The most important part of this expansion was adding 5-6 players
You had me at “it gets rid of the tree”
😄
This one actually looks the most interesting of the three. It looks more like it enhances the main game, while the others look like a side quest.
Hmm, the player powers alone make me tempted to consider getting this.. 🤔
I think the biggest thing you missed is it's targeted at people who would like more than 4 players since it expands the game to 1-6 from 1-4
I think this expansion has a lot of interesting things that help improve some choices of the original base game. Adding in the market, special critter powers for each group of meeples, the extra special event, and the garlands make this version a must have in my opinion.
The biggest thing about this expansion (to me) is that it adds 5-6 players. And I don’t think that was even mentioned in this review. I find that strange and unfortunate.
Holy crap. I didn't even realise that! I brushed it off since he said it was for the other expansions or something.
1:15 It says that it’s 1-6 players at the bottom, but yeah he sould have mentioned it.
🙄🙄
I thought the same thing. Adding more players to a great games makes this worthwhile to me.
What a big oversight for a reviewer.
Thanks Zee. I came back to this review after the price for this expansion drop to $25 on Amazon. Since I spent that much on expansion card packs (3 total), I figured it was now worth it if for nothing else, to get the extra power cards and the different special event cards. Thanks for your clear and comprehensive review. :)
Nice! Looks good. I can't wait for my copy of the expansions!
I got the base game and this extension only. First, I only play solo and second, I wanted to learn the base game and add a little extra after enough playthrough. I did the job. I'll probably get spinecrest next.
Thank you for the video, always clean and precise.
Hi Zee, very professional review as always, I enjoy a lot your reviews and am looking for them for any game I'm hesitating to buy. I just purchased Spirecrest and Bellfaire, I just couldn't resist... I LOVE Everdell and I cannot wait a year for the Complete edition... I tried all the content on TTS and I must say I agree with your feedback, but the player powers are so game changing while not changing the nature of the base game. I am looking forward to your review of the upcoming expansions !
Can you explain why you would get it last? If you love the original game but just want a slight variant, wouldn’t this be a great option?
Useful review thank you!
Great video!
5 and 6 player option also! Big win there!!
What are the opinions on the upcoming Everdell Kickstarter?
Hey Zee what about the 5th and 6th players?
Curious about that too
As a general rule of thumb, if an expansion is adding players to a board game, it is probably pushing it past what I would call the recommended level. There are a couple of exceptions, but generally, I would never play any game with more players than the base game allows, unless everyone is super familiar with the game and all die-hard fans. More players usually mean a longer game with more downtime so it feels like it drags on.
I typically really like the content coming out of dicetower but the only thing I really wanted out of this video was to understand how it adds more players. This didn't even mention that aspect.
graphic says 9/10, Zee says 7/10. I'm assuming 7 is the correct rating since he says he likes it the least of the expansions and I believe he rated Pearlbrook at 8...
Other than missing the addition of 5 - 6 players there’s an important rule with player powers. You get a choice of whether or not you actually use one of the two you get to choose from at the start. If you choose to use one then you lose your spring worker for the entire game (keeps it more balanced). Last time I played I opted not to because my two choices weren’t worth it and the other players were reeeeally missing that worker. Everyone still filled their cities and the scores were still fairly balanced. I won but not sure if it’s because of that, I have played it more than them.
For us would be worth it for the 5-6 player expansion (I have too many kids 😃)...

@@lexodius love it!
I was confused because the graphic said 9 out of 10, but you stated it was a 7 out of 10.
Didn't you hear? 9 is the new 7.
Seal of approval never lies!
He rated Spirecrest a 9, so maybe the graphic got confused.
It's nice with SPirecrest, which has only negative effects. So you can balance it out with Bellfaire
Whaaat? I bought the expansion just for the player boards! They are immersive and awesome! (I don't want to mix different-language versions...I own the German versions of Everdell and Pearlbrook, but all other expansions are available in English only)...player powers are unbalanced and not fair, just like the adornments in Pearlbrook. The market is too good in my opinion (compared to basic locations almost nobody uses when forest locations and the market offer better locations).
The only expansion I don’t own yet (never buying mistwood). Will be getting it soon. Easy to incorporate into ash game we play.
Strange to hear him talk about spirecrest as a better expansion, yet spirecrest doesn’t have a dice tower review
Yeah, its so crazy to think they play games with out reviewing them... sarcasm
Spirecrest review went live today if you wanna check it out :)
Disgracefully expensive for what you get, not just in terms of lack of physical components but also in terms of lack of real thought, effort or inspiration behind the expansion. Should be half the price.
My reason for not backing it

I agree about that extra wasted cardboard. On the other hand excited about the special critter powers for more variety. The added market is also intriguing too. I also like that he mentioned the special events are much more interesting now. Likely a bit more accessible as the others most of the time you look for the combos and most of the time it isn't available.
Why would you play this at 6? It's too much down time. I'd play a different game, a game designed for 6
