the path of totality before, it's an otherworldly experience. The Eclipse is more than just the sun going dark for a minute or two. Everything in nature reacts to it. The birds go quiet, the wind shifts, nocturnal insects start to crawl out. And all of it is happening without any human involvement it's a very indescribable sense of smallness and awe that can't be conveyed in any summary or depiction.
We were in the path of totality in 2017. We went to a hill on the outskirts of Salem Oregon in a farm area by a field. Along the country road we met people all the way from Germany. A relative came out from the east coast. There weren't many of us. We watched in awe on that August day.

I never heard her complain but then the volume was always so high maybe I couldn't lol. very sweet loving memories... such a shame you have to grow up and tapes wear out :(
