Its amazing to see you guys have different number 5's n 4's where you guys respect each others choice rather than pushing ones choice over other, we love you guys MORE for this mutual respect for each other. You guys are our role model. Now we want to visit Algarves after seeing your reviews. Hope to see more videos. Love & respect from Bangladesh.
Thank you so much for the kind words!! ❤
Yesss brasov!!! As soon as i set foot into Brasov…didn’t even drop off my luggage at hotel yet ….i thought in my head this is a very nice place to retire in. I’m not at retirement age yet and I’ve been to 70 countries n seen many beautiful places but This is the first time i thought that about a place. I met a Portuguese guy mid 40s n he has been driving around Europe for 2yrs he said he felt the same n keeps returning to brasov
The 7 hanging cliffs trail in the Algarve is so spectacular! Thanks for summarizing your thoughts and experiences so well, it's always a little moment of joy to watch you guys. Happy and safe travels!
Thank you!!!
Love your videos! The way you present, your perspective is very relatable.
Well, thank you!! 😃❤
I would add Madeira and Crete to the list. Both have beaches and mountains. Some day activities and a good balance of fun and relaxation.
Great recommendations as always! Also love the format of this video with the back and forth! Cheers!
Thank you so much, so happy you enjoyed it ❤️. Cheers!!
Thanks for sharing. Happy to see you guys enjoying, reflecting and learning from your travels. One of my favorite sayings is "the more I travel, the less I know". And that reflects as I do my top 5 list. It changes based on what stage of life I'm in, also as I transition from traveling solo, to travelling with wife, to now traveling with family. Cheers and safe travels!
I Love that saying! It's so very true, we keep learning every new destination we travel to - and so much more to learn. I'm sure our Top 5 will keep changing 😊
Thanks Brian and Carrie. Love watching your videos. It’s so encouraging. I am trying to figure out this life style as a single person.
You're very welcome 🤗. I'm sure there is a bit more research and courage needed for that leap. You can do it! Cheers
Thanks great thoughts
Congratulations on hitting the 50k subscribers!
Thank you so much ♥
Thx, great info!
Thank you again!
Great list, thanks. The Turkey, Romania & Croatia destinations caught my eye. I’ve been to the Algarve coast in Portugal and although it’s beautiful, I wouldn’t go back, it just wasn’t that exciting when I was there. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
Loved this video. So much information. Thanks.
Thank you for watching, Shannon! 😀
My wife Lori and I are currently in Lagos. It is our first long term stay on a new life of full time travel. It's amazing! We did the coastal hike from Burgau to Salema today (took about 2.5 hours) and WOW! We love it here for all the same reasons you mentioned. The bar is set high right off the bat! Thanks for all the inspiration!
We are so glad you enjoy the area as much as we do!! We love both ends of the Algarve! Thank you for watching and safe travels!
Cheers!!🍻
Thanks guys, appreciate the diversification of locations and reasonings
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks so much for watching! Cheers
Hello both😊 I have recently found your channel it’s great 👍 you share such great info, we are planning to travel for most of the year shortly and I have learnt a lot from you. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. Continue to enjoy your travels we look forward to watching❤
Thank you and welcome to the channel!! Safe travel, Lynn!!
I don’t think there is one of your videos I haven’t enjoyed.👏👏Most of it is your detailed info, but also the chemistry between you.👏👏😊👍
Thank you so much!! ❤
Thumbs up 👍 Brian & Carrie
Thanks so much for watching 😊
I spent 4 months in Alicante and Benidorm when I retired in 2012 and absolutely love Costa Blanca!!!
Yes, Costa Blanca!
What an awesome idea!!
Hi, Thank you for the inputs and information.
Thank you so much for watching!! 🙂
Thanks so much. Many great options 👍
Thank you for watching, Bryan!
Thank you for your time and posting. I'm looking for a nice area with lots of places to eat, with nice people. I'm 70, so I don't have to do so much. I just want to relax, walk around, and chat with locals. One reason I've started learning Vietnamese and going there in November. Thanks again. :)
You'll love Vietnam, David! Safe travels and thank you so much for all the comments!
Where are good cities in Vietnam did you like for leisure living?
I’ve been living in the Pattaya area including Jomtein and Pratanmak, for over 4 years, for me it’s the perfect place to live for convenience and affordability. I don’t go to bars, there’s a great expat scene here, I play in a badminton group, a running group, there’s yoga groups also and even pickle ball groups. Many fine gyms. I’am 71 and Pattaya has improved my health, fitness and social well being! As we get older, keeping fit and healthy is now my full time job. I’ve been to over 60 countries and this is my sweet spot!
