I turned 21 up in the Bar that was in the Banyon Tree back in 1972 and spent about every weekend there for two years ........ this NEW and Improved Marketplace🤔..not so good but thats just me.
We love the International Market Place, for someone who doesn’t know what it was like back in the days, we love what it is now!

I remember when it was like small souvenir stores and bunch of small eateries in the back. This was in 2005. I like it better now
Be in Waikiki in about a week. Very looking forward to it. We were busy being new parents. Three of us are back to celebrate our little girls and wife’s birthdays. Can’t wait.

I still remember the old market place. Sad to see what it has become. All luxury stores😢
I miss the old food court. “Chois “ !!! was the best plate lunch in Waikiki back in the mid/late 80s all the way until renovations.

Surprisingly my family and I ended up eating many meals at the Liliha bakery. The prices were very good, the portions were large and having a family of picky eaters, everyone found something they liked. Strip steak was too pricey for us. Looking forward to eating at Liliha bakery again this October.

Is the target open yet i am arriving on the 14th of May.
Will the Target store at IMP be carrying food items or just general merchandise?
I'd bet mix of the two. If they don't have what you're looking for, there's an ABC store on Kuhio Ave next door to the Lawlow Hotel (about 2 min walk from Target) that is pretty big & has some food items
I was there in June last year and they were working on the Target then. Its never going to open.

@@MrSteveb80 Depends on the metric of what is considered ‘better.’ I never really know how to reply to comments like this. I think it’s unrealistic to desire that a place stay frozen in time after 60 years - not just Hawaii but any place in the world. I’m not sure where you’re from MrSteveb80 but I would imagine wherever it is has also changed in 60 years. With population growth, jobs, and overall growth.. Honolulu is the capital & a main city. But if a quieter pace is the aim, there’s other areas of Oahu (like North Shore) or even other islands like Kauai 🌺
Same here, a great local flavor, and good prices when I was there in 2002, totally changed when I returned in 2016. All upscale and trendy. Real sad.
