How Can Mary or Saints Hear Prayers If They Aren't Omniscient or Omnipresent?

- Former protestant apologist Sam Shamoun defends the ancient Christian faith (the Catholic doctrine of the intercession of saints).

As a lifelong Protestant, I'm legitimately trying to understand this stuff and even after watching this, I'm still not sold. For me, all Sam established is that there's some biblical basis for the saints knowing what's up on Earth. Okay, cool. I don't really have a problem with that part. But how do we go from that to directing prayer to them? Or focusing on Mary as some sort of extraordinary figure in Heaven? I just don't see any of that in the text and I'm really trying to wrap my head around how it isn't idolatrous. Anything else of actual importance is laid out quite clearly in the Scriptures, quite often in a lot of detail, but these specifically Catholic doctrines just aren't, as far as I can tell.
1000 times agree with you. My arguement exactly!!
It is idolatry. Revelations 5 was POORLY misused. This doesn't help his argument. Is there ONE Biblical example of ANYONE praying to Mary. We already know that she was not ever Virgin, as she had other children.
Look up the wordprophet this here is complete nonsense and won’t save anyone
Because there is a difference between prayer and worship. It is wrong to worship Mary or any of the angels, it is permitted to pray. Prayer is not worship. Mary is obviously closer to God, as are the angels and saints. These entities have different jobs and access to the Father. Take into account the fact that Jesus has difference from his Father “Father they do not know”. Jesus said here he has more mercy in some ways than the Father revealing us his purpose and connection to the Father and Holy Spirit. I say this to say that the angels are commanded to fill certain needs for his children. That we know in scripture. So by praying to saints, while worshipping the Father it becomes more effective under certain circumstances. Does that make sense?
@@berkelianatorlemme rephrase the question since I'm also not confident with following the ways of catholic.
Beings in Heaven, angels and people, know events that happen on earth according to scripture, cool, gotcha.
So WHERE in scripture has there ever been a figure who asked for intercession to the saints IN HEAVEN and the Holy Spirit, God or Jesus (either of one is fine) did He approve of it by granting the request?
Or better yet which verses imply that it is okay to ask for intercessions NOT ONLY from those on earth but those in the Heavenly realms?
That's our question, that's what we're trying to understand.
I'm good the veil was torn , and now I have been given the gift of the holy spirit ...Others can do what they want no contention I'll personally take my petitions straight to the source.
@@mrscream2028 He prays for me, not to me, and thats a huge difference. He is alive, and I can talk with him directly, whilst Mary is long dead on earth, and is only a human, not capable of hearing me nor anyone else. It's very clear speaking to dead isn't permitted and is seen as awful in eyes of God.
Deuteronomy 18:10-13
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who *calls up the dead. *
12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.
13 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God.
@@ugandan216 You missed my point, which was that if you take your petitions straight to the source like OP said, you don’t need other people to pray for you. Also you might be confusing prayer with worship.
When people pray to Mary they are asking for her prayers. Mary is alive with God, as Christian we believe and know she is alive not dead, that’s a huge difference. If you watch the video you will see that here is a biblical basis for people in heaven being able to know what is happening on earth.
You’re wrong about the Bible verse also. The whole passage is making reference to paganism and magic and “Calls up the dead” is referring to necromancy which is when pagans try to literally resurrect dead people. Thats worlds apart from what people do when they pray to Mary. To suggest otherwise would be to bear false witness against your neighbour.
Please stop making such slanderous accusations against Christians.
@@mrscream2028 I'm not wrong about the verse, and what Saul did in Book of Samuel 28 proves my point. Or are you trying to tell me speaking to dead people is allowed? She may be alive with God, but she is dead on earth! She, by her own words, needed a saviour herself! She cannot listen to prayers! Prayer is a type of worship, communication between you and God, not anyone else!
@@ugandan216 if you think that people who pray to Mary for her prayers are doing what we see in the book of Samuel and Deuteronomy then I don’t know what to say to you besides that when people tell you that they are not performing pagan magic and you keep insisting that they are, you are now bearing false witness against your neighbour.

