AUTOCONNECT PROBLEM! JOHN DEERE X739 WINTER TO SUMMER SWITCH

  • In this video you'll see how to install or uninstall several John Deere attachments on my John Deere x739 garden tractor. This includes a John Deere AutoConnect mower deck, John Deere 54" Snow Plow and Quick Hitch, John Deere 3 Bin Material Collection System, and John Deere suitcase weights with a Click N Go weight bracket. I thought it would be a completely simple transition from winter to spring setup for the John Deere x739 garden tractor, but when I went to turn on the mower, nothing happened! No belts spinning, no spindles turning, nothing!
    So, check it out as this could be a maintenance area that you want to look into on a periodic basis on your John Deere tractor if it's equipped with a AutoConnect mower. The solution is relatively simple, but it's a matter of knowing the pieces you need to repair it correctly. I was so ready to get out and tackle some spring clean up in my yard yesterday, but everything had to wait a day. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and please consider subscribing if you haven't done so already!

    UHMW >> Ultra High Molecular Weight
    It's pretty tough stuff that resists abrasion and wear better than other plastics and rubber materials. It is a pain to machine on a mill because likes to resist cutting and deforms away from the milling cutter, then springs back to its memory position. Need to use extremely sharp tooling, and it still is a PITA.

    Fantastic helpful video! One quick question that maybe you guys have had to tackle... We have a X758 that has the same auto-connect setup, but our rear draft lock line is not "locking" when the bars go into place, so when you raise the deck it just slides out of position. Any tips on how to adjust that lock so it stays put? Manual doesn't seem to address it anywhere.

  • @BG-vq9fd
    @BG-vq9fd Před 4 lety +3

    Thanks for the review. I always lock the l pins after I raise the bagger frame.
    I think my X738 is slightly older than your X739. Starting 5th summer. Dealer told me the 3 bags would be very difficult to empty so I ordered the MC14 dump from the seat hopper. It's ok for grass but stinks for leaves. He was right about the bags. I try to never get them full or just use the hopper.
    I could not tell if your power flow belt was installed the correct direction.

      @@GoodWorksTractors Yes grass is hard to get out of the bags. To dump leaves from the hopper, I dump with the lever then get off to raise the black cover to push out all the leaves that have stuck up there.

    Cory... good vid. I have a X739, 3 years old with 400 hrs. I just had the dealer do some warrantee work this spring on a number of the various steering linkages that were getting worn and sloppy. (To determine problem areas, just jack the rear end up a little with a floor jack, and slop the rear wheels back and forth while watching all of the various joints for slop.) I think he replaced about 4 or 5 parts total, including the "rocker" arm mounted to the frame right next to the side of the engine. I think all of that would have cost me about $400 to $500 if I would have waited past warrantee time.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Před 4 lety +2

      You can only adjust the mower deck height when in the raise position. Make sure you're doing that. also, if you have a valve for a front plow or snowblower, then make sure that is opened too. Lastly, it make just be stuck from a long winter, so put the parking brake on, machine off, and try to pull it along. There's no weight on the arms right now, so takes a little more effort to lower compared to when it has the weight of the mower deck hanging on it.

      @@GoodWorksTractors The thing is you can't have everything in one tractor IMHO. An X700 base weight I think is 840 lbs, a series one is 1440 lbs if memory serves. The series one is too heavy for continued use on an irrigated lawn. I have an X310 that I use (540.lbs) to mow about an acre of my house lawn and still I have to change how I mow each time so as not to rut up the lawn too bad. I have a series one tractor that I mow the rest of the property that is not irrigated much, just too heavy to use continually on the irrigated lawn around the house. And I leave the front end loader/bucket and backhoe on the series one because, well, I bought it for that kind of work. (loaded weight of about 2800 lbs with drive over deck/loader/hoe)
      Just my 2 penny's because it just may not make cents to the rest of you, ha

    Do you feel the auto connect pto is worth it? I have heard some mixed reviews about it being more hassle than it is worth. No to mention you have the auto connect under the tractor when snow blowing. When I get my x739 I plan to mow and switch out in the winter for a snow blower. Possibly take the deck off once during the summer to clean and sharpen blades. I feel like it would be easier to just get the standard shaft.

    Whether a John Deere 700 series orca Kubota by series, I like the fact that both come off and go back on easy when it’s time to service the deck! , I need to upgrade, I have both a snapper and /22 yr old ( Real Murray) both 46 in. Cut, and they are both a pain to service when you need to remove the deck, I’ve done pulled out all my hair and bald now so I need an upgrade right? While the Deere looks to be alittle bit( not much) easier than the Kubota, The kubota seems to be mechanically better secured which may make a difference over time and wear, what’s your thoughts?

      Good Works Tractors I would agree that John Deere system is better IF, your frequently dropping your deck to do other stuff, but my needs would have the deck on there all the time and removing only for deck service , Yes the Deere is a little quicker to attach, but both are much better than what I must go thru with what I have now. I’ve watched both manufacturers deck removals and I like them both, for me considering which one to buy , the deal breaker would have to come from a different aspect of these tractors, Thanks, I Enjoy your videos very much!
