Replant with catcus soil. I use terra cotta pots because it is the best for them. They are available just about any where now days. The new pot only really needs the next size up . So a 4 inch pot now needs a 6 inch pot as so on....

I use the little packs that absorb extra moisture
They come in all medicine bottles now. I just place on top of the soil and Bam!!! no longer an issue. And don't overwater them.

What is the reason for choosing a pot only slightly larger? What would be the downside of potting in a larger pot? In nature, there is no "pot", and the cacti seem to do fine. Are there considerations other than the health of the plant?
In a much larger pot, watering becomes trickier, as there will be more soil holding water that the plant will not be able to absorb and also will take a lot longer to get dry, and thus cause rot.
Some plants love to be crowded . I always look up the exact plant to see how they like their environment first.
Mammillaria comptotricha with a lemony scent? Parodia penicillata var. nivosa at 1:09 Discocactus or notocactus buiningii after that. Where's the one in the thumbnail?

Is the soil mix appropriate for cactuses? It does not seem so :( And repotting without cleaning the roots from soil is not a good way i guess.

Now is the growing season. You can water the plant right after repotting.
Mine , i remove the offspring .and repotted the mother plant but after 2 wks its got rotten .. im so sad .. now i will try to revive it . But the ofxapring that i repotted is fine no signs of root rot. Btw i diddint water the offspring after i repotted since im afraid to be rotten.

You don't address how one repots large and heavy cacti, such as a Mother in Law's Seat (Bogarub-echinocactus-grusonii), i.e. how it is lifted out of the pot and suspended over a new pot without personal injury, or injury to the plant.

I think you can water it after repotting only if the roots are not demaged...
Watering after repoting will kill the cactus for 99% because several damage is done to the roots.

Rinsing the roots causes damage. Never do that. Just repot it in new soil.
