    Is it me, or does it seem that the bagpipes came in on the wrong foot? The tunes appear to be on the right foot leading, not the left, but as they came in a step to soon, they have to play the tune...I am ex military, I play in bands too, and I have tried to `march` to the sound of the pipes, and I am finding myself moving to the off beats, or leading with the right not the left. Anyone see that?

    • @ianduncan7189
      @ianduncan7189 Před 5 lety +12

      very simple answer here. they played greeh hills of tyrol, when the battles over and then lochanside. all 3/4 tunes, in this time signature the lead foot or strong beat changes through the tune. being strong weak medium, strong weak medium. over a two bar period. this means the beat tranfers fisrt on the left foot then to right then back to left. basically marching to watz time. most brass band players can never grasp this. the problem here is the march tempo is too quick. as a piper of 30 + years you hear the beat emphasis in these tunes clearly when played at proper piping tempo of about 80 -85 bpm not at 120 bpm, all expresion by the pipers is lost. also the first note the pipers play is an E which is on the left foot, after drones have started. the first note of the tune here is an A played correctly on the left foot. hence you are hearing the pipes starting up, which is not part of the tune.
      from the order to play, pipes take four paces to blow up the bag, then strike in drones on 3rd left foot, two paces to play E then two paces to start tune. so you hear drones strike on 3rd left foot, then E next left foot, the first notes of tune on right foot if tune has introductory notes then real tune starts next left foot. watch the edinburgh tattoo when the pipers march off from standing and you will hear and see the introduction or start of a pipe band, usually a 7 pace roll by the drums. slow marches can start in a three pace roll by striking drones on the order to slow march.

      @TheDrummie1 Před 5 lety

      @@ianduncan7189 well explained, normally the bands on their own march at around 116 bpm but they ate leading the footguards at 120 here, very quick indeed for Drums and Pipes. When the Contemptibles march is being played it seems to settle to a steadier pace. The Drums and Pipes actually seem to increase the pace themselves.

    • @kenUK762
      @kenUK762 Před 5 lety +5

      @ Daniel Munter. It's because the size of the Army has been reduced over the years ( virtually all NATO armies have ), and the bands have been reduced accordingly. The quality of the musicianship, glad to say, remains intact. The five Foot Guards Bands each have an established strength of 46 I believe, this from around 60 'back in the day' when the Army was over twice the size it currently is.

    이러니 배움없이 그냥. 민주주의 어려워요. 그러나 갈 길음 확실하니. 공부 학문을 중시하고 기준 즉 핵을 중심으로 사람이 갈구하는 민주주의를 잘 만들어야지. 그저 역심만으로는 좋은 모습을 만들 수가 없어요. 대통령 중심도 있는 핵을 이용하여 잘 다듬으면 가능성이 있는 것이지 그냥 아떻게 안되나. 안돼요. 참 어려운 일입니다. 잘해서 자신을 기준으로 시작하고. 있는 제도를 중심으로 잘 보완하여 다듬어 가고 만들어 가야지요. 그저 전통은 아니고 새것만으로. 에이그것은. 똑같은 실수의 반복이지요. 하려면 독일 사회주의 참 잘대응하는 모습. 대단해요. 그들도 아시아에 한 종족이었는데. 거기가서 척박한 땅을 잘 다루어. 좋은 제도를 만든걱은 실제 혼도 많이 났는데. 여왕님의 배려로. 잘살고 있으니 참 좋아요. 하하. 대통령제. 잘 관라하면 또 더 좋음 제도로 발달할 수 있어요. 돈을 앛세우면 그리 좋은 제도 어렵지요. 하라.
