The Green Berets, at least of a lot of it, was filmed at Fort Benning, Georgia, where my husband's father was stationed at the time. John Wayne played football with some of the men there, including my father-in-law and on that day my husband, who was 2 years old at the time, was on base. John Wayne held him for awhile. We are both huge John Wayne fans and he sure wishes he could remember his time in The Duke's arms. Thank you for taking us to this museum. What a great place to visit!

Really love this video. I had the pleasure of visiting that museum with my step father, before he passed away. Back in the early 70's, my step father was a bodyguard for John Wayne. He used to tell me stories about parties on the Wild Goose. At one time, he owned one of John Waynes guns, but it was stolen right before he passed away. Always told me what a humble man John Wayne was. My favorite movie of his was True Grit and The Alamo

The funniest John Wayne scene is in 1960's North to Alaska, when he briefly but noticeably loses his toupee.

To your point of always wanting to be in the military and depicting them in the proper light, his movie, the Green Berets was the ONLY pro Vietnam movie to come out during the Vietnam era, and they are very few that are pro Vietnam war since. There are some that are about the soldiers that were forced to go to the Vietnam war, but not pro Vietnam war and I find that really good of him.
