    Forget about sigma or viltrox. I want your dog.

    Good info! Does the Viltrox's linear focus (by wire) have hard stops at near & far focus? (I'm wondering if it could be profiled by DJI's LiDAR/3d focus). Thanks

    I already have the Sigma 16mm for my Sony FX30. The Sigma translates to 24mm full frame equiv, and the Viltrox translates to about 20mm full frame. That extra 4mm is useful for a wider view. At the moment, I don't have a real need for the Viltrox though it is a possible choice for a future project.

    I really wanna work with one of that lenses however I am using now a canon sl2 is there any adapter that I could use them in my camera body?

      Unfortunately not, mirrorless lenses are designed to sit closer to the sensor than DSLR
      You can adapt dSLR lenses onto a mirrorless camera but you can't adapt mirrorless lenses onto a dslr

    Great video, thanks. Does the Viltrox maintain its edge in corner sharpness at F4? Also, is the Viltrox distortion corrected in camera? TIA.

      Especially interested in in-camera distortion correction for video.

    I like 16/35/85 on FF, 13 on apsc is not 16 on FF but its with AF, and as I am eos M user feeling sad we do not have Viltrox option. I am happy 56 mm Viltrox user. And if i will ever move to FF looks like I need to skip canon as they will not have 3rd party lenses. But in general I like apsc format much more than FF for compact use.

    I just got my viltrox 13mm for sony but i feel the focus motor make’s quite a lot of noise… If it’s true or is it just my copy of the lens?

    • @Eyeofkamau
      @Eyeofkamau Před rokem +2

      That’s viltrox, their lenses are always loud

    I’m considering one of these lenses for my Nikon Z50, since I’d like to find something fast but with a slightly wider field of view than my DX 24mm f1.7. Both seem like decent choices but wondering if the Sigma’s higher price point is justified

    Thank you for noticing how "the sigma's focusing speed will vary depending on how quickly you turn the ring". This is also called "acceleration" and it's infuriatingly annoying. It's a little but important detail that many reviewers forget to mention.

    I need to point out for future videos that without you zooming in it's hard to see any sharpness difference.

    The Viltrox is more appealing to me as I have the Fujifilm 16mm f/1.4 already and my Viltrox filled in a nice gap. It is a nice 19.5mm FF f/2.1 lens version

    • @manydan1209
      @manydan1209 Před 11 měsíci

      The f stop number doesn't change. At least that's what i read on Quora. So F1.4 remains F1.4 on a full frame. I sure hope that's the case!

    • @jeremyg9305
      @jeremyg9305 Před 7 měsíci

      @@manydan1209it does not change in terms of light, so they are probably comparing the bokeh/Depth of field qualities of the lens, if considered a 19.5mm lens, the bokeh would be similar to an f2.1 on a FF when shooting from the same distance and angle to the subject.

    hey man! sigma is 433 usd while viltrox is 567 usd in my country! Do you think viltrox worth paying extra? I am planning to use for talking head studio record! Thanks in advance!

    I'm torn. Thankfully, I can take my sweet time in making a decision. I loved the Sigma 16mm with my Canon M6 Mk II. That lens makes the M platform usable to this day. I think I'd be happy with the same lens for my new Fujifilm X-S20. But in review after review, I can see that the Viltrox has a little more character, and in static video shots, it's pretty stunning.

    I have the samyang 12, too wide for me so I'll go with the sigma. Also the sigma is weather sealed.

    Personally I use 20mm for my interior work, so the 13mm on a crop body would be useful

    I had the Viltrox 13mm for a little while. It was too wide for me. It really exaggerated architectural features and made things look too small. It is a great lens though. Very sharp even wide open. Great build. Just not the look I like in photos or video.

    I have sold all my APS-C lenses (owned the Sigma 16). On primes I always prefer an apperture ring. None of my zooma have it, still I really like than Sony have it on the gen 2 of 24-70 and 70-200.

    Wide angle Lenses for the APSC format are much more difficult to design than for larger format sensor Cameras, that is one of the reasons I use "full frame" (24x36mm) sensor Cameras. So if I was going to get a wide angle Lens for the APSC format, I would only get the very best, fx the Sony 15mm 1.4 G Lens.
    Both the Sigma and the Viltrox are big and heavy for the APSC format ! I like my Lenses to have REAL aperture rings. About focal length, I have for many years had a 20mm "full frame" Lens but I only used it rarely, for "full frame" I use the focal length 14mm, 24mm and 35mm Lenses (equivalent to the APSC focal length 9mm, 16mm and 23mm Lenses).

    • @Eyeofkamau
      @Eyeofkamau Před rokem

      The sigma isn’t heavy at all lol