@@stravinskyfancatholism is false and you can’t invoke Mary. They are talking about another Mary and Jesus.
the issue i have with asking the saints to pray for me is the fact that the bible says in 1 thessalonians 4:13-18 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
from what i understand this scripture is saying that everyone who has lived and now died are asleep and wont be awaken until God comes back for us. So how can we ask the saints to pray for us if they, like everyone else who has passed on are asleep? you can’t pray to someone who is sleeping
Saints are not dead.
They are alive in heaven given eternal life by God.
The concept here is that YHWH himself says he will not share worship with anyone else. Therefore Jesus and the apostles, including Mary, are below YHWH. The only way to the Father is Jesus; not the apostles or Mary, even if they worshipped in mass. We can pray for others, but where in Jesus’s prayer, did he mention praying to Mary or the Saints? Catholics have specific prayers for intercession and call her the Queen of Heaven, the same as old pagans used the same name.
Remember, Jesus prayed to god. He didn’t pray to other past ones who were taken up to pray for him.

I also asked the Holy Spirit to open my eyes and heart to all truth in my prayers, and ever since then, I have been exposed to a growing amount of information concerning the saints and the Blessed Virgin Mary. I will show you in Old testament where God listens to prayers of Prophets and Holy people. Read Genesis chapter 20, especially verse 7 where God tells Abhimelech that Abraham will pray for you and you will live. Why did God not tell him you pray and will live? Because God hears prays of Prophets, saints and Holy persons. And Mary is Holy as we all know. Intercession is what we need because we are sinners.

What we ask of the saints is to pray before the Lord (Jesus) for us. In the same way we ask our brothers and sisters here on earth to pray for us to the Lord our God. We are not bypassing Christ, this is a protestant misconception of how we ask for intercessory prayer. Mary or the saints are not the ones granting anything, they are asking God (the trinity) to hear our prayers.
@@blueboyblue7738 There is no guessing. This is what the church believed for 1500 years before Martin Luther corrupted teaching and removed books from the bible under his own "authority". This is the danger of protestantism, they all believe to know more than the Church fathers and the Church.
Prayer any prayer that goes through an intermediate brings honor to the intermediate and if people haven't read scripture well, our God is a Jealous God.
So if the saints only hear prayers through what is revealed to them by the holy spirit, am I understanding correctly that the holy spirit hears the prayers first, then passes them along to the saints to then pray even more on behalf of those of us on earth, so that God may then hear the prayers?
I understood it as the Holy Spirit allows them to hear, not that that the Holy Spirit hears them first. Just as the Holy Spirit allowed the Apostles to be heard in different languages. Interesting points, although the verses cited seem to show that the prayers in these instances are being delivered or presented to God, there is no evidence that the prayers are being heard, understood or interceded on by the messengers, simply delivered. In the later citations, it appears that it is God's will to share certain information to those present to which they otherwise did not have access.
The very common fact that prayers are thoughts which are usually put in words, for the celestial being to be in their possession insinuate that they have already heard those words which they are presenting to the Lord Almighty.

You mean God tells the saints in heaven to pray for people on earth because only He hears the prayers from people on earth and reveals them to the saints in heaven. And only God reveals things going on in heaven to men on earth.
@@tatie7604 We can see that only a few individuals immediately ascended to heaven, granted; but the major issue is that the bible describes the dead as inactive both in the old and the new testament, as "knowing nothing", and even describing them to having no emotion.
Lets not forget that necromancy, the attempt to communicate with the dead, is forbidden in God's law, specifically found in Deuteronomy, and is punishable by death. The hebrew had a simple understanding that a spirit was a demon. Demons can manifest and shapeshift to anything they want (including dead relatives), to achieve deception. Witchcraft, divination, necromancy, conjuration, all against the law of God. So my question would be, on what rational basis do you have, to assume that God would encourage His people to contradict and transgress(sin) against His law and character? We need to be careful when we assume or even claim that God encourages sin, or even attempts to break His own laws.
@TheRussianPootis I assume nothing. In my comment, I sought to explain Sam's take on praying to the saints. I concluded that our prayers should be directed to the triune God but did not mention that the prayers should be in Jesus's name. Granted, my comment was neither clear nor was it thorough. How do you explain the points that Sam made directly referencing the Bible? Why do other saints hold the prayers of saints before God in Revelation? Are we ASSUMING that these prayers are the prayers of the soul's of the saints who are already in heaven? In any case, these saints are not without conscious thought. Explain, please. Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun.
A description that entails the detail that: the dead do not know anything. They have no love, or emotions. That doesn't mean the soul is dead however, if indeed when we do die in the first death, then our soul and spirit of life returns to Christ until He returns us to our new bodies when we resurrect.
John 3:13

