I liked the rice look of a tow hook, and if I ever actually do track the car it will come in handy as well. I tried to find the best quality and lowest cost I could find. For 25.99 shipped this one is pretty good. Install is very simple takes under 5 minutes. I wonder if I should have gone with gold? the black kinda blends in more than I'd like..

Just a helpful tip, these tug hooks are 25 because they’ll snap and break once they’re under tension.. they’re 99% cosmetic.. now when you spend that 150 on one you’re pretty guaranteed that your hook won’t snap if you’re trying to get pulled out of a ditch or something.. look into the raceng if you want a fully functional tug hook for your wrx, if you just want it for looks this the best route
My, man!!! You're a Bad ass for hooking us up with these products! just installed the red version of this tow hook and am blown away by the quality and finish! Thanks a bunch!
next time, for the rear bumper you can push out from inside, just get your arm under the car and push... no paint damage.
+maxeman lol that seems so obvious. Thanks. I didn't think of that
@@DadMods or literally put a microfiber over the prytool...
Solid. Wife got rear ended we got a new bumper but i forgot to get a new tow hook cover painted so it’s still scratched so going this route
Appreciate your videos man! I have a 17 WRX as well and there are some things I just can't justify dropping a bunch of coin on, a $130 tow hook was one of them! going to order one of these and your license plate relocator! Thanks again!
+greg dickey thanks.. that's one of the big reasons I started making these videos. Too many expensive parts out there when the budget parts work just as well.
I know this is an old video but I think they included that nut so you can put a socket driver on it and get it more than 'hand tight'
I hope you guys know that there's one located in your trunk next to your spare tire. Its more beefier and made from factory. No need to douche drive with an aftermarket cheap aluminum tow eye.
I'd just keep it in the glove compartment untill its needed.. just like the tire lug nut remover.
Late to the game on this... I have some feedback:
1) Use a flathead screwdriver to pop the cover off like you did, but if you put a hand towel over the screwdriver it won't cause any damage to the paint.
2) I would've put anti-sieze on the thread/nut (gigity.. jk) prior to installation.
You can stick a ricer Tow Here ---> sticker on your car since it blends in.
+Pitties, a WRX and More lol I thought about that but that seems a little bit too ricey. I think those are a good idea at the track too but most people just do it temporarily with masking tape.

Nice lugnuts. Question - how do you screw them on and off without damaging the red paint?
+Crabmoth Flunderbum someone said to wrap it with wax paper or something. I was careful the first time but since I've just wrenched them off with no concern and they haven't gotten damaged. So I don't think it's a big deal as long as you aren't an idiot about it and toss them around....
Whoohoo Texas
+VG G go houston!
would this fit a 2016 subaru crosstrek STI
It would fit the thread, i'm not sure if the distance would be good. But probably. What is a Crosstrek STI?
ohh alright thanks its a crosstrek with a sport package, and i have done some stuff to the engine.
+DEVIN Hynes sweet I like the cross Trek it's pretty capable from what I hear. It has the same ground clearance as my wife's pilot
Alright I emailed you
You should paint your headlights! that would look super aggressive
+Fox Stowe I'm not sure how
Hqen2000 its fairly straightforward, remove the bumper, take out the headlights, seperate the lense from the body using a heatgun or oven (i did one without any heat and one with a heatgun) then simply unscrew the plastic part, spray paint it then remove all the stock sealant and reassemble everything then reseal with new sealant
+Fox Stowe I wouldn't mind doing that but it seems kinda scary. I'll see if I can find someone else who has done it
Hqen2000 yes it was scary haha. After i painted when i tried to put it back in the sealant would stick on the paint and rip it off, very frustrating. Took a while but in my opinion totally changed the look of the car. Patience and caution is key
+Fox Stowe is there a service or somewhere I can get it done? I just blacked out the badges and put rally armor mud flaps it actually looks really good right now. I'm not sure what do next. I'll post the videos when I'm done editing.
This might be a dumb question, but will this same tow hook work on the front bumper as well?
+Jordan Conomos yup.. it does
how long is the screw
+DEVIN Hynes email me I'll send you one. Hqen2000 gmail.
Rumor has it, they break under any legit load. Can you confirm or deny?
+John Stepp never tried. But it's pretty solid I wouldn't use it as the tie down on a full racecar but for an occasional pull it's fine
I towed a Mercedes E class out of snow couple months ago by using this. It did not break at all.
+Zheyuan Lyu how did the WRX do in the pulling? It's light so I'd assume not good
It did pretty well actually, first try failed, second time I turned off traction control and pulled the mercedes out easily. I was on winter performance tires.
Can this get stolen if Parked on the street per say?
Yes
Hqen2000 what about loctighten the hook to the bar?
I wouldn’t bother if someone just had something to stick in it to turn it they’d be able to break it free. It’s like $27 so i wouldn’t bother with all that
Hqen2000 $27 bucks for?
The tow hook
Next video show us you getting towed by the new tow hook to prove that it's worth the $25 and not just some cheap piece of crap
Your car comes with one from factory in your trunk.
I realized this too late and got this one from the video. It's obviously more aesthetically pleasing than the other can nicer to just leave on, but yeah the one that comes with the car seems heavier duty
I know you didn’t ask me but... I’m getting one just for appearances. If I ever need a tow, I’ll pull the one out of my trunk.
It looks nice on the video but how is the quality? Is it made in China?
+Pitties, a WRX and More probably made in China. The quality looks fine. I wouldn't have an issue pulling the car or towing it with it.
Pitties, a WRX and More if its JDM wouldnt it be made in Japan
it’s not suppose to sit in that far in. and 100% guarantee that “tow hook” will snap. there are multiple videos of that. if you care about your car, don’t go cheap
Let's put cardboard on the hood....GREAT IDEA!!!!
+TheMrkd1 what are you talking about? You think it's going to scratch it? Cardboard? Lol
Heck yea! I've personally seen it several time especially when you moved it around. Sucks bro
+TheMrkd1 lol ok I'll be more careful. On the next one I put down a towel.
All good brotha as a fellow '17 sti owner I hate scratches gotta keep em looking beautiful!
@@TheMrkd1 you sound like a tool and cardboard is going to scratch your car just as much as snow would, unless if you are not being careful
