Did get a new monster built tranny with billet shafts and converter. and rear end from a 2015+ last year with a 3.55 ratio now which the wore out 4.6 isnt happy with at all but its still going waiting on me to finish the new engine.

@@maurotafoya8415 well actually low oil pressure can cause a tick or rattle in your engine and it will think it’s a knock and retard the timing. On GM trucks low oil pressure is related to the oil pick up o ring. I replaced my o ring in a 2005 avalanche. Went from 10psi oil pressure at idle to 55 psi. The lifter ticking stopped which fixed the knock sensor issue so now it doesn’t retard timing anymore. Picked up 100hp.

Spent this last weekend with my sons changing timing chain guides and tensioners on an older 4.6 Town Car, and we used your videos as tutorials. Car runs great. This video is also so helpful in showing the casual home mechanic in what's right and what's not. It's also obvious that you care about your customers and possess a good, "down to earth" philosophy about making sure that the folks that bring a car to your shop get it fixed right. Good on ya.

If you have a need for more air you got to get a bigger filter and housing. that will safely (for the engine) allow more air through more good filter media. My son has an 07. He had a Ford dealer that told him he needed a timing job. He paid them 4500$. Got in it to leave and it wouldn't even start. They changed him another 375$ to put a cheap 3$ aftermarket battery terminal on. Driving it home it would barely run. When I raised the hood it was just like this truck. Problems everywhere I looked. I have been a tech for 27 years. He is active duty in the military and lives on the other side of the country or I would have fixed it for him. Hard to believe a shop can let such hideous work go out the door and not do anything to make it right. This garbage work is what gives us a bad reputation. A tech that does work like that should find another way to make a living. I feel for this customer. Just found your channel and good for you sir. Great job 👏. I posted before the end... now I see you recommended a replacement engine. Which, if you do work on this, you MUST do, otherwise anything wrong going forward will be on you. I’ve dealt in wholesale autoparts for over 20 years. I’ve also worked as a service advisor and import shop. When America have China preferred trade status, we opened the floodgates to cheaply priced/made auto parts. Orielly, Napa and Autozone are flooded with this junk. The majority of car owners gravitate towards cheaply priced parts not knowing their quality is also cheap. I’m getting ready to do a timing chain and oil pump service on a 5.4 3 valve F-150. @@jamram9924 Melling is a quality product and they supply factory pumps for Ford. The problem with the factory pumps wasn’t a quality issue. It was a design failure of the garbage 5.4. Quality suppliers like Melling, Johnson, Mahle all supply the automotive manufacturers with components but they have to supply what the manufacturers are asking for. Personally, I’d rather buy the aforementioned aftermarket products for a rebuild that the FoMoCo branded parts.
Dorman doesn’t supply ANY manufacturer with components and their line is pretty much garbage across the board. I was a technician for Ford for years and then an independent technician for the next 20. I know a little about garbage parts.