Neither the soul is destroyed on the first death as well, but rather, as the Bible has said, they are asleep, knowing nothing. Dormant, in the ground. Is King David in heaven with God right now, conscious and aware? Let's find out what the Bible says:
Acts 13:36
36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
Another description of inactivity within the soul(sleep), but never an active description activity of the soul there on after.
You say Revelations says saints have prayers of other saints, but now knowing that the Bible has made it clear, that the dead are asleep, let's put revelation 1:1 in context, as it details how each prophetic vision is, in nature:
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
He SIGNIFIED the message. Now that we know that there are souls asleep in the name of Christ, this must mean that many saints have died in service of Christ, if indeed signification is synonymous with signs, then this is a sign of a future outcome of some form of religious persecution. Tell me, did some of the apostles have natural deaths or did some die protecting the faith? And because this is a message, a sign, then it is an analogy. Meaning it isn't literal. It's a conveying message of the future. It's also something John could understand in the present, seeing as he knew of the concepts of persecution. But none of this is a mystery if you look at the way it's been phrased. Nowhere does the reader in revelations, give set instructions within the Bible to take it literal. Quite the opposite. Revelations tell us these are signs.
Now how does God feel about attempting to talk to the dead?
Deuteronomy 18:10-13

@@mjramirez6008so when it says in 1 Timothy 2:5: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus," that means there could be more than one God since the verse doesn't say "only one" God?

"Jesus Christ is true God and true man, in the unity of his divine person; for this reason he is the one and only mediator between God and men" (CCC, 480).
The verse is talking about Christ mediating salvation (i.e New Covenant), it isn't talking about intercession within the Body of Christ. In verses 1-4, St. Paul encourages us to make "intercessions."
JESUS IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND LIFE .. AND NO OTHER NAME .. ONLY JESUS.. AMEN..
Though your point is true, it is unrelated to the topic of this video. This video is about the ability of heavenly inhabitants being aware of what is happening on earth.
@@ericgatera7149 Brother, the idea of proving that heavenly inhabitants are aware of what is happening here on earth by no means justify the idea that the Catholic “saints” have been assign by God the role of intercessors for any of us here on earth before our Abba Father.
In your mentioning of the account of the rich man and Lazarus, where Abraham knew about Moses, however, Abraham himself told the rich guy that there is nothing that he can for him or for his family members. God’s calling or role for each of us, has a specific purpose. If we heed that calling at the time that God appoints us to, He will equip us with the necessary tools because it is all to advance God’s kingdom. Abraham was not call to do Moses’s task, nor Moses was called to do King David’s one. Mary was highly favored to fulfill the role of providing her womb to allow the only baby that was born with the purpose of dying to provide that way for us to be reconciled with God. She did well, but she couldn’t do the perfect finished redemptive work of the Lord Jesus. Then Jesus, after showing himself to many after His resurrection, comforted His disciples in John 14:6-7 saying “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Then Jesus continues in verses 13-14 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Now, since Jesus is going to The Father and sit at His right hand, not because He is the Son of God, that He always is, but because He is now our High Priest who advocates for His people. A prophet represents God and bring God’s message to the people, but a priest, represents the people before God and advocate on their behalf. The Bible teaches us with the story of Moses who is the prophet and Aaron is the high priest who perform all the sacrifices and present them for the people before God to ask for atonement and get them covered for 1 year. In Hebrews 5, we find that Jesus is a superior High Priest, a priest that never dies not like the priesthood of Aaron, but under the priesthood after the order of Melchizedek.
Jesus promised in verses 14-17 the following “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever the Spirit of truth.
The word “advocate” that describes the Holy Spirit in the original Greek is parakletos which means summoned, called to one's side, especially called to one's aid. One who pleads another' s cause before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant, an advocate.
Coming back to all the saints in Heaven, although they might know by revelation of God about situations here on earth, they already know God’s faithfulness, His immense love for all of us and His power to even destroy the last enemy which is death for us, the saints do not need to come and ask God for anyone and anything. For us down here, we go by faith because without it, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is the essence by which every Christian on earth is connected to God's blessings. It is the faith deposited in the person of Jesus Christ, the beloved of the Father. And to pray directed to God with strong confidence that He hears us and God who cannot lie said to us in Romans 8:32 - He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? AMEN.
Being aware did not mean it's okay to be prayed to. Notice, when the saints are interacting with God they are doing so in their own volition. Nowhere in the Bible does it excuse praying to them.
Didn't David himself stop praying for his child after the baby passed away?
Simply put, Sam is wrong on this one.