That is so nice to hear, Roy!! Thank you for sharing your experiences. Keeping fit and healthy is becoming more and more of a full-time job for us as well!! 🍻
Pickleball there too? In summer I am in UK Kent area for Pickleball , could u kind of recommend the Pickleball area.Thank you in advance.
@@judymckee5992 Yes there’s Pickleball here in Pratanmak Pattaya, two new courts, just google Pickleball Courts on google maps!
I was considering Pattaya as a place to potentially retire to in the future. My one big gripe about Thailand is the poor dog culture but I have no direct knowledge/experience. I'm curious about first hand accounts what the dog culture is like in Pattaya? Are there rentals that allow dogs? Are dogs treated poorly etc..? Is it even feasible to have a dog as a pet there?
@@Chris-zg7ty Some condos eccept dogs/pets! There are to many street dogs, there is very little management as the Thai Royal family love dogs the Thais follow suit. The majority of dogs are friendly enough, but there will always be the odd incident! I have friends who have lived here over 20 years and never had a problem! Many Thais and foreigners have dogs as pets as in the west!
Great video - thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Rhodes didn't make the list, but Greece is amazing as well. Thank you for watching and commenting on our videos!!
Cheers!!🍻
I agree with both of Brian and Carrie's top 5 choices because it's only 3 months! Afterwards you move on to another favorite location! Many of those locations require the "right" 3 winter months so you can change it up every other year and try different towns in the Algarve or Spanish coast. It's hard to beat the PNW in the summer!
We will always be in the PNW for 6 weeks in the summertime!! 😀 Best summers on Earth!
@BrianandCarrie I've basically been planning a similar rotation but perhaps a few months in PNW. Figure have a place in Vancouver (no income tax) then a paddock for a rpod trailer on the oregon coast(no sales tax, and next to my rentals). Rotate through Portugal and Western Europe, then on to SE Asia. Would you ever consider long term Bangkok in a luxury condo as a central area of operations?
We loved Bangkok and would consider staying longer.
If you want great weather in Europe for the winter, choose one of the canaries island in Spain
We started our nomad journey 2 and a half years ago and after some fast travel through Europe, spend seven weeks in the Algarve and loved it! We've since decided on a home base on Bucerias-the Pacific side of Mexico for the winter, Ontario Canada for the summer (home) and spring and fall wherever our housesitting or serendipity takes us. Cefalu, Sicily was somewhere we could stay in those shoulder months. Turkey is high on the list and Vancouver Island is next! Love your channel:)
We are very much looking forward to Mexico this fall. We may be going back in the fall of 2025 as well. We won't be getting out to either coast this time. We did enjoy Cefalu but were disappointed in Palermo. Enjoy Vancouver Island!!
Cheers!!🍻
Great video. I spent 5 months working on the Algarve when I was 20-
/21. I have the fondest of memories. Can’t wait to re-visit it and visit all of the locations you mentioned at some point. 😊
The Algarve is so beautiful, I'm sure it was a great place to be for 5 months ☺. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video, really enjoyed your perspective on these places! Also love that Fethiye made the list… and couldn’t agree more about needing access to good grocery stores and markets when you are staying somewhere long term. We’re actually planning to spend the month of May in Porto… sounds like we need to make our way down to the Algarve at some point!! 🤗
We went to Porto on vacation and just loved our short time there! Enjoy and safe travels!
My husband and I are seriously thinking of moving to the Algarve for a year or so. Thank you for the video.
Excellent vid: New Zealand is amazing…. a long way, but definitely worth it 😊
Yes, if you like to cook like I do, grocery stores are very important and eating heathy is also important to me as well as fitness centers to workout especially if staying long term. Love your video and most of the places you mentioned is on my list
Yes, agree - all important in a place we consider. Thanks so much for watching 😊
Another great video. As I listen to you, I have the sense that your "happy place" and a top destination is where your partner is. Together as a bonded pair you are living in these places, and you will have, after that, the list of things you seek out: weather, water, mountains, walking, food, sights to see etc. I will agree with Lagos and Algarve Portugal as a Number 1 having visited last May. It was incredible, along with Lisbon and Porto. I am surprised that Thailand didn't have more of a presence on your list, especially the beaches. Still the message is that ANY of these places would be marvelous stops for three months or more. Your insight and ideas after the travels you have done are always interesting. Cheers to both!
