The fact that the community take turns trying to rescue is just heartwarming. They have good neighbors
Indeed. If more communities can look out for strays, newborns and feral colonies, maybe we can care for cats in a mutually beneficial way.
And if we can do that, maybe... just maybe... we can dream of even further responsibilities. But right now, let's take our victories wherever we can: this community ought to get an award. :)

Sampletext: you beat me to it. This is the kind of thing that kids remember for the rest of their lives. Kudos to the parents and the whole neighbourhood for their kindness and compassion.
So true, but I wish we had a class in all elementary schools to teach basic animal care. We’d have far fewer strays and animals in shelters if everyone had the chance to learn early on to care for animals and about the impact it has to neglect them or let them roam the streets.
A week before my first cat passed away, and on a literal stormy day, She led a stray kitten home. He was not hers, she had been spayed. He could not have gotten into the house without Her help. It's been almost 20 years now and he's still with me.

Yes, I say “someone” when referring to cats. In the context of family, cats, dogs, bunnies, hamsters… really, any kind of pet… all of them are just as valuable as us humans.

There seems to be an absolute insistence that 99% of people (but especially young people who are often criticised for existing) are stupid, self-centred arseholes unless proven otherwise with some particular deed. And while I can be cynical and pessimistic, I also know that are many good people out there who want to do the right thing.

There are literally poor families outside who adopt a neighbour's kids, because said neighbour died of cancer. Or who move in a second family into their home because the home of that family was destroyed by a fire. Or who come together and help someone sort out their destroyed home after a catastrophy. Who help an elderly lonely neighbour with food or backyard work or some blankets or whatever. Poor people are not selfish. They know what it means to need.
Great teamwork among the neighbors (and Beebo) for getting this precious family of kitties off the street and into loving homes! :-). What a purrfect ending😻😻😻

Doesn’t have to a kitten. Some older cats might do better with a new housemate who is past kitten stage and is over two years.

Lupin really took "You got to be hard to get" to heart and ran with it. Amazing that the families came together to get these to little furballs to safety, and gave them their forever homes.

Indeed. I didn't even know what an excavator was at her age, and my dad was a heavy equipment operator! Not only are they smart, but also compassionate = a winning combo. If we raise our kids to care, they most likely will. Small kindnesses make a big difference!

So great to see such a great neighborhood with great community spirit, engaged parents and compassionate kids. It shouldn’t be so hard to have this be the norm but it is. Great job to all these folks and thanks for rescuing these little ones.
:) Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's incredibly hard to be good people in middle-class suburbia. :) Why can't everyone endeavor to be as good as them with the challenges they face? Like, everyone patrolling the neighborhood for innocent lost kittens :) They should relocate to the ghettos and teach us how to handle our lesser issues :) Life could all be like this: Everyone dropping what they are doing and scouring the neighborhood for kittens in need of help :)
If you haven't noticed, I find it incredibly annoying when people cherry-pick easy lives as the example we should all thrive towards, lol. Would these same people be the same people if you totally changed their neighborhoods, like a wife swap episode, where they suddenly live in the ghettos instead of paradise?
Oh, not paradise, all hedged in? Damn, I feel like the Devil now... Lol. Isn't that the wager that the Devil proposed to God? That job was protected and hedged in by God, so Satan said Job would curse God if he removed that protection. Perhaps I'm being unfair and bitter. However, it truly is annoying when people see everyone trying to rescue helpless, adorable kittens, then they pedestal them up like they remained true to themselves in the harshest climate possible, so why can't we all be like them?

Assuming the basic premise your rant is correct, what’s wrong with going to a fantastic restaurant for dinner, having a wonderful meal, and then saying you wished all food could be that good. What the hell does that have to do with restaurants that eg don’t have access to such fresh produce, or don’t have a chef with such extensive training? It’s a general wish for a everything to be better, not a tacit criticism of anyone. Any person who feels the need to be negative about that is a mystery to me. As for praising a chef who does happen to make wonderful food in rather ideal circumstances, if wonderful food wasn’t praised where and when it is occasionally found, culinary guidelines or goals (regardless of the circumstances) would be considerably diminished.

@Anthony Souls how come you haven't noticed care and compassion for animals happens in ALL neighbourhoods? My town and region in Australia went through a flood in 2017, bushfires and drought in 2018 and 2019, covid in 2020 and 2021, then two huge floods (double the size of the 2017 one) in Feb and March 2022 that destroyed thousands of homes of the rich, poor and inbetween alike.
And guess what? People from every part of that region - rich or poor, every race, every background - were involved in rescuing their animal as well as their human neighbours. Income, background and zip code have nothing to do with the capacity of neighbours to work together to help animals or each other, especially in a crisis. And likewise, income, background and zip code does not determine if you are a credit to the human race - or what we call in Australia a dickhead loser. Your choice.

My town of Lismore and its whole region north of Sydney in Australia went through floods, drought, fire and covid and the vast majority of people of every income, background and zip code helped each other and the animals around them through those tough five years. And still are.

Thank you all for coming together and saving these kittens. I, myself, did a huge foster fail by keeping 3 of the 6 feral I tried. The other 3 were adopted out. Best decision I ever made but I'm t makes.going on a vacation a little dicey! 😅😊❤

Hearing those children react to the good fortune that the cats would be saved...that was heart melting. A testament to good parenting and character. The very best of humanity is shown in how we treat those who can do nothing for us, and these children being so joyous to help these creatures underscores they are indeed the very best humanity has to offer.

Not possible, cat's purr may induce dopamine production but chocolate mimics the hormone that is produced when you fall in love.

They are so adorable. Thank you for rescuing them. All of my cats are all rescues and Stormy is my black cat we rescued when she was about 8 weeks old. I was at work at one of our EMS stations when we heard a meow and after an hour searching in the rain we found her and cleaned her up and she is now 10 years old. The triplets are Russian Blues that someone was giving them away in front of our local stores. They were 6 weeks old and had she not found a home for them they were going to the pound which is a high kill shelter so I took all 3 and my now ex found homes for all 3 since we already had 9 cats. After several weeks I noticed that they were always together (many sibling cats don’t get along and grow apart which we expected in this case) so I cancelled their adoptions and they just turned 6 years old on April 8 and they still like to be together. Not enough room in the cat bed isn’t a problem because they will just sleep on top of one another. I don’t regret a thing.
So good on you for taking all the siblings, one can only imagine all the play and snuggles they get. Thank you for spreading love and compassion for our furry friends!