Sorry Sam but I totally disagree with you on praying to souls in heaven.
I have been a follower of Jesus Christ for decades now.
When I heard the message of truth that Jesus Christ died for my sins, I believed in this Gospel of salvation and surrendered my life to Christ.
I have sincerely confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in my heart that God raised him from death.
Since I believe in this truth, I am sure that I am marked with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit because Scripture promises it. Eph 1:13.
I have surrendered my life to serve him and to do his good will which God has prepared in advance for me to do, by the help of the Holy Spirit.
I always pray directly to God in the Name of Jesus.
I have never given up meeting together with the followers of Jesus Christ to encourage each other.
But I have never been to a Catholic church and I have never prayed to any saints. So the question is will I loose my salvation just because I have never been to Catholic church?
Will my prayers be never heard because I have never prayed to saints?

I've recently found Sam and found that I love his ability to reason, particularly with regard to matters of Islam vs Christianity, but while doing so I found that even when I agreed with his points, there were many times when his logic was not as sound as he thought it was. Despite this, he was overconfident and unnecessarily offensive to others as if he was somehow better than them in that he could not also make mistakes in logic.
In the first 5 minutes here I cannot believe the logical gymnastics he performed to rationalize praying to saints. He inserts a doctrine into a scripture in Revelations - a humongous leap - which simply is inconsistent with the text and common sense.
Revelations came in the form of a vision. Like dreams, visions are a state in which all sort of impossible thing becomes possible. When he says he heard all creatures in heaven and under heaven, the text is in no way implying that God gave him a supernatural revelation which allowed him to understand all animals and people in heaven and below - he was simply saying that he perceived this in a vision, just like right now you and I can conjure an image of creatures in heaven and on earth singing to God in every tongue. It doesn't mean he literally heard and understood every creature and language. To say that God revealed this to him isn't to say that God gave him the power to hear every instance of praise from each of those creatures, it simply means God revealed to him that this is what was taking place.
To take this and say "why can't God do this" is not the same as to say as to say "look, God clearly says or implies this". One is falsifiable and the other isn't.
Again, with the Martyrs in heaven. GOD revealed to them that there was a plan to avenge their blood after a fullness of the saints on earth which are destined to be martyred are slain - This is all that can be inferred from here. NOT that martyrs in heaven hear the prayers of living people on earth, and not that God allows them to intercede for the people living on earth. Again, the fall of Babylon he says himself was revealed to the host of heaven by God, not by prayers of living people.
Again, the bowls with the prayers of the saints. The bible doesn't say why or how they have them. We must assume nothing that isn't stated there clearly. Were the prayers collected by the saints and presented to God, or did God HEAR/COLLECT THEIR PRAYERS - which IS CONSISTENT with scripture and is often referred to as incense pleasing to The Lord along with worship and sacrifice - and then command that the angels and the saints in heaven present these bowls of prayer and pour them out. It is even more likely that these bows are simply symbolic of prayers and not actual prayers.
The example of the Angels interceding for the children is another leap in logic. He's reading into scripture what he wants, which he criticizes other for mercilessly.
Hosts in heaven rejoicing over people being saved AGAIN SAYS NOTHING ABOUT WHETHER THEY CAN HEAR PEOPLE'S PRAYERS OR PRAY TO GOD FOR THEM!
The example of Abraham and Lazarus and the rich man is a parable dude. Sam is drawing, not opinions about suggested possibilities, but hard conclusions out of ancillary bits of parables. This is really out there now. Lol he wasn't expecting the young man to read the 31st verse which works against Sam's position. The dead would need to rise to be able to communicate with the living. Communication is a two way street. If the dead need to rise to speak to the living, then the dead also need to rise to HEAR from the living!
He asks how Abraham knows of Moses and the prophets who came after him, and of the events taking place on earth. It's simple. Abraham is in HEAVEN and he is a friend of God. Jesus says a servant does not know his master's business, but only a friend. In other words, God reveals these things to Abraham. None of this implies that individuals in heaven hear prayers from LIVNG HUMANS!
The premise Sam is trying to set, which is that People in Heaven can and do know what happens on earth does not lead to his conclusion, which is that they can also hear individual prayers from living people on earth. The conclusion does not follow from the premise AT ALL.
I am shocked to hear someone I thought was so wise make such mistakes in judgement, but I suppose it's a humbling reminder of all of our human fallibility and a reminder that we should all consistently humble ourselves to the possibility that we are wrong.
