We had a milk cow when I was a kid and to entertain my little sister and I, my mother would put a couple cups of cream in a mason jar and let it shake it until the butter began to appear. I always thought it was like magic. And the sweet smell oh my gosh I can still remember that after almost 60 years. Our cow was named, “Jerseybelle“.
So lovely Mary. Thanks for sharing that story.
When and how much salt to add
Bless you.
I'm in the UK so my mum used to give us full cream milk to shake in ajar to get butter my mum's way of keeping us out of trouble guess wish we had the cows as well but wasn't an option for us I did want a jersey cow but Santa never gave that present obviously I wasn't good enough
1/2 gallon heavy cream netted me a quart of buttermilk and about a quart of butter. I divided mine into two and made garlic and regular. Super delicious! 👌
To be labeled heavy cream, do certain milk fat standards have to be met? I looked on the cartons of all available products and no percentage of milkfat was listed!! I am so eager to try this, but don't want to waste the money or time!!
@@kggrass5644 use ur brain lil bro if every 100 grams it has 35 grams of fat then its 35% fat
Finally someone who washes the butter the right way! Thank you 🙏🏻
You can use paper plate to keep mixer from getting wet... turn upside down punch 2 holes where mixer legs attach to mixer. Put plate upside-down on mixer then legs..
Thank you for the info
OOOOOOO
SMART
Thank you for that tip, very smart lady.😊😊😊
Try it in a blender, and cheesecloth to squeeze out the butter milk. Works well, of course if you don’t have a blender the mixer is a good idea 👍
How much salt? For every half cup (1 stick or ¼ lb) of butter, you can add ¼ teaspoon of Kosher salt. Another way to say this is for every 2 cups of cream, after churning into butter add ¼ teaspoon of Kosher salt for lightly salted butter and ½ for a saltier result. Hope this helps. Love the video.
thank you
Budda
When do you add salt?
Thanks... when do you add it?
@@maryannsheehan8472 add salt after washing so you don't wash the salt out
💕 this.. her technique is everything!!!
UGH!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!!!! A lot of the videos include really expensive equipment and I didn't know I could use my mixer. I SURE will be making butter today thanks to you! SUBBING!!!!!
Hands and everything used are immaculate clean! Great job!
Thanks 😊
Great job on the video! No nonsense, but good details!
Great idea about covering the bowl
I think I like your method the best.
I can't wait to try it.
Thanks! ❤
I concur
Wow!!! I've definitely learnt something great. Thanks for this recipe...
You're appreciated. I must try this out
LEARNED not Learnt
I just used a mason jar and invert til it become separated. Then rinse with cold water .. or not. I like it creamy. I salted to taste about half way taking form. Shake til it takes form then put it in a container. Yummy!!😊 I inherited a case of heavy cream.. so I’m making butter to put in the freezer..
Don’t make too much though it get spoilt easily .
Best thing I ever did was to make my own butter, it's simple to make and I use the butter for my homemade biscuits
I make salted and unsalted butter
I don’t have a food processor myself but that’s what stopped me from making homemade butter and that was a great idea by you putting the saran wrap on top!!! Who would’ve thought??? Thank you now I will attempt to make it?!?! 🌈☝️✝️☝️🌈
You are welcome 😊
You don’t need a food processor. You can use blenders of all sorts…even hand shaking a mason jar filled with cream.
@@owl4 Thank you I will try that next!!! 🌈✝️🌈
@@owl4 don't recommend the hand shaking method it will kill your wrist.
This is my favourite butter video and the music is class
Wow amazing...! Your skill is so outstanding. Thank you for sharing 👍💖
You are very welcome , thanks for watching 😊
Wowwwee!!! Thank you! I just made it!!
I had a jar and had my grandchildren make the butter for our Thanksgiving one year. They took turns shaking the jar…got so excited when they saw the butter forming in kernels floating in the whey……then they formed the butter into a pumpkin and refrigerated it. So much fun…then all we heard was how good the butter was….it is you know…way better than store bought. I have cheese cloth I keep just for making butter and cottage cheese.
Can you leave it on the counter top sealed to keep it soft?
Loving it ….. thanks will certainly make it. 😋 salt …how much.
