  • This video shows what's in the box, assembles the trimmer, and uses it to tackle the edging of a Kurapia lawn.
    It covers loading the trimmer line and adjusting the trimmer head for edging.
    Finally it evaluated the overall performance of the trimmer.
    At the end, a trick to extend the line is discussed.

    I have this model. The line automatically feeds about 0.25" each time you turn it on. I just turn it on and off 4 or 5 times to get more line when it's low. So, you don't have to open the lid to feed it out manually.

      That's true, but it's much less convenient than the line feeding system on my old weed whacker where you just had to bump the bottom of it on the ground and it would feed more. You have let it stop all the way to get it to feed the next bit of line after you turn it back on, which to me is very annoying.

    Super helpful! I was stumped with putting mine together, but would NEVER have known what the wheel does and the guide and the angling head of the trimmer!!! Nothing about those in the instruction manual. Thank you thank you!!!!!!

    Great demo of the quick setup and ease of use! Wish some of your voice didn't get muffled. This was exactly what I needed for the same model. Thank you

      You're welcome! I have another video coming about soon about trimmer line for that model. The line that comes with it isn't very good.

    More clear direction please. How to change the line, flip the head, align it using the wheel and using it w/out the wheel. Yes, some of us are looking for that much instruction. Thanks!

      Thanks for the suggestion! I'll work on a follow up video.
      I do show how to change the line in another video where I test a new trimmer line.

    The manual feed button is on the back of the string housing on my model

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  Před 2 lety +1

      Interesting! The only button on the back of mine is one that you use to rotate the head. On my old Black & Decker string trimmer, you could bump the lower part of the string housing (the part you remove to replace the string) to manually advance the string. With the Greenworks, you have to stop the rotation of the trimmer, then start it up again which causes a couple of inches of string to come out. I find it very annoying and I wouldn't buy this trimmer again.

    Thanks for the video! They omitted the handle assembly & is the most frustrating & incorrect thing. I honestly think it's built incorrectly, as other people have struggled with it as well & have it assembled differently each time.

      You're welcome! It's not the greatest trimmer, but fortunately I don't have that much to do each year (just some edging of the lawn and Kurapia every month or so).

    What is the spelling of the ground cover you are edging? Thanks

  • @brilama
    @brilama Před 2 lety +1

    Mine breaks the string about every 5 feet of trimming and I have to manually take off the cap and pull the string through. Not sure if it is the unit or me causing the issue but I wouldn't buy it again. Their electric mower works fine.

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  Před 2 lety +1

      The string that comes with it is really bad. Here's a video where I test a replacement version:
      czcams.com/video/76EGeg5Eqj0/video.html
      That one works better, but the feeding mechanism on this trimmer doesn't work well.
      At least the better line keeps a stub sticking out, so if you press the throttle and release and wait for it to stop, the trimmer will feed out 2" of line.
      I don't use it that much (once every month or so for about 15 mintues) so I don't want to buy another brand. I'll just keep struggling with this one since it eventually gets the job done.
      I agree the mower is good. Here's a video where I test it out on Kurapia:
      czcams.com/video/5j1CXWsZ5sA/video.html
      I also have a 2 part video coming out about how to change the mower blade and a review after a few years of use of the mower.

      Yes. I wouldn't buy it again. I'm still limping along with it since I don't have that much trimming to do and I don't need to do any weed eating anymore.

    Hi, Beta! Some (I hope helpful) feedback. It seems you're using a GoPro mounted on your head or high on your chest. So when you were saying things like, "If you do [X], it does this," your camera did NOT show what you were referring to. Please try having someone else hold the camera so it will always be focused on what you're wanting to show the viewers. Second point is that your voice was muffled much of the time, especially in the last part of the video. Perhaps you were speaking with your mask on? Someone else commented on this and you suggested they keep the CC on. I had mine on the entire time, but that didn't help much. Please speak clearly and without a mask. Third point is that the music was incredibly annoying! Just omit that please! Thanks. I look forward to seeing improved quality of your videos. If they don't improve, I'm afraid I won't be able to waste my time on them. 😉