This poor kid was scared into submitting to Sam's bullish tactics. I say this in love because I do respect Sam's conviction as a believer. I just think he's extremely wrong on this one. I hope he realized that just because he prays that God correct him, doesn't mean he should behave as though every position he takes - including one of the many on which he's changed his mind on before - is by default the correct position. It is still possible that he err, and go from a correct to an incorrect position.
Iagree with with everythng you say but Abraham and Lazarus is not a parable, its a true story. Why would Jesus use true names and character if it was not true. If were possible and we ask Abraham if he had a conversatin with the rich man and he says no, would that mean Jesus had lied about Abraham?
I pray that his pressed arrogance in regards to his knowledge doesn't become his downfall, because with stability comes conviction to one's infallibility which is not as the Bible states that if you think you have stood think again.
Hi. Since you disagree with this take, I've questions for you:
1. Are these "prayers of the saints" their own? If so, who are they praying for if they're unaware of and uninvolved in worldly affairs? They're already in heaven, what's the need for holding prayer/incense?
2. If not theirs, whose prayers are they carrying and for what purpose?
3. Further, why are the angel with the golden censer and the saints even tasked with this to begin with? What's the purpose of this if it isn't God's intention to make "use of them" in some way as intercessors?
Thanks and God bless.
Well done!
The whole point of this Topic is actually quite simple: There’s no reason to pray to Mary for anything, because we pray to a living God. If our God lives, why do we need Mary? We also see in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man that it's only the one in torment who is concerned and regrets the time on earth, for Lazsrus and all the saints with him, they are resting and in peace and won't be concerned with passing messages for the living .
The Bible is not silent on this Issue, it's quite clear, the saints, which are just all believers are to pursue together and pray for each other but at the same time Christ is the only mediator and its clear that the dead saints are not in the business of playing mediator, they have finished their course and await the final resurrection. Why anyone will leave all the living and breathing believers and start looking for dead ones to pray is strange. It's actually God's desire that we come together and pray for each other so that we as the Body, will have the practicality of being built up together.

@@Disciple-ofChrist I mean it does seem like a big jump.. between John getting a revelation in heaven, and people intercessing for peoples prays in heaven.
Am I getting this right? At 4:20, by what was read and explained, you pray to the saints hoping that the Lord will tell the saints that someone is asking the saints to intercede on their behalf to the Lord?
Nope this aint the argument. The interlocutor was asked how did John was able to hear and understand at the same time all people from different language on earth (Rev 5:11), he answered, "God revealed it to him". Hence Sam asked to be consistant with his proposed solution and asked him, what then prevent God to do the same for the saints? His consistent answer was nothing prevent God to let them know when people are praying (or asking of their intercession). The lesson being, whatever proposed model, mechanism or solution one uses for the reason of John's ability to know, Sam is asking for an honest consistency with the saints. If John can surnaturally do that without making him an omniscient being, hence there is no reason to assume that if saints do the same we have to attach to them the label of omniscient.
I wanted to ask one thing. If suppose the saints who are dead can hear our prayers. So do they also feel out pain and groanings. Do they get emotional or also feel the same pain? If they do then they can't be in heaven because I don't think anyone can have those human feelings. Can anyone answer my question and put me at ease
Hey, Daniel. I'm no expert, but I feel that I might be able to give a little bit of insight. Plus, I noticed that no one paid heed to you. When you ask if saints feel our pain, I am assuming you are referring to empathy. Does God not have empathy for us? Given that heaven is heaven because of God's presence, and Jesus is God in the flesh, didn't he cry when he saw the tears of the people when they cried for Lazarus? The only way we wouldn't feel another person's pain is if we don't have a heart. Let's take an example. Imagine you went to heaven but learned that your mom was sent to the place of torment. Maybe she had a heavy heart and you didn't know about it until you went to heaven. Because you are in heaven, would you then assume that you wouldn't care about the loss of your mom's soul? I get that the Bible said in heaven you would not have tears, but that does not mean that you won't have empathy. I hope I am understanding your concern and somewhat answering it.
Feeling bad about humans on earth doesn’t mean your evil. Suffering in Heaven is possible as long as the judgment hasn’t come. Unless people in Heaven forget their memory they suffer thinking about the people in earth who aren’t in the right path

