Thank you for your video. This helped me very much in starting to make lids. Also, your flower gardens are lovely.

Nice video - thanks for sharing. I went through a phase after first being introduced to chattering where I chattered the bejesus out of every thing I threw - bowls, plates, cups, canisters, inside the pot, outside the pot, everywhere. I'd chatter them plain, coat with colored slip and chatter, chatter then slip inlay...I went overboard with it. I think I was fascinated by the sound. I had half a dozen different handmade chattering tools - square edge, round edge, triangle point, stiff heavy tools, light springy tools....One day my instructor walked by as I was trying to hold two different chattering tools at once, and said it was time to knock off the chattering for a while and explore other techniques.

Hi Vaughn, great videos! I'm 66 years old and threw my first pots in 1972. I'm "Old school" like you and it makes me appreciate you and your pots very much!
I live in Southern California in the Inland Empire, just an hour or so away from Laguna Clay Co. And Aardvark in Santa Ana.
A long time ago, when Laguna Clay aco was located in Santa Ana, I was their first and only employee and I made tons of clay every day, then hopped on the forklift and moved the full pallet (a ton) of clay away then brought an empty one in its place. The most clay I made in a day is a very good record that few have matched:. 11 tons in a day, yay!
My name is Penny Palmer and please keep making more great videos as I always enjoy hanging out with you my friend! Thank you for giving and sharing so much of yourself with us! God bless you & yours always.

Thanks a bundle Penny, 11 tons in a day. 😮. You have to be half amazonian. When I think back over the years I used to work 16 hours a day making pots, then rush out the door drive 8 hours to a craft fair, set up a booth which took 4 hours and then the customers would ask me why I looked so tired. It was such a routine and I did it for decades. I look back at those years as a long nightmare. That is when I was stuck in a rut, no time to think outside the box, no time to be creative, just a constant prolonged rush from show to show. That is why I am trying to help those in similar situations, or beginners, get ideas and tips from 50 years of potting experience. Help as many as I can avoid my mistakes.

Thank You very much, to show these examples of canistors with lids! I am so happy to see a a variations of canisters and the pattern examples. It is so simple with a wood tool or stamps. Just the fear not to ruin the thrown piece, holds me back. You had mentioned something of celtic ones. I am looking forward, than You perhabs will send out this clip! Enjoy the beautiful garden of Yours and August! The Leo reached the 100th!) Unbelievable and still going!

Thanks for showing the lid-making and measuring, looks so simple, and maybe I'll be able to get a lid to fit if I give it a try.

Hi there 😊 I have a hand made pottery punch bowl set from 1959 made by the artist June Eyler. I have spent the past few years trying to find out who she is and trying to find out anything I can. I live in Michigan and I suspect the origin of the pottery is from here but may not be. Has anybody ever heard of June Eyler? Thanks so much, Ashley.