I had a splash guard on my mixer ,and I still had to put a towel over it, thanks for sharing, I definitely will use plastic wrap next time
Excellent will try ♥️🏴 England
Beating slower will take a little longer but it will reduce the splashing, no need for plastic wrap.
best butter video ever very illustrated
Thanks 😊
Perfect video. Thank you!
BravO!!!!! I will try
Quick and easy. I just made mine. It is definitely a messy process. My clingwrap came off and got stuck in my mixer because I was using a plastic bowl. 😃 Produced about one stick which I placed in my butter tray and about 3/4 cup of buttermilk. Tasty😋 Thx.
so was it easy or messy?
I’d say both, easy and a bit messy but definitely cheaper than buying butter in today’s economy.
@@pambeck324 I'm not sure it's cheaper as long as butter is under $4/lb and a quart of heavy cream is over $5 which makes 3/4 to 1 lb of butter, it's not cheaper. I try to stock up when I can find it for $3/lb or less. I was hoping I could find an alternative way of producing butter without breaking the bank.
@@dmittie9761 between buttermilk and butter you get out of cream, it ends up cheaper, I hope this helps
@@sumofme1 Thank you for the info. I would have to experiment with this a bit to plan how I would use both the buttermilk and butter within a 24 hr. period or freeze what I don't use. Thank you again :-)
Best video tutorial! And not a lot of ttttalkkk.🙂
Amazing
Looks delicious! Thanks for sharing, friend! Let's stay connected.
Thanks for the watching 🙏
Great… Can you please tell me how to add salt to butter. Like when your butter is ready, how to add salt in it then?!
Very nice
Absolutely stunning👌🏿 I have two questions to ask.
1. I have a powerful handheld blender(Bamix) and an industrial strength blender(Vitamix) would you advice that I use either to make this butter??
2. How do I make my butter salted,do I add salt??
Your response will be greatly appreciated 😉 I’ve just subscribed as well😉✌🏿🇿🇦
I will suggest you use the handheld blender( if it is hand mixer you mean) can’t guaranty the vita mix , and to add salt , add as soon as the fat has separated and rinsed clean completely, I wrote it in the video but there was a typo , please check description, only make the quantity you need as the shelf life is 24-48 hours even in the fridge as it doesn’t contain preservatives , it’s Fresh butter.
@@foodzizzles Thank you kindly for your prompt response👍🏿
I need to be certain if this is a handheld blender or mixer(though I’m leaning more towards blender but it wouldn’t hurt to learn I guess).
Secondly, is there a secret to making it last longer than 48HRS or that would need additives?
I’d appreciate your response again.
Regards.
The one I used in the video is handheld mixer
@@foodzizzles okay cool.
Thank you once again for your help🙌🏿😉
@@foodzizzles, would freezing the butter extend the freshness, and prevent spoilage?
A MAXING 👍 THANKS
Wonderful, thank you for your recipe!!!
You are welcome
Can u make cakes
Wow very nice👍. But kya es me salt dala nhi aap ne butter mein salt hota hai.
Thank you for the video! One thing i didn't understand was how much salt and exactly when and how to add it?
You add the salt after you rinsed the butter. How much is up to you. Try with little first. If it isnt enough you add more. Keep it simple :)
Can you use whipping cream powder to make butter
awesome love this tutorial!!
Thank you 😊
@@foodzizzles when do I add my sea salt or olive oil. Thank you so much for your video's
Nice
Good
Where'd you get that nice butter dish at the end please and thanks!
Thank you.
I like this video but it doesn't say when or how much salt to add .. can anyone tell me ?
AMAZING BUTTER HOMEMADE ❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME BEAUTIFUL ✨,
Thank you
Wowo nice
Thanks
I WOULD GET MY KIDS TO MAKE BUTTER !! PUT CREAM IN A VERY CLEAN JAR OR BOTTLE AND SHAKE [[for ever] till it thickens into BUTTER
Lol 😆
How do you add salt?
Thank you
I didn’t see you put the salt in sorry when was that x
Does regular heavy whipping cream work? Idk how to find it in that fat content?
How to add salt to the butter mixture. It's super easy with whipping cream
I saw another video where a lady mixed hers in a Ninja food processer. I looked like an easier process than using a hand mixer.
❤️
where is the salt
so how do you make it salted butter??
Is that like buttermilk in the store?
