  • Lisa Just passed her driving test in Netherlands and is in London on holiday. It's her first time driving on the left! I'll take her on a test route in Barking.

    It's so weird to watch myself like this😆
    But thank you very much for the nice experience and test/lesson, apart from the nerves I enjoyed it very much!😂

    Btw I hear myself yapping about the insurance (and my dad just watched it and explained some more about it…) as its quite difficult to explain and I just want to clarify in short, I have insurance but its on my parents ‘account’, if I pay it myself its more expensive. Its not that I don’t have it😆
    Thanks for all the lovely comments💜

      Yep its same here in the UK, your parents can have the main insurance Policy and they can add an Additional driver in the same insurance Policy.
      And since they have more experience, they most likely have NCD's and lower price premium. So adding you on won't be that bad.
      Here if you are 18-25 insurance is very expensive for a new driver. But if you are already old like 30+ and a new driver that just passed the test. The price premium is not as bad as one's aged 25 below. (i.e. a friend of mine who is 20 years of age and just passed their driving exam got a £2000 for a year's worth of insurance. Whilst someone else I know who also just passed but is 31 years old got £900 for a year, same company same premium insurance)

      Hi Lisa, I don't think you showed any nerves at all. You were smooth and calm after no more than the first minute of this video, and I would be perfectly happy to be driven by a smooth and confident driver such as you (even without dual control). Good wishes for luck in your future driving wherever. In the UK, too many drivers who, once they have passed their test, appear the have the attitude "I have passed, so now I can drive as I like to get in front", which is very bad for the rest of us! Reality only kicks in when their insurance premiums increase significantly, are refused, or they are banned from driving following a serious accident!

    doing a 2 part driving test for manoeuvres is a solid idea

    • @lisawensink6906
      @lisawensink6906 Před měsícem

      Yes it really is! It also a kind of mock test as they know you can’t drive on your own yet and afterwards they give you feedback on what you can improve for your real test!
      The only thing is, if you fail your first test you have to do your manoeuvres again in your 2nd..

    17:27 We used to have the manoeuvres reverse around a corner and turn in the road, usually engineered to be a three point turn, although sometimes the road was wide enough to u-turn. 😆
    Which make up the same basic manoeuvres Lisa mentioned.

    In Germany we do the emergency stop as well! It's also considered a manoeuvre and we have to do three manoeuvres in total. Most people feel like the emergency stop is the easiest one (me included)

    So refreshing to see Lisa not milking the steering wheel (that push-pull that's taught in the UK).
    I wonder if it's the reason her moves are slick? I really hope this push-pull will be eliminated from the UK standards soon. 😊

    • @DrivingSchoolTV
      @DrivingSchoolTV  Před 16 dny +1

      She really was slick! It’s not even a standard that needs to be taught in the test over here 🤷‍♂️

      @@DrivingSchoolTV Yes, I totally agree that it's clunky and unnecessary, and that most ppl don't use it after their exam. Maybe we should get rid of this requirement and in exchange introduce a separate test for manoeuvres (it's a really great idea from the NL) 😊
