    Hey bro, question is not related to the video however I wanted some feedback on the braking capability on this bike. I've previously owned an cbr650f and then an 899 Panigale all having abs and now I'm in the market for one of these beauties now. Given the fact that I've never owned a bike without abs before should I be concerned about not having it here? I consider myself a seasoned rider with a decent amount of experience handling big bikes just for the sake of your reference....Cheers...!!

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  Před 3 lety +2

      I’ve only had the privilege to ride a newer bike with ABS twice in my ten years of riding. Maybe I’m a bit old school but I actually prefer the raw feel of the older bikes most of the time. Maybe I’m a little bias and just haven’t had enough seat time on the newer machines but these bikes handle so well already I don’t really think you need or use the ABS 99% of the time. In a panic stop situation I’ve locked up the rear wheel before and the bike is still pretty planted. With all the weight on the front wheel I find an experienced rider still has plenty of control as the back wheel doesn’t do a whole lot and is more or less just along for the ride.
      I think I would be doing a stoppie with the back wheel in the air before loosing traction on a weighted front tire.
      Poor weather and rain it may be nice to have for a newer rider but if you are experienced and ride to the condition it’s still not bad.
      I do like the traction control as it seems to work pretty smooth and help put the power down but in conclusion I wouldn’t let ABS be the deciding factor for me buying a bike or not.

    • @aaronsparrow4895
      @aaronsparrow4895 Před 2 lety

      Always rode non abs bikes.. had a 17 plate cbr650f for work.. the abs is terrible I'd be worried having the abs on that more so than having a bike without it.. doesn't like to brake at all on bumpy surfaces. And you can't apply the brakes any kind of hard without it kicking in. Wasn't an issue either.. we had a fleet of 15 to 17 plates

    Hey man great vid ! Thank you for it !
    One questions regarding the R1, I'm currently looking at this bike 2009-2012 & R6 2006-2014,
    And I've heard quite a few times that it heats up a lot, especially in city.
    Would you say R1 so hot that it's uncomfortable to ride sometimes ?
    And if so you is the difference between it and R6 significant ?(should I get r6 instead?)

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  Před rokem

      The Crossplane r1 does run hotter than the r6 but not enough to where I would let that alone be the deciding factor on what bike you choose. It doesn’t bother me at all but I feel like some people are just picky. Both of these bikes will still run hot in start and stop traffic. They are both race bikes at the end of the day!
      I would say choose the bike based on the power / weight / handling / looks. Not on the heat that they make.

      But I just love the sound of the crossplane R1, it's larger size (I'm 6 1), and the way R1 looks with it's dual exhaust & fascia over the R6

      People will say you need to reflash the ecu or get a fuel commander when removing the cat to keep fuel trims safe but honestly I’ve put over 10,000 kms on bikes without a tune and ones with a tune and they both run flawlessly without having any issues. The flat plane crank sound is so much freaking smoother. I don't like the cross plane sound at all. Which is kind of weird, because I love the sound of a 3 cylinder -- which is a sort of tri-plane crank -- and it still sounds much much smother than a 4 cylinder cross plane crank. But amazingly, it accomplishes this with one less cylinder and yet, it still only sounds slightly less smooth than a 4 cylinder flat plane crank.

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  Před 2 lety

      The flat plate is definitely a smoother more efficient running engine at lower rpm. A lot better fuel mileage too. The Crossplane doesn’t really smooth out until it’s over 8000rpm if not more.

    • @ramos5875
      @ramos5875 Před 2 lety

      popping is a lean condition. you altered the stoichiometric ratio (air-fuel ratio) by removing the cat. your fuel map for your ECU was designed to work just right with the cat in place, so without it you’ll need to add fuel to the ratio with a power commander. the goal air fuel ratio is around 14.7 :1

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  Před 2 lety

    I got a 2011 R1 with Two brothers slip on. What would you suggest, a cat delete or a full system?
    Also planning to tune it but the margins of tuning are pretty low in old gen, so how did the power commander hold up?

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  Před 3 lety

      The full system would be a sweet set up if you have the money but I know they are not cheap. If you are going for value I would say start with the cat delete. The stock header seems to flow ok for what it is.
      You won’t really get alot of performance out of the power commander 5, it’s more for keeping the bikes fuel trims safe. I’ve played around with the fuel maps a little bit but didn’t really notice a big change power wise when riding.
      The PC5 is going to be your easiest and best value when it comes to the tuning side. My bike does run perfect using it.
      If you are trying to squeeze every last horse power out of the bike I would say do the full exhaust and look into other tuning options for adjusting ignition timing.
      If you can advance ignition timing that’s where you will see big power gains.

    Are you considering a tune or flash?

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  Před 3 lety +1

      I have a power commander 5 installed right now. I know that’s definitely not as good as a real tune but it’s better than nothing for now.
      It would be nice to get a proper tune where you can adjust ignition timing as well because that’s where you would actually gain power.
      Only adjusting fuel trims with the PC5 is basically just for safety and no major power gains.

      @@JT2JZ so are you getting a tune in the future?

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  Před 3 lety +2

      If my R1 was a 2015 or newer I would definitely get a dyno tune because they have a lot more freedom reading and modifying the stock ecu. I think options for real tunes are a lot more limited for the older generation bikes like mine unfortunately.
      I will probably just enjoy the bike how it’s currently set up and maybe play around with the power commander 5 setting a little bit more.

    • @chriskluzinski2882
      @chriskluzinski2882 Před 3 lety +1

      Definitely consider ecu flash it's the best $200 mod for these bikes it removes all the restrictions it really wakes these bikes up look up xplaner1customtuning.com
      Nick Marino is the best in the business as far as ecu tuning goes

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for sharing that link!
      So it looks like you buy the datalink harness in order to unlock / flash the factory ecu? Then a tuner has complete control over the factory ecu similar to the newer 2015+ body style bikes?

      2012-2014 will be the same sexy body style with the updated face lift from previous years (2009-2011).
      I would say buy what ever you can find a good deal on between the good years 12-14.
      I don’t really think they made any changes to the bike over the last few years of this body’s style. For me the hardest part was finding one black in colour. Seems like the majority of them are bright or multi colour schemes.
