    Today we have a Hyundai Elantra that's been rear ended in a collision. I'll be replacing the trunk lid, rear body panel and rear bumper cover. I'll take you through the whole autobody collision process of the repair.

    Just out of curiosity could you not have fixed the original panel or was it too much work

    • @AUTOBODYTECH
      @AUTOBODYTECH  Před rokem +8

      Not that it was too much work, but when the metal is kinked, you need to replace it.
      It wouldn't crumple the same again and could potentially be dangerous in a future accident

      @ajlanda9661 if you have a spot welder, typically, they should take about 7 to 8 hours and maybe an hour or two for assembly.
      The total job average pays the bodyman about 15 - 20 hours for something like this

    Nice work man very professional. What is the black box you removed at 1:37 at the corner of the bumper? Never seen that part before on a car.

      @@AUTOBODYTECH Oh I see, probably radar parts in that blind spot detection. Good thing they were not damaged, probably expensive!

      yes quite expensive! after repairs they would need to be re calibrated as well.@@practicalguy973

    Great job! Curious is there a way to remove the rear upper deck
    lid trim For Hyundai Elantra 21-22 Hyundai to install the part 87390AA000?

    • @AUTOBODYTECH
      @AUTOBODYTECH  Před 5 měsíci

      It looks like you're referring to a deck lid spoiler? If yes, you would likely have to access the underside of the deck lid. More than likely, there are screws and clips attaching it to the deck lid

      @user-np8jn3xs9g Před 5 měsíci

      I did remove all screws but there still seems to be something else holding it (its not a spoiler, the part no. shows it as part of the trunk hood). Will try another method but am hoping not to break the glass since it's right next to it on this model SEL.

    Do you have to add panel bond in between the new panel and old one? Where you will be welding?

    • @AUTOBODYTECH
      @AUTOBODYTECH  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Depends on the procedure. Every make and model is different. On this particular one, no.