Me too been many times and Lagos Porto and Lisbon and more is my absolute! Favorite places ever
Will be there in two years!
Thank you so much, Robert! Portugal is all-around wonderful - absolutely agree. The beaches in Thailand are beautiful - but all I can say is the pictures you see aren't typically what you get in reality. Where in the Algarve - you 100% get what you planned to. Cheers!!
Nice list as usual from you guys! Cheers and enjoy Greece, one of my favorite beach country destinations :)
Sorry, Radu that I (Brian) didn't have a place in Romania in my top 5! 🙄 Brasov was close!! 😀
@@BrianandCarrie No problem Brian, I know there's a lot, I mean a lot of wonderful places in this world, so lots of competition :) 🍻
😁
We loved the Split area too! We found Trogir, on the other side of the Bay from Split, to be smaller and really quaint. Great place to check out. So was Rovinj and Pula, on the Istrian peninsula. Beautiful!
We did like Trogir! We didn't venture out as much as we had hoped while in Croatia so we look forward to going back soon. Thank you again for watching and commenting!! 😁
We really enjoy these types of ranking videos that you put out. They always help add new future destinations to our travel list. If you will be in South America early next year I would recommend time in Buenos Aires and then follow it up with the short flight to the island of Florianopolis, Brazil. It is a beautiful and very safe part of that county. From you sharing what you enjoy in different locations for long stays, you might want to consider Balneario Camboriu just up the coast from Florianopolis. Amazing beach city that is kept shockingly spotless. It feels a littly like a mini-Miami beach at a fraction of the price. Fantastic very long walking path runs beside the entire enormous beach. Safe travels :)
We will be starting our South American adventure in Buenos Aires! We will have to look into Florianopolis, Brazil, we are not familiar with it. Thank you for the recommendation! Balneario Camboriu sounds amazing!!
Great video! We loved the Algarve (Lagos), too!🤩👌🏽
Thank you ♥. Yes, Lagos is beautiful. Thanks for watching!
Great stuff. Brian, I'm with you on the beach (but not sand) and long walks/runs with beautiful views as you go. You all missed Nha Trang in Vietnam. Many Vietnamese say DaNang is their favorite city. Nha Trang is mine. Stunning beauty with a very nice boardwalk along the coast for miles along the bay.
At the time we only got 30 days in Vietnam so couldn't explore the way that we wanted to. When we return to SE Asia we will be spending more time there. We will make sure Nha Trang is on the list!!
Nice job on your top 5. As someone who watches your videos and has traveled somewhat. My top 5. Kauai, Chang Mai Thailand, Ubud in Bali, Fortuna in Costa Rica, Cairns Australia. My wife and I love to travel to warm tropical locations. Although my list would have to be much longer. Peace to you both
That's a great list as well! Yes, it's hard to narrow to 5. Thanks so much for watching 😊
Can’t wait to see your Mexico, Central and South America videos and see if this list changes in 2025. Oaxaca City, Puerto Escondido, Sayulita, and Querétaro in Mexico are on my list to stay 1 month in each. Enjoying your videos so much, thank you for all the hard work editing! Go have fun.
We are so excited for Mexico and do hope that one place if not more make it into our top five ☺. Thanks so much for watching - Cheers!!
What a great list! My guesses were close, but there were a few surprises; so excited to see the next chapter, and the next, and the next 🙂
Thanks Mike, we appreciate your support and continuing to follow along 😊
Algarve was very nice in the Fall season. A few residents told me it gets very hot in Summer; still interesting place to be. I had really tasty food there. I had no problems with the train across the South between Faro and Lagos. The train from Lisbon stopped in Faro.
Great video. We went to Portugal two years ago for one month and the place we love the most was the Algarve and like Brian I love Lagos the most. We stayed only a week but we will go back one day and it will be for couple of months.
Thank you!
Thank you for watching, Susan!
I like this ranking and comparison video. It helps give a perspective after months of your travel. I have to agree with the Algarve as number one. Turkey is interesting also but a longer flight. Greece deserves more exploration. But really the Algarve and Spain seem to do it for me.
Love your videos and thanks for the inspiration! My wife and I are on our second 3 month stay in the Algarve and we are loving it. The Algarve really is a wonderful place. Did I say that out loud? I mean the Algarve is terrible, no reason to come here at all! Looking forward to more adventures for us and following your adventures too!
