  • Well not sure how the feed back on this video will be, but I really needed a cab for my FF24 and sears did not make on for The FF line up. As far I as I know i don't believe that sears offered a cab for them, So I did the best thing I could do and that was to go right to FaceBook Market Place. I looked for a cab that was made for all sorts of tractors but I fell short. I got to looking at the John Deere cabs and knowing that this FF24 is really close to the 400 John Deere's it was my best and fastest way to get a cab on this FF24. Hopefully you guys don't give me too much of a hard time on this one.

Alex this is what I did to put another set of rear wheels on my FF24, Went to a junk yard and found a set of rims that had a center of 7 to 10 inches, Cut the center out and fitted them to the rear of my other rims that I had for my tractor, Then I made tabs that were bent at 90 and welded them to the back side of them centers that I got from the junk yard, Them tabs I set to the same space as the lugs to the tires that were on the tractor, After that went and got rod and welded caps on the end that was going to be on the inside of the rim that was mounted on the tractor them rods go to them 4 square holes that are on the outer of the rim got nuts for them rods and they bolted my new rims also to the other rim on the tractor, Took it all off and primed it and painted them all white got new rear 26x12x12 meats filled them with washer fluid , Them rims look like this is how it came from sears. I use my FF24 different then you, I use mine for my citrus farm and not use it to clear snow or cut grass or any kind of yard work, there is many times I will run my tractor for 6 to 8 hrs. at a time the only time I stop is to get more gas and then I go back out in my fields, With that 3 point hitch I put so many implements behind the tractor I never would have thought it could pull them but it does with ease, Have fun with that tractor and let it snow , let it snow only on your yard.

That’s very helpful thank you. It’s awesome to hear how other people run these FF tractors. Mine is not in the right shape to be running that long. I think the longest I got my FF24 to run is 45 minutes to an hour long before it quits. I’m suspecting my carburetor is bad. I have replaced everything else and it definitely needs one whether that’s the problem or not.

Alex, that is cool that you got that cab to fit like it was made for it, down here in Alford, Fla we do not get the winters that you get, I have never used them wheel weight, so I know nothing about them. I use windshield washer fluid in my inner tubes, with having 4 wheels in the rear I have a lot more traction with this set up, Oh I also went with 10 inches up front works out really well, next step looks at getting power steering it works out so well. Good video.

I do have a second set of wheels I would love to do duals in the rear. Just don’t know where I would get dual wheel spacers though. Yeah I think 10’s in the front would look so much better.

Alex, Just looking at the carb is only one thing that can go wrong, Pull the head off and look at the valve train as well as the inside of the block it all ties together, Me I went in and rebuild the motor from the top of the motor to the lower end, Also I only put in the highest grade of fuel that I can get, And as well for the oil, I worked on Aircraft me whole life for Northwest and Delta airlines so I have seen what insides of motors should look like, Keep us posted and I will tell you what and how I did my rebuild...

You were saying that you have a new carb, Well check all fuel lines in fact replace all lines, Vac lines, fuel lines, Do a vacuum test, compression test, mike the cylinder see if they are out of round, check the cam, also clean the block inside and out, here is build up from fuel from years past that leave there deposit of junk, I have my own machine shop so the price was already paid for from past jobs but rebuild it like it is a small block chevy motor, You will be miles ahead, Avoid Costly mistakes, do quality machine work, you will spend some coin but then you will know what that motor is all about and what needs to be replaced or just a cleaning.. When I bought this FF24 it was not running. I inspected the tank and found sediment and grit in the bottom of the tank. Also found that the fuel lines were in bad condition. So I completely cleaned the tank and did all new fuel lines. I took the old carb off and completely cleaned it. I found that same junk from the tank in the bowl of the carb so I’m guessing why I have problems with it running is all that junk wore out the carb. I have a new carb ordered and on its way. Also had the whole engine out of the machine I had to replace the oil pan gasket. There is a video of me doing that on the channel.

Any chance you could put a steering knob on the inner part of the steering wheel somewhere so you can turn with one hand without hitting the bottom of the windshield?

That’s a good idea! I will look into it. If I’m successful you’ll see that in part 2.
