Best Scene ever for Despicable Me was Gru dancing and Gene Kelly moving to the Song "Happy". Despicable Me always had a balance of Kiddie, Comedy, and Artistic entertainment. Great Entertainment spans Generation's.

I'm 54 and own a few minion shirts. lol But guys will openly admit that we're just big kids. I own a bunch of Marvel Legends. McFarlane. DC. Assassins Creed and even The Muppet figures. So after seeing a movie if they have "cool" toys, clothes, etc that catches my eye, I'll drop money on it. Mind you lately Disney has been saving me money lately because I refuse to support a company that hates its fans.

Pre-teen and teen girls will buy notebooks, stationary, and pens with Disney all over it. Possibly some Pixar characters too. But agree, they are mostly past the plushies phase. Not sure how lucrative stationary is compared to toys, probably nowhere close.

So basically Inside out is a chick flick and Minions is a family film. Thanks for explaining this. Does kinda make sense, Disney was always a girls brand. Let them carry on with that, they have always done that well. They suck at boys movies. Let them stay away from that.

Disney is laughing because they think they won. But it seems that other studios mainly Universal and Sony are smart that they strategically produce movies that have a lower budget and take creative risks. Sometimes these movie fails, but when they are successful, they have larger wins than Disney.
Moreover, Universal has parks and large presence with toys and merchandise. Sony has PlayStation and Anime (Crunchyroll, Aniplex*, A-1 Pictures*, Clover Pictures* *Anime production companies/holding company). I don't think Disney should be laughing here.

Hello from Argentina! I love the Minion/Dispicable Me movies! I enjoy taking my kid, but I know its for me.
I did take my son (10 y/o) to see Inside Out 2, he saw recently the first one. And started expresing more his emotions. It helped him to be honest, he has opened up. But I saw a LOT, and i mean HALF the theatre with 20 year olds. My son is 10 he wasnt around for the first one. It makes sense a lot of 20 year olds went to see how Riley is doing.
By the way I had fun, it was a nice movie.

The Box Office is dominated by kids movies. Success for a movie depends on how much females like it. Horozon was a movie that should have been male dominated, but more females went opening weekend. Men are checking out of theaters.

Neither teenagers nor 20s are pushing for DEI. Why can't we stop this constant blaming of other nobodies when we factually know DEI comes from the WEF and is about ESG scores and pushed TOP to BOTTOM by the elite. No regular person asks for this nonsense and they don't care if anyone wants it

Why should anyone take advice from people who thought Inside Out 2 would "under perform"? It's a sequel of one of the most beloved original stories and you thought it would flounder? Might as well have said Shrek 2 would bomb or the second Toy Story. I will make a prediction that will be better then yours. Moana 2 will perform well at the box office and that is nowhere near as popular as Inside Out 2.

This is a movie for toddlers,. Or do I belong in an asylum ? Why are we celebrating the death of cinema as a cultural phenomenon ? 120 years of tradition down the drain, but hoeraaaayyyyy, we have another generic themepark/toy ad. I just don't get it. I don't celebrate the death of cinema.

    • @Fureiji88
      @Fureiji88 Před 19 dny

Sure you do. You're here right now. If you're idea of cinema being dead is because of Hollywood then you don't appreciate cinema especially because cinema exists everywhere outside of Hollywood

@@Fureiji88 Fair is fair. Indeed grown ups moved to series years ago. But still.... In the 1990s cinema was 4 everyone. Even adults. You would take your girl or go with the mates and there was always something worth watching (often good, sometimes less so but always fun). Loved the sheer diversity (of genres). Beautiful tradition. Now extinct just like the dodo. Now it's just a silly predictable kindergarten 24/7 all the time. A ball box.

What is cinema. What is the problem.
      1. The Authors Voice in the creative process.
      2. The Ature Voice.
      3. A clear show runner without the film by committee.
      4. No Corporate formula but an authors formula is allowed.
      5. Must be a self contained self sufficient standalone movie. Not apart of a cinematic universe from corporate overlords. Sequels are allowed.
      6. Not pre connected to a theme park planning process. Parks come after.
      7. Not tilting movies away as an artform and placing products before creative judgment. Examples of this are executives seeing the joker movie and then telling the director "you realize that we sell joker pajamas", implying that the pajamas are more important than the film let alone the art.
      8. It ok to go to the theme park but sometimes it nice to go to the museum. This same premise works for theaters and films. The argument stands for all art forms and mediums.
      9. Each is its own category with its own conventions and effects. If you have one industry dominate the others there is something lost. You can still have cross overs. Its just when the craftsmanship and conventions are perverted by other industries instead of being inspired and creative.
      10. There is a communal aspect to cinema.
      11. The Content paradox. Film, movies, TV shows, sports, news, live streaming, family videos, and radio. Are all limped together as content and people are also bucking the Art, medium, event, experience, and craftsmanship by way of saying that there are no real good standards for quality or that standards differ by medium and industry.
      12. Brand loyalty and Corporate parenthood out weigh Creativity and Authorship. This goes way beyond the concept of the franchise because you can have a franchise have its own authorship, voice and be a stand alone.
      13. In other words. Content can be viewed in any number of ways and is defined less by its characters, story, world, medium, art, industry, sorce material and presentation material (cinema and TV) then by its brand (marvel) and corporate identity Disney as well as its ability to get 100s of millions of people talking about it.
      14. To see the story as content is to view storytelling for what the company gets out of the deal financially instead of what the medium can achieve by itself. To value them to what the products provide to the companies that serve them to us. Making it more transactional and less artistic.
      15. This further divorces the audience from the authors intention and voice. Driving a wage between the conversations and craftsmanship vs the brand and corporatism. This does not divorce the marriage of art and commerce.
      16. The pretisapts of Artistic expression vs the pasive consumption on consumerism.
      17. There is an importance to visual literacy and cinematic diet.
      Examples of non cinema craftsmanship.
      1. For example cinema has lenses and is viewed in a big dark theater. But theme parks are just amusement parks with themes and characters woven in the attractions. Circus and carnivals have animals and people perform but zoos just display. What would happen if the circuses were run by the zoos. There would be no shows or vary minimized shows, because they need to save money to get more animals at the expense of the circuses.
      2. What happens when Traditional theater starts to make all the movies and decides to eliminate the camera and optics as much as possible for every movie in the industry.
      3. What happens when the classic painters run the graphic novels and printing presses. Would sketch work and other styles of hand drawn work be eliminated.
      4. What if bookstores ran Hollywood and decided to only do narrations or VO dialogs. Only useing the image to tell the story at first but then eventually, thay eliminate the images and produce new talkies with a blank screen.