Ask yourself this, Mary was alive in the Bible, so if they wanted her intercession, they would have just asked her for it in person. So think of that when you say why are there no prayers to Mary in the Bible. Also, in the Old Testament everyone who died went to Sheol, or various levels of hell. When Jesus came, that all changed and everyone went to either hell, or eternal life in heaven. Most Protestants quote Old Testament scripture out of context to try and prove their minority views on the saints or Marian intercession. The majority of living Christians now and throughout history have been either orthodox or Catholic. You don’t even see these Protestant views until 1,500 years after Christ’s death.
Thank you ❤
That’s a pretty bad argument. You can use that to argue ANY doctrine that, by your logic, wouldn’t apply if it “wouldn’t make sense that the apostles were alive”. Most of the apostles were dead by the time the Apostle John wrote Revelation and his epistles - and we still don’t have any evidence of prayers to the saints. And Protestants have a WAY more faithful view of Scripture because we ACTUALLY USE CONTEXT instead of Catholics who try to fit newer doctrines like Saint prayers, Mariology, and Icon veneration back into the text which would have never been identified inside of it otherwise.
Mr Sam , I have always loved listening to you and my spirit normally confirms your argument but on this one, my spirit disallowed or rejects this your analysis.
The being responsible to carry , keep and offer the prayers of the saints on the altar , are angels .
As for John , except you have not had a divine revelation but if you have , the spirit quickens you to understand many things.
All these saints , do not bring prayers or petitions before God , they can be made aware of what is going on but that doesn't qualify them to be prayed to .

Pray only to God don't listen to this false teacher he will lead you away from God.
Praying is not equal to worship. It can be part of worship but not exclusive to. Catholics/Eastern Orthodox pray to saints as asking or requesting. The request is so that saints in heaven can offer our prayers to God. This in no way puts praying to God at a lesser degree, because we must always be praying to him. Instead, we see it as the same as someone on earth praying/interceding for us. (1 Timothy 2:1)
God does not need any help listening to prayers.
He is capable of hearing every one of at the same time.
NO WHERE in The Bible does it say to pray to dead people.
Jesus had Mary with Him for 33 years, and NEVER did He say to pray to His mother.
In fact, when Jesus was teaching and His mother and brothers wanted to talk to Him, He said, who are my mother and my brethren, and looking at the crowd He was teaching He said, Behold my mother and brethren.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father except through Him.
And no one is supposed to carry graven images of dead people around on their body and pray to them.
No one needs to be lighting candles with images of dead humans on them and bowing before them.
We do not need to ask a man in a box what we need to do to have our sins forgiven. We pray to God, in Jesus' name, ONLY.
Jesus, only Jesus. There is no other way.
The devil is just deceiving anyone who thinks they are getting into Heaven by praying to over 10,000 dead humans.
@vvvvs7332 no man cometh to the father but by me.
@vvvvs7332 there is an overlooked difference between praying "for" and praying "to"
Catholics/Orthodox-Worship & Pray to Jesus,Father,Holy spirit. Mary&Saints are ask to pray/intercede for us- to magnify our prayers to God. They are alive in Heaven with God.
One problem with this. Just because God CAN reveal our innermost thoughts to a person or an angel, does not mean we should assume God always WILL do this. For example:
God COULD reveal my thoughts to Sam Shamoun who lives 2,000 miles away from me. But just because God COULD do this does not mean I should now pray to Sam Shamoun when I'm alone in my prayer closet.
The only person which The Scriptures tell us to pray to is God.
If Mary, or Peter, or Paul, or Sam Shamoun are ever in the same room as me, I will most certainly ask them to pray for me. But I have no Scriptural basis to assume that Mary, or Peter, or Sam Shamoun can hear me when I'm praying.
And again, just because God could reveal my prayers to them does not mean I must now begin praying to them.
Sam's arguments have become very bizarre.
True
Does mary have a computer to help her process all of these prayers? Even if she is aware of all of these prayers, unless she has some ability to alter time or do parallel processing herself, there is no way she could handle the volume herself.