That's so wonderful, happy you love it, or rather hate it there 😉 as well. Happy travels ahead for you! Cheers!!
Very enjoyable
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey guys, Christian and I would fully support a “Brian and Carrie Best Beers around the world channel”
Best or most popular? 🤔 Besides Germany, The Czech Republic and Romania they've all been cheap domestic beers. Not a bad thing at all just not what we drink back home. I wish we had started a list when we started our travels!!
@@BrianandCarrie Beer ranking has to have a defined criteria (taste, price, etc), just as important is the friendliness of the staff, ambiance of the location, etc. Just my two cents! Love the content and quality. Keep up the great work. You guys and several other channels have inspired Christian and I to retire sooner rather than later and slow travel.
Well done, Love Da Nang predominantly because of beach, max value and how central it is to so many top locations in Asia
Yes, it's a great choice for so many reasons ♥
nice video nice top 5 including 3 european cities have fun traveling this year ciaoo
Great list. I'm inspired to stay at all of these places :)
Thank you for watching!!! 😀
Great job❤❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Interesting list. I've been to Chiang Mai, Da Nang, the Algarve, and will go to Croatia and Fethiye next year. Great, informative videos!
Thank you, Jane for watching and safe travels!! 😀
Really enjoyed hearing your honest comments about these places. Interesting how you said you just get a feeling about a place….
So happy you enjoyed it 😊. It is a wonderful thing when we do get that feeling! Cheers!!
So glad I found your channel! We are part of the same demographic. We have been watching Lisa and Josh (much younger but so cute and funny) but are, like you guys, waiting with bated breath to see what happens in November, 2024. I’d love to see a video about how it was for you to actually pack up and leave the U.S. We have such a lovely area here, and a tribe that we love. I don’t quite know how to break away from our current life! Thanks so much you two, love your videos!
We are excited that you found our channel as well! We have a few Q&A video's available that will answer your questions about us and how we got started. Thank you for watching and commenting and welcome to our community!!
Great review. We retired 2 yrs ago and have been traveling extensively. In the 2 yrs we were lucky enough to have traveled to Malta, Crete, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Bali, Eygpt, Jordon, Israel, S. Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, France, Belgium, various Greek islands and spots in Türkiye etc. Just returned from touring by car in Spain for 1.5 months with stops in Porto and the Algarve( 2nd time). Love Portugal and Spain but Türkiye is high on our list to explore more as we visited in the past Bodrum, Cesme, Kusadasi, and Istanbul in the past. Fethiye looks very interesting and we will have to take a closer look, did you rent a car there and Airbnb? Home for the summer on Vancouver Island. Our next booked trip is India this Oct for 3 weeks.
That's a lot of travel!! We did do an Airbnb in Türkiye but did not rent a car. We rented one here in Rhodes yesterday and it was surprisingly easy and affordable. We will be doing more of that moving forward. Thank you for watching and safe travels!!
Cheers!!🍻
Dang… that’s a lot of traveling. Getting to see a lot.
I so love going to grocery stores when living overseas! Thanks for bringing this up - I don't want to eat all my meals in restaurants.
It's one of my favorite things when we get to a new location - see everything that is new for the month we will be there. We eat in majority of the time, depending on location. Cheers!
I am glad Alicante was on the list. Next month we are going there for the 4th time since seeing your video over 2 years ago. Has everything for me. Near to airport, lovely beach, marina, great market and shops and also the Red Corner bar! We have been to the Algarve too and that is lovely tp relax but personally didn't think it has as much as Alicante. We will probably go to Split at some point. Thanks for another great video
Alicante is really nice! We need to go back sooner rather than later; it could move up the list even higher!! Thank you for always watching, Bruce, and safe travels!!
Hello, we so enjoy your travels...Have you considered the Azores? You both are inspiring and are great communicators....Thanks for sharing your travels...
We have considered the Azores, especially after spending the day during a recent cruise.
Great video, I do agree with Portugal its one of my favorite also , but like to drive a car to see more of the interior also. I did give me Turkey Antalya is in the card for next year.
Great video. We spent 2 months in algarve last fall. Loved it. Albufeira our favorite. Easy to take bus to Seville and lagos. Not expensive, $1500 for basics monthly, medical and dental inexpensive. Love the beaches, Aldi, restaurants. Next trip Paris, Italy.
