Fratton Park is the most intimidating ground I've been too.
They sing even when they are losing which this season has not been that often tbf.
When they have you under the pump it makes you look around and realise that all sides and stands are singing.
Play Up Pompey, simple song but don't you just know it when that's blasting you in your face

The night against AC Milan at fratton park was something else.
Think you’re right when you mentioned fans that coming from less affluent areas being more passionate. The club means more to us, it’s an escape the struggles of life.

Well done boys - brilliantly constructed video on a hot and divisive topic. Everyone will have their thoughts and will have seen sets of fanbases on different days which is the beauty of footballing opinions. Appreciate the ‘tier of their own’ comments - some great shouts in here for some more unsung fanbases too!🙌🏻

With Wanderers as well, I know its not just numbers, but the fact we get 20,000+ week in week out, and unlike Pompey and Derby, we have the likes of Man United, Man City, Liverpool, Everton, Blackburn, Burnley, Preston all within a 40 minute drive away is insane.

People like to deride Wigan's fanbase but, in terms of sheer numbers, our away attendances are consistently top five in League One. Averaging over 1300 away this season which is fourth behind only Bolton, Portsmouth and Derby. Pretty vocal too.
Home numbers are top seven or eight in the division every year and only look/sound worse because of an open-ended, oversized stadium.
Not bad for one of the most geographically-disadvantaged clubs in English football (share a town with one of the world's most successful rugby clubs and compete for fans with City, United, Liverpool, Everton plus another six or seven well established PL/EFL clubs in the area).

    • @Northerner1966

You took 136 to Exeter in the FA Cup. Your away support is poor. 700 at Northampton on a Saturday is shocking.
      300 at Oxford recently.
Your a rugby town,as Northampton are.

    • @char6364
      @char6364 Před 3 měsíci

@@Northerner1966 You neglect to mention we'd played Exeter away in the league only two weeks prior.

Top five in the league away from home yet again. Nothing poor about it.

As for Orient the board since they took over the club when it went down to the National League they have done alot to add a younger fanbase to the club despite having to compete with that claret and blue rabble move onto our patch with their discounted Premiership tickets which has led to a much better home atmosphere, despite living in Skegness I the livestream of the game as I plan on going to our game at Derby then at home to Fleetwood which means overnight stays adding to the expense of travel. I think you are absolutely right about Fratton Park but you guys are young. I have been supporting Pompey for 50 years and back in the day we used to have crowds upwards of 30,000 and you should have seen the noise at FP then. I have been in Canada for a good 30 years now and most people here talk about Liverpools, Man Uniteds etc and I always tell them, if you want to go to England and watch a football match, go to Portsmouth 1st and see what that atmosphere is like and then go to your Uniteds and Liverpools and compare. Portsmouth also have to travel alot further than your Boltons and Derbys and look at last week against Peterborough. I remember going to Liverpool on a winter Tuesday evening and I think we were in Div 4 at the time and we took 15,000 supporters up there. Look that one up. PUP

I was at that game when we took 15000+ to Anfield on a freezing Tuesday. All through the early 80s we swamped grounds. 8000 at Huddersfield, 10000+ at Plymouth, 6000 at Maine Road. 32000 to watch us play Middlesbrough in the cup when we were div 4. Island people are just built differently. 😂 Cambridge and Fleetwood never shut up either, which I like.

@@Lunapodthe1st Don't forget the 36,000 at home to Oxford one Christmas when Alan Biley scored 2 late goals to give us the win. What an atmosphere that night was. I went to Anfield that cold Tuesday night without a ticket. I begged my dad to drive me up there as there were no spaces on buses, coaches or trains left. I got into the Kemlyn Road stand and bribed my way in. So technically there could have been more than 15,000 Pompey supporters because i'm sure others were in the same predicament as me. Another video basically re-enforcing the sensationalist nonsense that big clubs are "better" than small clubs.

Considering my club are the smallest in this division I don’t get how the point stands, of course you have your look at the amount of fans, but also the the number and see how good they are, unfortunately we can’t put everyone in elite fans, for me anyone who makes the effort to watch there team, deserves a big pat on the back.

@@CodsVlogs It's not meant to knock your channel - I have been following for a while (Wycombe fan) and love it - I feel like you keep growing and improving your quality, and it has been a delight to see. One of the reasons it would be a shame for Fleetwood to be relegated is losing your L1 content!
As far as the criticism, I just mean that I have seen a lot of these tier "best fans" videos, and it is always the fans of the smaller clubs who end up in lower tiers. Perhaps it is just League One where it is obvious, as it is the division with the biggest divide of big v small clubs, but when you have labels such as 'Sorry, Who?' and 'They Could Have Come In A Taxi' it adds fuel to the fire of small clubs being 'tinpot' and unworthy. Perhaps I am just a little touchy over Sunderland, then Derby, now Reading all insulting my club constantly when they have to be in the same division.
Either way, your channel is fantastic, and you have always been very fair and measured in your vlogs and attitude when we have played each other.

No because some top teams in this league don't always sell out games

Thing is mate Wycombe unfortunately don’t have good fans, poor at home and poor away, some teams I would change around but overall that’s pretty bang on, Portsmouth bang on the best in the league by far, even when we battered them 4-0 there fans were still class