First of all, you are assuming that time works the same way in paradise as it does here.
Second, do you acknowledge that the devil tempt each and every person? Is he also omniscient or omnipresent? Now you might just say that he does it through his demons, but where does it explicitly say that? Scripture specifically says that the devil is a roaring lion who Prowse around looking for people to devour, it doesn't say that the devil and his angels are like a pack of roaring Lions.
So if a created being like Satan can somehow reach billions of people and influence them, and he is not omniscient or omnipresent, then how much more so the holy ones of God?

Verse 26 " 26And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” now this verse is never fully written or quoted in our bibles, the words eis ton aiona which means "to the age", is missing, I am still trying to find out why it's not written in most bibles.
So if you believe in Christ, you will never die permanently, but that must mean if you don't believe, you will die permanently, this is not talking about spiritual death, that just isn't part of the equation, because in verse 25, Jesus is speaking about resurrection, and resurrection is only ever of the body.

What I don't understand in these arguments is that we give more respect to prophet Samuel who Guided and anointed David than to Mother Mary who birthed Jesus.

The "Rosary" is of pagan origin. There is no warrant in the Word of God for the use of the "sign of the cross". It had its origin in the mystic "Tau" of the Chaldeans and Egyptians. It came from the letter "T," the initial name of Tammuz. It was used in the "Babylonian Mysteries" for the same magic purposes as the Roman Church now employs it. Celibacy, the Tonsure, and the Order of Monks and Nuns, have no warrant or authority from Scripture. The Holy Spirit is given to enable all Believers to lift up as He shows, according to His leading, for whosoever believes, as they should because He knows everything, and also brings their requests to God the Father, with groaning that words couldn't declare, and God that knows their hearts and the mind of the Holy Spirit, answers according to His will!
Romans 8; John 14:26; 1 John 5; John 17.
Believers pray one with and for each other.
Only the effectual fervent prayer of the Righteous in Christ avails.

I will agree that there is no explicit verse that tells ask those in heaven to intercede for us, but this is an argument from silence. Just as there's is no explicit verse telling us to prayer to, worship our glorify there Holy Spirit, yet we take Scripture as a whole and understand these things.