What type of milk is used, fullcream or evaporated milk. Thanks
Full cream milk .
Hi thank you for the videobut I didn't understand how and when do you add the salt?
After the rinse
how many gram of whipped cream makes 'x' gram of butter?
When do you add the salt.
Sorry but where was the salted butter?!
Can I use turning stick to turn it
So you add the salt after the butter is made but how do you do that? Is there a method?
❤❤❤❤🤝
so what is the yield of butter from 1 L of Heavy Cream?
How long is the butter good for?
"Add butter now for salted butter" What does that mean??? GEESH! I would like to make salted butter.
Add salt after you squeeze all of the water / butter milk from the butter . Mix it in with your hand as you knead and form your butter.
what kind of milk you use thanks
You can only use it for 24 hours?
Add butter now for salted butter ? What do you mean ?
At what point do you add salt to the butter ? And how much salt ? And what type of salt ?
It was a mistake , add salt now for salted butter
@@foodzizzles how much salt?
How much salt do you add? Is that 1pound of butter
When do you put in the salt??
Is it whip cream ? Or dairy cream?
Can you please send the link for buying whipping cream and how does it turn yellow
Don’t have the link sorry
the whipping cream turns yellow when it thickens and separates from the buttermilk, I accidentally made butter when I was a teen, whipping cream for my mother's dessert. we had to go to store and by more whipping cream.
Couldn't you use a mason jar for shaking, after the first step of mixing instead of the seran wrap
Yes. You could actually use a mason jar the whole way.
At what stage can you and salt
How much butter do you yield from a liter of heavy cream ?
I think someone said a stick. So that’s not much from a Lt of cream ,
I thought you would show us how to make salted butter as well as unsalted
Whole milk, heavy cream whatever u have around the house LoL 😆
Is this really cost effective? Other than for interest, is there a health or financial reason?
At my local grocery store, a quart of heavy cream is $5.50. A pound of butter and a pint of buttermilk, which is about what you’d get with the quart of cream, costs between $8 and $8.50, more, if you go for the pricey brand of butter.
Depends on the butter. I buy the imperial tub and it's about $3 dollar. The ingredients to make butter varies from store to store.
@@bellaswan1459 Imperial isn't Butter!!!
Hi, may I ask a question? How much does the butter weigh?
Sorry I do not know that
I guess that would be , how ever much you make.
When exactly do you add salt or herb mixture if you don't want plain butter? I didn't see you add it in the video.
How long did you have to use the hand blender?
Until u see lumps 🤔
How do I make it slated ?
Why do you wash butter in cold water until it’s clean? Can’t you just chill butter in sticks in refrigerator in wax paper or parchment pieces?
To rinse the butter milk off of the butter, or else it becomes rancid quickly. Then, when the water is clear, shape it and wrap with parchment paper or store in the freezer or fridge as you wish .
Heyy. Can i use this to bake?
Yes you can
Please read description for shelve life
I tried walmart heavy whipping cream and it would not separate. It turned into moist pudding like consistency. Hope I can find some other whipping cream with proper fat content.
40% fat required
Can I use powder whipped cream for this recipe
No....
At what point do you add salt and how much do you add? You never said anything about it in the video.
Sorry you can mix salt at 4:29 in the video , sorry about that , I mentioned it just that there was a typo and most people don’t seem to know that’s what I mean, I corrected that in the description though .
@@foodzizzles it still doesn't explain how much salt
@@spikedpuppet3667 I guess that part is down to personal taste.
@@foodzizzles I hate it when videos don't say how much ingredients! 😒
Which whipping cream is it!??
Can’t remember the brand anymore , any whipping cream works , whipping cream is a type of milk that has a high fat content and after a lot of whisking the fat separates from the milk and that forms butter.
What is the use of the water
When would you put the salt in it if you wanted salted?
I put 1/2 teaspoon of fine salt to 1 cup of heavy cream prior to mixing.
Can this be frozen to preserve it longer??
I’ll suggest you make the one you need
@@foodzizzles I don't understand. Yes or no
@@beunka2 yes you can freeze it
How does walnuts look like
A taller bowl is the answer
To minimize the splashing mess, why not stop mixing and drain the buttermilk sooner?
You might lose some of what would turn into butter since it’s not fully separated
Can I use this butter for croissant?
Yes 😋