Great video. Very interesting. Would’ve liked time of year/weather included in your selections.
Great tip! We could have added the best time to visit! Cheers
Loved seeing Alicante since I’m investigating Spain for retirement. Looking forward to u guys going back to Spain. Maybe checking out Malaga, Benidorm, Torrevieja and Fuengirola.
Just back from 24 days in The Algarve...$6/day car rental....and thanks again for the One Month AirBnB rental trick
Wow, that's a fantastic price! Yes, that one month tricks saves us so much. Cheers!!
I should mention that's $CAD
What is the one month AirBnB rental trick?
Monthly rentals can be 50% off, so you can potentially get savings even if you don't stay all 28 nights. Your mileage may vary.
*Note that you usually have to pay Utilities on a monthly rental
Great choices, thank you!
I'd like to recommend Graz, Austria. It is a beautiful, vibrant town with great surroundings and lots of variety within about 1 hour train or bus ride (excellent public transportation). World-class skiing and hiking to the North, gentle hills with vineyards to the South, hot springs and baths to the East, and lakes and forests all around.
They like beaches!
Have went two times in Lagos and would absolutely go back and stay 3 months…… since you are going in Mexico, I have been going more than 10 times in Zihuataneo , great place to go , my favorite place in Mexico , which I have been in so many places in Mexico.
Great country. Thank you great video 🙏
We are going to start planning this leg within the next month. We are looking forward to spending time in Mexico!!! 😀
I loved this video. You gave us all the info we would need to decide where to go, except 1, weather. But, that’s an easy search online. Thanks so much for making such informative videos. ❤Elizabeth
Thanks, Elizabeth! Yes, weather is a key element, but would vary so much during the year in certain locations. Fortunately, the Algarve is pretty well perfect year-round ♥
@@BrianandCarrieLagos, Portugal is one of the only places with better weather than where I live in Southern California.
It’s a great video 😀 You guys so definitely love the beach. We are more a mountain and forest couple. Does Bulgaria feature on your future places to visit ? We have really enjoyed Plovdiv and are now heading to Bansko for 6 months.
We do plan on getting to Bulgaria at some point yes! Chang Mia and Brasov are both inland away from the beach, so we do explore other areas of the world. We will be in Budapest later this summer as well!! 😃
Nova Scotia. Summer there is sublime! Cape Breton in October is a MUST!
But you can't go in the water. So no but it is beautiful, I rode my bike around NS and Cape Breton was very cool.
Hi!
Fantastic ❤
A big hug from a Portuguese ❤
Thank you so much❤
@@BrianandCarrie ❤️
Mexico; Check out Queretaro, San Luis Potosí, Morelia, Mexico City, Puebla and Oaxaca in the Summer Months. In the winter check out Puerto Vallarta, Tulum, Melaque, Huatulco.
Thank you for the recommendations, Michael. We will be in a couple of those spots very soon!! 😀
Hi Brian and Carrie - love your videos they give such good insight into each destination for the realities of living in a place rather than just being a tourist on a short trip. I too absolutely love the algarve and intend to retire there sometime in the next few years. I'm going to spend the winter months of this/next year there and wondered if you had any airbnb recommendations for the algarve, I don't really mind which area as I'll probably move around during my stay. Thank you in advance.
We really don't have any recommendations. One that we stayed in is now triple the price and the other is no longer available. Sorry we can't help on this one. 😒
Nice, we haven't been to any of those places but some have been on our list once we retire. We've spent most our travels in Latin America so can't wait to see you add those countries into your calculations.
Yes, we are very excited to head that direction. I really hope we find some new destinations to put in our Top 5 List 😊
Coming from China, I found the most difficult adjustment living in Thailand is the lack of infrastructure ie Broken sidewalk almost always packed with vendors, no city buses except bangkok, hard to cross streets because no traffic lights..and I have never seen so many plastic waste until I visited a night market. I have picked up a big bag of rubbish on Pattaya beach.
Plenty of places like that in China also.
And full of Russians due to Ukraine war!
Great report, guys! I've put Alicante, Spain on my list. I've only been in Seville when it comes to Spain.
As for meeting people while traveling overseas, I haven't found that to be a problem. Many of my overseas friends to this day are ones I met as far back as the first trip to Europe in the early 70s when I was traveling solo as a teen.