Would it be ok to ask Billy Graham for prayers? Or maybe Enoch or Moses?
Ome question i have, is it okay to make churches in the name of mary or saints
Yes it is, because they are in their blessed memory.
We believe that God appoints his holy ones to watch over people, places and even entire nations.
The Bible for example states that God put some of his angels in charge of the nations. Now some of these angels became corrupted and started excepting worship from humans, but nevertheless, God appointed them. These were the watchers who became fallen angels. This is what the psalms are referring to when they say that the gods of the nations are demons.
So he became a Common Christian practice that whenever they destroyed a pagan temple, they would build a church on the site of that temple to sanctify the ground. Then they would replace the name of that god or goddess with the name of a holy person either from the Bible or a leader saint that died in righteousness. It's basically their way of taking out the demon and making it God's turf. It doesn't mean that the saint is prioritized over God. In fact, the image of the Saint is usually not even on or near the altar of the church. They are usually located either near the entrance of the church to greet visitors, or they are painted somewhere on the wall or the ceiling.
@sakogekchyan7366 that's what confuses me, my church has a huge picture of the virgin mary in the middle of the altar, and justa little picture of Jesus on top🤔 and 2 statues om the side, on of Jesus and one of Mary
If Christ celebrates his Mother, why would it be bad for us to celebrate His earthly Mother as well? Virgin Mary was around Christ longer than anyone on Earth... 34 years including the pregnancy, And yes she remained a virgin afterwards because when someone had a Godly event, they would be considered sanctified ground and would separate themselves from their spouse to keep themselves sanctified.
@@spartanastas5560 idk it just feels like my church is more centered on Mary and the Saints than God, I'm talking visually only
@uentello6963 The Catholic Church made Mary equal to Christ, if I'm not mistaken... Not the case in the Orthodox Church. We respect Theotokos (vessel of God) so much, but she is not on the same level as Christ because she can't be. Only through the Virgin Mary did Christ become man. So she is VERY important. Without Mary, would Christ have been born? Nobody can answer that because we can never understand, so we trust God because He is all knowing and can see the forest, the whole forest and all other forests. As long as you only pray to the Virgin Mary for intercession, then you're doing it right.

Church Militant vs Church Triumphant
In the Eastern Orthodox Church, We have one Church that is made up of two parts: the Church Militant and the Church Triumphant. The Church Militant is the Church on earth fighting, as if in an arena at a stadium, for their salvation. The Church Triumphant is the church in Christ or in Heaven that have become Saints already… and they make up the rest of the stadium seating area as they have conquered and are triumphant in their salvation. The Church Triumphant in the stands are watching us, as the saints fill the empty seats of our Churches and are always giving Church Militant encouragement to inspiration so that we may also become saved and be a part of the Church Triumphant. Both are alive and make up the Church of Christ.
There are spirits that are dead and those are the spirits that experience second death, which is a soul away from Christ. Those are the souls that we are not allowed to communicate with. The Church Triumphant is alive in Christ and are with us to assist us in any way possible through the grace of Christ. It really is beautiful.
The Orthodox Church believes that Faith, Grace and works are important, along with baptism, forgiveness, confession, repentance and the Eucharist IS the Body and blood of Christ. As Apostle Peter said:
“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”
1 Peter 4:17-19
"And if the righteous scarcely be saved, ..." Why would Peter say this if everyone who declares the Christ is their Lord and Savior is automatically saved until the end for their Faith? The Devil has faith... so how do we differentiate ourselves from the Devil who already has faith that Christ exists? We need to be as Christ-like as possible. We need to treat others how we want Jesus Christ to treat us when we are being judged.
“But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.”
Jude 1: 5
The people of Israel were saved from slavery in Egypt, which was a definite past event, but they still had to walk in faith and obedience afterward. God saved the group of Israelites, and then sifted through that group for the worthy.

We do agree, Moses, that the fullness of truth excludes practices contrary to true religion. We do agree that necromancy is contrary to true religion. We do agree that idolatry is contrary to true religion.
The difficulty that I have lies in identifying why you consider your reply meaningful in the context of Sam's video and my post. The only reasonable interpretation that I'm able to identify is that you see either real risk or necessary transgression in Sam's identification of praying to the mother of Jesus.
In order for me meaningfully to pursue the question whether of risk or of necessary transgression, I have a few choices, all with downsides.
In the first place, I could give a summary discussion of the various difficulties and their correction. Since there are several particular difficulties and several elements in their correction, and there have been entire books written to answer the various difficulties, such a general discussion would necessarily be summary and so no more than suggestive rather than conclusive.
In the second place, I could make a guess about what particular difficulty or difficulties you have, and try to answer them, but again in summary form and so suggestive rather than demonstrative, and possibly completely irrelevant to the particular difficulties that you have, Moses.
In the third place, I could ask you what particular difficulties you have, so that we could engage those meaningfully. The problem with this approach is that CZcams comment sections don't typically or easily provide for meaningful sustained engagement, as opposed to sound bite zingers. Suffice it to say that Sam's video provides occasion for those with such difficulties to encounter the thought that such difficulties have both been encountered and overcome. Further pursuit is at your discretion, Moses.
Only pray to our lord God in heaven
The truth shall set you free. 🙏❤️🔥
