    Nice! Put a 3x magnifier behind it. Also u do have bdc with 16”-14” barrels with in the chevron out to 400. With ur barrel might be more of a 50/200/300 good vid as always! -Dimitri

      Primary Arms, LLC might want to rethink that if someone has a polygonal rifled barrel. I own a 16” (1:8) and 11.5” (1:7) polygonal rifled barrel from Columbia River Arms. Using a V3 Magnetospeed chrono my 16” is getting 2730 and 11.5” is getting 2500 with my favorite over the counter 77 grain OTM rounds. It’s even confusing my StrelokPro with all applicable info entered, my 11.5” is hitting 2” higher @200 yards than what the ballistic app is telling me where it should hit using the PA 1-6x ACSS Raptor. I’m thinking the polygonal barrels properties maintains most if not all of the bullets potential BC because it doesn’t dig into the bullet to get it to rifle.

    I run the acss TA44 on my BCM 11.5 sbr as well, with wolf 62gr and ~5mph crosswind was getting 50/50 hits at an 18x36” steel at 500M when I sighted in. Went up to about 70% using mk262. Hands down the piece of kit that has increased my efficiency the most out of the box.
    Considering this optic for backup rifle build or 300BO upper. SBR was my first and only AR and the 1-1.5x/acss combo has worked better for me than anything else, including LPVOs. I appreciate the video on this optic.

    When our house in the city sells, I think I'm replacing all my optics with primary arms stuff. All those reticles in ffp that dimitri has designed make too much sense to me. As much as I shoot, all my optics should be ffp. Any how's great video and thumbs up

  • @fredfellwock

    I got one. Its daylight brightness was a zero! Called PA, said it was a known issue, sent me a replacement (super quick). The replacement was better, but only slightly. Maxed out (11) it changes the reticle from pitch black to kind of red grey. Its good for indoors or low light. Illumination is not good for daylight use in most conditions. I don’t even bother with it outside, I just run it unpowered.

Been looking for a review of the this optic with an American Defense AD-T1 particularly in terms of ease and quick target acquisition between their PA OEM riser and AD-T1 (Absolute or Lower third). from what I gather PA 1X Cyclops is inherently higher so mounting them on AD-T1-10 (absolute) will give it the height of lower 1/3. • @Highjak86
      @Highjak86  Před 5 lety

      Hey Tophers! With iron sights you have multiple planes to focus on and on top of that you have to align those planes with your target. With a red dot or prism there is none of that - you have one plane of focus which frees you up a bit to focus on other more important things as well as generally making your time to get on target and follow-up shots faster.

    I’ve watched most of the videos on CZcams about this particular sight. Seems no one really runs an A2 style front sight post with this optic. I do have an A frame front sight post on my 16” AR. Would you say the front sight is a hinderance when looking through the sight? Or does it blur out enough that it isn’t much of an issue. This is probably going to be the optic I buy soon. Completely different animals. The 300BLK variable has to have such a large chevron because it doesn't use the horseshoe. The chevron is both the primary point of aim and frame of reference for shooting up close. Nothing wrong with this and personal pref plays a part when it comes to reticles, but I find nothing wrong with the TA44 and Cyclops reticles for their purpose.

    Question: I have the same length as pistol as you do... Is it legal to use that BCM shorty on an AR pistol?
    The laws are a bit confusing surrounding AOW legths of 26"+ but a barrel peas than 16".

    • @Highjak86
      @Highjak86  Před 5 lety +1

      My understanding: If the OAL of that firearm is >26" then yes you can run a vert grip on a pistol without filling out the AOW paperwork/fee. A "Pistol" >26" that has a vert grip then becomes a "Firearm". As always, check your local and state regs regarding legalities on all of this including the carry of such firearms even with the proper license/permit.

    I'm pretty sure Primary Arms specifies zero distances per caliber to make the reticle effective; i.e. 50/200 for 5.56

      If you'd like to use the bottom of the chevron at a specific distance then yes, but if not then it doesn't matter obviously.

      Yeah if you don't zero per the manual the reticle won't be usable the way it was meant to be.

    Regarding mounts, the ADM CASV will give an absolute cowitness

      David B could you please tell me more about this? I love an absolute co-witness so have been using the factory mount, but would love quick detach capability.

      It's basically a mount used in combination with a CASV Handguard/Riser for an AR15. It's a bit shorter than an absolute cowitness mount. It's also the same height as the Cyclops factory mount.