By traveling solo, I have found people more approachable to start talking to me than if someone happened to be with me. Usually my long time friends here at home would also be out traveling at the same time and our paths would cross on some trips as we were usually out and about for up to 11 weeks. But, we'd meet up for a few days and then go our separate ways and would be back to traveling solo. It was fun when we got back to the States as we'd discuss the folks we had met overseas and some of their overseas friends and my overseas friends would end up friends of all of us. I still meet people easily when out and about. However, it's very important to keep in regular contact with people one's met over the years.
Greetings from Los Angeles
Thank you! Yes, so many wonderful places to visit in Spain - we hope to get back there soon. Cheers!
Another awesome video! We’ve been following you for over a year or two now and we have enjoyed your videos so much! We learned so much from you both! Brian always makes me laugh 😂 We’re thinking about going to Portugal this October. I was thinking about Vila Real since you said it’s accessible to Spain? Could you please tell me more about how to get there? Many thanks in advance! ❤
There is a little foot ferry that will take you across to Spain. We show it in the Algarve video that we did. Easy and fun! 😊
These are pretty good places-- enjoyed all but Romania. Carrie, you and I both thought waterfront was more important-- now I'm drawn to the mountains too.
I visited Bangkok in the 1970s and don’t remember air pollution at the time, but perhaps it is more polluted during the infamous burn season, and with more vehicles on the road. I will have to monitor as would like to visit those areas mentioned in Thailand and Vietnam, and especially Chiang Mai, which is a little cooler.
We have watched some of your videos several times and because of your videos I’ve decided to include Fethiye and Brasov on our Greece adventure next year. We’re also going to Rhodes for an over night. Do you think one day is enough to visit Rhodes?
We spent 3 months in Buenos Aires in 2022 and plan to go back there again next summer which is winter there. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed BA as there's so much to do there and even though inflation is out of control, the blue dollar rate for USD is currently 1000 peso/$1 so everything will still feel like a bargain. For example, I joined a golf club and played 1-2 times per (mid-) week for $70/month. We saw symphony's, ballet's and Opera's, open-mic night (albeit they're all professionals) Blues bar and Jazz bars are easy to find. We went to many Ferias and museums and many open markets. Transportation to get anywhere is world class (sort of lol) such as buses, subways and trains. You can always get a taxi but will cost you 10X. For example, it was $0.25/bus ride, $0.35/subway or $0.45/train ride vs a taxi would cost you $5. If its not on your list of destinations, you should reconsider. It has such a rich history and the people there are fantastic.
Thank you for the information! We will be in Buenos Aires in January 2025 for a month-long stay!! We are very excited!!! Thank you again for the information and for watching our channel!!
Cheers!!🍻
Great video! We loved Lagos as well, but only in the summer. The winter months turn into a ghost town. Have you visited Cascais Portugal? By far, that’s my #1
We loved Cascais ❤️. I've been a few times and it's so beautiful.
I left Denver 2 1/2 years ago. I first moved there in 1981. I left in 2000 and have moved back a couple of times. It has become crowded and incredibly expensive. There is traffic at every time of day. Skiing costs are prohibitive so you won’t be able to afford it on $3850 per month. Rent prices have soared, even outside of Denver. The average home costs $650,000 or more - that’s just the average cost. I think the cost of living is prohibitive for people with moderate incomes. I have lived in many states in the past 10 years after leaving my home in New York City. To summarize, as a resident now of the Midwest, my retirement plans have been gutted by rising costs. I have been seriously considering moving to France (not Paris!). Your videos are immensely helpful in informing my decision.
So happy you found it helpful. We felt similar about our home town. It's sad when you can be priced out of the place you were born and raised. Happy researching, hope you find the perfect place to settle.
Why stay in the United States?
@@iraschellenberg-kollenstei2247 I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford to.
Denver is cheap compared to Toronto. A small starter/fixer home is at least 1.3
@@snowbird6855 Yikes!
Thanks for these recommendations! It looks like you haven't been to Málaga yet, but if you have, I'm wondering how it compares to Alicante for long-term travel. If you haven't been to Málaga yet, I'd be curious what you think if you do go.
Thanks for sharing your list. Will add them to our travel plans for the next few years! I think we like larger cities, which would include Istanbul, Paris, London, Porto, and perhaps even NYC. For your 2025 planning, please consider Buenos Aires, which is one of my favorites in South America. Also, we are in Lima, Peru for the next few weeks - let me know if you have questions about what to do and where to eat (my wife is from her) here.
