got it for 170k free xp. it's quite capable since it ez dictates when to start or finish the fight. However at times i find myself often dipping into gold because of low ammo count

Marked IS-3A recently and i have to say its actually a realy strong tank but the gun is so derpy i was about to quit marking it xD
I agree. Unless you're up in their faces - that gun will frustrate you anywhere past 100 meters.
It is better if you have bond equipment . I have a build with bond vents, optics and vstab, and one with bond vents and vstabs, and that experimental thinggie , that is half vstab, half GLD.
Derpy tank + shitty apcr standard makes gun sometimes horrible

I love the IS3A too ... the engine is a bit weak ... but the gun can work

Team work is important in this game, it would be good if the majority of the players were aware of this because they still do stupid things, for example all the heavy tanks go to one place and die, or the heavy tanks don't go on a rampage, but the most important thing is the proper distribution the main problem and I experience this from tier 8 and up! It would be nice if this information somehow reached them!

It one of the most expensive tank in the game felt ripped off when I bough it and then came the defender...

I prefer IS 3A over Skoda T56 imo
Top tier against tier 6 and 7 is pretty good, but in tier 9-10 you meet horrible gun handling and shitty apcr standard whem you cant even pen 3/3 lowe plate
It's a support tank, that is it's problem ... an amazing ambush tank.
Otherwise it's awesome tank, love it ... was totally worth it.
I only carry standard ammo and 3 rounds of HE on mine. :)
The gun hyandling of this tank makes it unplayable. Though I once managed a tank sniper on malinovka. *shrugs*

The gun almost feel the same with the defender gun. A bit better. But oh dude.. The miss, bounce (cuz miss) horrible.
OOOH, in my Tortoise, I love meeting IS3 A. They are like free kills. They have to switch to gold and are dead before they get reloaded.

When i play Tortoise? I mostly get killed in 10-30 seconds, from shots only to the front, even if half those hitting are lower tiers and noone shooting gold...
And when playing AGAINST the Tortoise, at least once in a while, i get 5/5 shots to pen from the front regardless what tank i'm playing.
Its armor is just weird, sometimes it can hold up to thousands upon thousands of damage even from the side or REAR. Other times it leaks shots from the front like it was Swizz cheese made from paper.
It's one of my most epic failed tanks ever. No matter how i play it, most times it just dies. And when it doesn't, it's rarely because of anything i did. And i have an average damage per match at a pathetic 1100s...

It's absolutely dreadfully bad yes. It's less than all but one of my tier EIGHT TDs, and it would probably be worse than all if i had played the Charioteer more.
And it's less than ALL my tier 9 TDs, MUCH less in several cases.
Seriously, it's even less than the Jagdtiger and i really do NOT like that one.
Even worse, my TOPSCORE in damage with the Tortoise is a mere 2.7k dmg.
Compare that to 3.5k for above unliked Jagdtiger, 4.8k for Obj 704, 3.8k for Obj 263, 5.8k for T95, 3.8k for T30, 4.2k for Foch, 5k for Strv-103-0...
And you should have a hint of how sucktastic it is for me.

I love this tank, in my opinion is way more fun than skoda t56, and even 3 marked the thing, I don't find the gun being that unreliable, I mean, its just another russian tank after all