That sounds like a wonderful list of places to visit! We are planning to head to Buenos Aires at the beginning of 2025 - haven't planned much beyond that at this point. Thanks so much for watching!
If you decide to stay as a residents in one place I would recommend to check the bureaucratic sustem of the area, it can negatively inpact the life as well imo. I would never move to Sounhern countries only because of that I am so used to efficiency 😊
You guys have to try Miraflores or Cusco Peru. You’ll love it!,
Good to know, we'll look into those areas ☺. Thanks for watching!
I think Bryan will like Cádiz and Carrie will like Málaga. Great day trips from both towns 😊
Sounds wonderful! We did stop into Cadiz off a cruise ship and loved it for the brief amount we saw. Hope to return one day and visit Malaga as well. Cheers
I will add Tenerife. Northern Tenerife.is lovely.green and pretty.
Thank you for the addition!!! 😊
Sorry Brian but I agree with Carrie... Vila Real is the best part of the Algarve... not counting Alicante of course 😂
I agree with Portugal. It ranks high on my list. I want to visit the Algarve. I have gone to Madeira twice. First visit was Funchal. I loved it there. Next, I tried village life in a few different areas on the island. I really liked Machico. Which surprised me! The markets and restaurants were great and the sandy beach was a treat. I want to spend more time in the Azores. It was so beautiful there. My next trip is going to be Spain. I want to visit Mallorca and some beach community on the mainland. I am also thinking fall on Lake Como would be interesting. I am starting to put together a list. I’m now going to research Türkiye, since you liked it so much. I keep hearing that everyone really enjoys their time there.
That is a great list! We have heard so much about Madeira but still haven't been. Lake Como in the fall would be beautiful for sure and you can't go wrong with Spain. Thank you for commenting and safe travels!!
Cheers!!
Carrie and Brian,, your videos are very informative and interesting. I have to ask Carrie,, is the a merino T-shirt you're wearing? It looks great.
Thank you so much ♥. The shirt I'm wearing isn't Merino and as it is a bit heavier tank, it's held up so great and I love it! Here is a link to some of our key clothing items we travel with on our website: www.brianandcarrietravels.com/shop-2-1
@@BrianandCarrie thank you!
Chang Mai was definitely my favorite place in Thailand!
There is just something about it ❤️❤️
Problem with Chiang Mai is the unhealthy aqi December through April. Look at the NASA fire map, and you'll see fires in the entire area in the USA snowbird months. I do love the city but my health is more important to me.
I love the Algarve and it was my #1 spot to return to but I haven’t yet. I haven’t returned because a year after discovering the Algarve, I discovered San Sebastián, Spain. The best food scene, especially in Old Town, plus there are beaches. I’ve been back 2 additional times.
That's great to hear, we haven't been there yet and it sure sounds like we need to add it to the list. Cheers!!
If/when you get to Australia and New Zealand you’d love Manly in Sydney a beach town with a great promenade and Wellington NZ, my city, great views and walks with wonderful waterfront. Neither are cheap but probably not too bad against the USD.
We will get to NZ and Australia as soon as we can afford to go!! 😂 a weeklong stay in Dublin cost us almost as much as a month long stay in Türkiye!! Some places will have to wait unfortunately.
Great video, you definitely need to get to Japan though IMHO! The Yen has depreciated 50% over the last few years so is now 155 to the dollar, back to where it was in 1990. A few caveats though for Japan (and any other destination): timing is everything, some places have unbearable weather certain times of the year, lovely the other. I think you travel a lot during shoulder seasons which is a great idea. I wouldn’t do the Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto route during Summer, horribly hot & humid. Spring Cherry Blossom/Fall foliage will be very crowded but beautiful. Try visiting places outside the Main tourist areas, you could easily spend a few months in Japan and would love it I think.
We definitely have Japan on the list and have only heard wonderful things. Can't wait, hopefully in the next few years! Cheers
i had a feeling BRASOV would make someone's list :)... my home town. Living in SYDNEY since 2003 (and haven't been back since 2014 /SAD). Miss it so much. Good video.
I can imagine you miss it a ton, being from there. We miss it and it's only been a few years and we only were there 2 weeks. Thanks so much for watching! Cheers 🍻
Hi, I love watching your videos. I would suggest Cape Town in South Africa
Yes, it's high on our list! We hope to make it there in the next few years. Cheers!!
